In the 1960s, most music was played on the AM stations. With the advent of FM radio stations, some small radio stations began playing entire albums, rather then the one hit song the group or individual had. And they played it in stereo. Back then, the music sounded so much better then it did played in mono as most AM stations did, but when the DJ spoke, he sounded like he was in an echo chamber. Those who loved music mainly kept their radios tuned into FM. One was considered hip if their car had an AM-FM radio.
