BRUSSELS SPROUTS WITH BACON AND RAISINS

A little bit of bacon and a handful of raisins add a smoky sweetness that balances the slightly bitter flavor of the little cabbages.

QUICK YEAST ROLLS

"This easy yeast roll recipe was given to me by my Great, Great Grandmother. I used it a couple of years ago in our state fair and received first place."

http://allrecipes.com/recipe/13827/quick-yeast-rolls/

Note:  I started baking about 8 years ago, when my ex and I split for the first time.  She doesn't know which end of a spoon to pick up, so I would spend my weekends turning out bread, cookies, cakes, and pies for the boys.  They both live with me full time now, and I honestly think the smell of bread baking had something to do with it.

I know "pop 'n fresh" and store bought rolls are a convenience.  But nothing compares with tearing open a fresh baked roll and putting a pat of REAL butter on it.

I would so devour this, because........

Never have I ever NOT eaten Brussels Sprouts when the chance presented itself.

Please.  No more mashed potatoes...

POTATO GRATIN WITH GRUYÈRE AND CRÈME FRAÎCHE

Just four ingredients add up to a rich and delicious side dish. Once the potatoes are sliced, the gratin comes together quickly and then bakes unattended for about an hour and 15 minutes.

These are so creamy and rich... like eating butter.  Most better equipped stores have Gruyère in the gourmet dairy and cheese case.  Crème fraîsche also.

Roasted Fingerling Potatoes and Brussels Sprouts With Rosemary and Garlic

 :emot_thdrool:

Ingredients:

(0.80kg/1.75lb) fingerling potatoes
(0.34kg/0.75lb) brussels sprouts
3 garlic cloves, minced
2 tbsp fresh minced rosemary
1 tbsp + 1 tsp extra virgin olive oil
1/2 tbsp Sucanat (optional)
3/4 tsp fine grain sea salt
Freshly ground black pepper
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Directions:
Preheat oven to 400°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Rinse and scrub potatoes. Pat dry. Slice in half lengthwise and place into large mixing bowl.
Cut off stem of brussels sprouts and remove loose outer leaves. Rinse and pat dry. Place in bowl.
Add the minced garlic, minced rosemary, oil, optional Sucanat, salt, pepper, and optional red pepper flakes into the bowl along with the potatoes and sprouts. Toss with your hands to combine and place on baking sheet.
Roast for 35-38 minutes at 400°F, stirring once half way through baking. Potatoes will be golden and brussels will be lightly charred when ready. Season with Herbamare (or salt) and pepper to taste and serve immediately

STIR FRIED SESAME ASPARAGUS

Be sure to find the Asian sesame oil.  Makes all the difference.  Delish.

CREAMED SPINACH DELUXE

There's something comforting about this smooth soft vegetable amid all the raucous Thanksgiving dishes on the table.  A nice compliment to the tart and briney dishes of the season.

My best friend invited us over to her house for Thanksgiving this year. She is a fabulous cook. All I have to bring is one side dish and a dessert. Should be lots of fun. No grouchy bitchy relatives this year. Haha!!

My grandmother always made one, and I carry on the tradition.  I have one child who hates it, and one who loves it.  We take the brandy in the den, and give a generous pour over our mincemeat, then watch the football game with a good food and brandy buzz...

MINCEMEAT PIE

Suet gives a rich flavor and dense texture to mincemeat. We strongly recommend the Atora brand to avoid the overly beefy flavor you get from poor-quality suet. You may also substitute 4 tablespoons melted butter.

I broke down and got a turducken today.  I’ve been thinking about it for years, but the kids said that’s what they want.  What is a turducken?  It’s a chicken, stuffed in a duck, stuffed in a turkey.  It’s boneless, except of the wings, and Cajun spiced.

I’ll let you know how this goes.
