That chickens carry DNA that can be traced back to the dinosaur.  They are that closely related.  :o

So which came first? The chicken? Or the dinosaur egg?

The blue banana, with its distinctive vanilla flavor, is a unique fruit grown in Hawaii and Southeast Asia. Its striking color and sweet, creamy flavor distinguish it among banana varieties

This banana is not only a delight to the palate, but also provides several nutrients.

It is very rich in fiber, antioxidants and minerals, vitamins B6 and C, manganese and potassium.

TIL: The Arabic phrase alhamdulillah (ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّٰهِ) means "praise be to God" and is sometimes translated as "thank God" or "thanks be to the Lord". It's also known as Tahmid, which means "praising" in Arabic.

Muslims often say alhamdulillah to express gratitude and appreciation for Allah, believing that Allah deserves praise and gratitude at all times. They say it in both good and bad times, when things go their way and when they don't. Alhamdulillah can also be used to express satisfaction, to discuss accomplishments, or to acknowledge fortunate circumstances. People also say alhamdulillah after finishing a meal or after sneezing.

A longer version of the phrase is al-ḥamdu l-illāhi rabbi l-ʿālamīn (ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّٰهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ), which means "all praise is due to God, Lord of all the worlds". This is the first verse of Surah Al-Fatiha, the opening chapter of the Quran.

Somehow I know Hilda would have a story tying blue bananas and alhamdulillah together. Miss her.

TIL that my local area averaged 11 days a year with temperatures of 90-degrees or higher during the 20th century.

From 2001 to 2014 that average went up to 15 days.

From 2015 to now, the average number of days has climbed to 23 days.

So far this year we've had 24 days above 90 and there are at least three more in the immediate forecast.

I don't know the figures but we may be near those numbers too.. 90 degree days starting earlier in the year and lasting longer into the year.  But it sure beats frigid weather.

Interesting tidbit -

Gibraltar Airport, also known as North Front Airport, is one of the world's most unique airports due to its unusual runway configuration. The runway intersects with Winston Churchill Avenue, Gibraltar's main road, requiring vehicular traffic to stop whenever an aircraft takes off or lands. This proximity to the Rock of Gibraltar and the city center creates challenging conditions for pilots, who must navigate steep approaches and strong crosswinds. Despite its small size, Gibraltar Airport is a crucial transportation hub, connecting the region to the UK and other countries.

Before 9/11 the public road encircling Heathrow Airport crossed the taxiway between the runways and the aircraft maintenance hangars, drivers often had to stop for aircraft taxiing.  They closed it off as a security measure and re-routed the road.

We have a road that leads to the center of the airport. There's a FedEx facility customers need to reach plus a number of freight warehouses. There's a tunnel under the runway. Been through it a few times.

Not many newspeople around who will ask the hard questions to our politicians.  Or dig deep into a story instead of short sound bites.

Many years ago they didn’t have a sight baffle along the Heathrow perimeter fence. Was driving along perimeter road with family in car as Concorde pulled onto the runway. Wound down the windows and said “look kids it’s Concorde”. Just then the pilot lit the blue touch paper.

In Japanese schools:

1. In grades 1 thru 8, two kids from each classroom go to the school cafeteria, pick up the food, then take it to the classroom. With the help of the teacher, the food is then served. The kids must eat in silence. All of the kids then pitch in to clean the classroom. The school is cleaned again at the end of the day by the kids (there is no janitorial staff).

2. High school kids brown bag it. Although they don't have to eat in silence, they do keep it down. There is a rotational schedule of who cleans the school after school (again, no janitorial staff).
