But enough about you.

I agree. It makes me wonder what they are protesting. That our democratic process was carried out exactly as it was designed, and as it has been carried out for over 200 years? That there was a smooth, legal, and democratic transition of power? That the Constitution was followed to the letter?

And I'm sure I'm not alone in savoring the irony of the fact that these exact same people only a few weeks ago were issuing dire predictions and condemnations about what Trump's supporters will do after he loses the election.

Or the fact that these exact same people only a few weeks ago were condemning and deriding Trump for saying the electoral process is rigged, and now turn around and proclaim that the electoral process is rigged.

What makes America great?  People can show their displeasure of a lawfully elected person that they do not agree with by staging protests. And the government will protect the protesters.

People have the right to protest even if you don't agree with what they have to say.  I hope Trump realizes this.  Some of the things he said during his campaign makes me believe he does not.

Was he election rigged?  I don't think so, and I certainly would not say so without proof.  But I am concerned.  One thing I noticed about Trump is he seemed to accuse everyone else of doing bad things when he was the one doing them.  He also called people names like "crook and liar" when he actually fit the description much better.

Trump will be entering the White House with some pending investigations following him -such as fraud and possible income tax evasion.

I said nothing about the people's right to protest, nor the rightness of people protesting. Nor, for that matter, did I say that I don't agree with what they have to say.

I simply pointed out the contradiction (deliberately avoiding the "h" word) of condemning or accusing someone of doing something, and then turning around and doing it oneself.

This is such an aggressively typical knee-jerk reaction, both in real life and, especially, on social media: Someone disagrees with the content of what someone says, and the response is a defense of the person's right to say it.

But I'll ask you the same question I asked above: What are they protesting? That our democratic process was carried out exactly as it was designed, and as it has been carried out for over 200 years? That there was a smooth, legal, and democratic transition of power? That the Constitution was followed to the letter?

Or, to paraphrase ChripingGirl, that they're a bunch of spoiled whiners?

My mom taught us to be humble and graceful in victory, and even more humble and graceful in defeat.

MissB - my post had nothing to do with your post.  I just decide to write what I did after hearing people around me complaining about the protesters. Just what I believe.

Sorry, it was rash of me to assume that it did.

And, as long as I'm labeling people hypocrites, I was far from "humble and graceful in victory" after the Cubs won the World Series...

The point is that no one should be allowed to gerrymander, period.

We need non-partisan redistricting.

No disagreement on my part.

@aensualtraveler Try looking at the districts in Texas before you make such broad statements. We have had a court tell the state congress that they can't draw districts like that.

Are you saying that a Texas court has said gerrymandering is illegal?
That's a good thing, right?
Now, all we need to do is make it illegal for both parties, and preferably a Supreme Court ruling on it to eliminate further discussion on it.

Absolutely, Watcher!

They are exercising their rights in an orderly manner, and are protected while doing so.

On another note  of stupidity and moral and ethical lapses, reported by TPM:

Quote
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) on Wednesday said that waterboarding is not torture, and he indicated that he would be open to Donald Trump resuming the practice as president.

I propose that he first be subjected to a water boarding session so that he may adequately assess its true B nature.

It's like all of America walked up to the polling booth, turned to face the rest of the world, and said "Here, hold my beer!".

His acceptance was more tempered than I was expecting, but I still worry that Trump is an isolationist, but Putin is an expansionist.  That does not bode well for those of us in between.

On top of that, I keep remembering what Trump kept saying about nukes in the Middle East, and that in January they give him The Button...

No button was given to Trump. It takes an act of Congress to declare war and he doesn't have the only key that's needed to activate nukes. Stop the propaganda until you know what you're talking about.BTW: Obama is the only president that has enacted a law (more a rule he damned well expects to be followed) without Congressional  approval.
@sensualtraveler. You are offbase again on executive orders.

The president can commit troops for a limited number of days. And that by itself, in the right place and time can embroil us in a war.

I'm aware of executive powers Katie, but cuda, wuda, shuda does not make a limited conflict a war until congress votes to declare war.

I woke up this morning and was startled to learn that Trump is our next president.  One CNN analyst summed it up nicely - our polling was wrong and we own that.   The stock markets are taking a beating as they preferred Clinton.  But my guess is that after a couple weeks, people will see that the United States is still standing and things will work themselves out.

Stock market was up over 200 points at the end of the next days trading.  I tend to believe the drop of over 600 points was deliberately meant to coincide to Hillarys low Electorial numbers coming in. Question: I know little about how the stock market works, but since the results of the election really didn't begin realistically begin coming in until after around 7:00 PM, wasn't the US stock market closed by then, and where did these numbers come from? Was there some indication Trump would win and they were simply hedging the numbers?

i'm certain the servicemen and their families who went through the Korean Conflict,  Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq share your view of the reality of that.

Declared or not, those were wars.

Ask Watcher if he was in a war.

It's easy to start a war.....
Just put a number of troops where they should not be and watch what happens.
Kuwait comes to mind...
