Binary choices are inherently false. It's not either/or, it's "and." The Stones and Beatles are both great. There is no contradiction in liking both. Keith and Paul are friends irl, so why should the fans fight? That said, Gina Marie, you are badly misinformed to claim the Stones fired Mick Taylor. He had a nervous breakdown and quit. They did fire Brian Jones, but because he was so drug addled he no longer contributed to their records. No Rolling Stone has ever been fired for not having the right sound. (Though Ian Stewart was fired for having the "wrong look."

I love the Beatles, I actually seen Paul McCartney back in 1989.  One of the best concerts I've ever been to see.  I sure wish I could have seen John Lennon/The Beatles.  I'm certain if Lennon had not been murdered, The Beatles would have reunited in late 80's or early 90's.

She said, "You don't understand what I said."
I said, "No, no, no, you're wrong.
When I was a boy everything was right,
Everything was right."

SHE SAID SHE SAID
This is the song I can never get out of my head once it starts playing.  I just have to wait it out or put on Revolver and play it really loud.

Though the Beatles produced some of the best music ever, I was a fan of the bad boys of Rock -The Rolling Stones. Both groups dominated the music charts when I was growing up.

I was listening to “Let It Bleed” this morning.  There’s always been some controversy as to whether the name of the album was a knock on the Beatles’ “Let It Be.”  The Stones’ album came out first, but the Beatles album was already in production.

"Michelle" just started playing in my head a few minutes ago, on infinite repeat. I have no idea why. I haven't thought about that song in ages.

"Ear worms" are insidious. Many mornings I wake with an oldie spinning around in my brain. Naturally I never remember all the lyrics and fill in with la dum do la, etc.

Most the songs are from 50s and 60s...days of my youth.  I have no idea what triggers this.  Of course the older I get, the less I uni what's going on. What happened to: "With age comes wisdom." :D

I am with you msslave. I can name that tune from the 60s and early 70s with no problem. Guess the music we heard growing up stays with you,

New Movie in 2021: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9735318/

Brought to you by Peter Jackson

Documentary about the music group The Beatles featuring in-studio footage that was shot in early 1969 for the 1970 feature film 'Let It Be.'

I've seen some of the footage.  It was great to see all the boys smiling and joking around. And I didn't see a single Hobbit.

If you look online for A/B Road you can listen to ALL of the behind-the-scenes slate track audio for these sessions.  It's 90+ hours and yes, I've listened to it all.  It can be painful because it is literally them rehearsing the same songs over, and over, plus some fighting.

I worry that the remaining Beatles and their interests won't allow the darker side of what happened during Let It Be/Get Back to come out.  I think it might be whitewashed, but we will see.

Really says something about the Beatles when they're still as famous as they are, 50 years after splitting up  8)

Get Back officially airs on Disney + starting 11/25/21.

At least, that is what the Disney+ website says.

THE FAB FOUR: Music lovers worldwide come together to celebrate Global Beatles Day on June 25. The occasion pays tribute to The Beatles and the impact they had on both music history & pop culture. Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Ringo Starr & George Harrison first recorded together as a foursome in 1962 — after producer George Martin fired original drummer Pete Best. Today’s date was selected because it’s the same date the band participated in Our World in 1967, which was a program on the BBC that was also broadcast to a global audience. They performed their song “All You Need Is Love.”

What a sensation they made. I was a Senior in High School at the time, so every time I hear some of the Beatles first songs it reminds me of my salad days. Coming on the  heels of all the texts my sister sent about last night's Alumni Banquet in my home town it's really bringing up memories.

Dang I'm old. :emot_laughing:

Today’s date [June 25] was selected because it’s the same date the band participated in Our World in 1967, which was a program on the BBC that was also broadcast to a global audience. They performed their song “All You Need Is Love.”

I was a member of that global audience, but what impressed me most was the technology. In only a few years satellite broadcasts went from bouncing signals off giant balloons, to hit-or-miss tracking of tiny satellites as they whizzed across the sky, to the geosynchronous behemoths used in the June 25th broadcast.

I didn't know there was a Beatles Day. I remember buying the original pressings of the Revolver and Sgt Pepper albums, but lost interest in the group soon after. A few weeks before the Our World broadcast I'd been to see Pink Floyd's Games for May at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, and my musical inclinations went off in another direction.

I remember my father bringing home the White Album, and we all stood reverentially around the turntable, as he dropped it on for the first play. Nothing like fresh vinyl.
