AJ McCarron and some others connected to Alabama are claiming crowd noise was pumped into Neyland Stadium.

I've been to Neyland. Its the 7th largest stadium in the country. They DO NOT need to pump in crowd noise. The fans make more than enough just fine.
(Its called `The Neyland Effect'.)

I didn't see the game, but only the recap, but 0-6 Kennesaw state Upset 5-0 Liberty 27-24. The real funny part is that, predictably, the fans stormed the field. The officials looked at the reply and made an announcement that there was one second left on the clock. The fans cooperated and left the field.. Liberty bungled the opportunity handed to them.

Liberty was founded by televangelist Jerry Falwell, so I absolutely despise Liberty and everything associated with it. Liberty didn’t bungle “the opportunity” because there wasn’t one. But they tried multiple laterals and failed. Kennesaw State’s first win as a FSB school. Congrats.

The Oklahoma Sooners are near the bottom of the SEC standings with a 1-3 record (4-3 overall), and the road doesn't get much easier. Oklahoma is scheduled to play No. 18 Ole Miss in Week 9. It is also scheduled to play No. 21 Missouri, No. 15 Alabama and No. 8 LSU. Boomer Sooners.

A trio of games on Friday night. First, Louisville allowed Boston College to score the first 20 points of the game and then came roaring back to win 31-27. Boise State and UNLV played a very entertaining back and forth game, but Boise State came away with a 29-24 win. Finally, in a game that ended at 11:45 PM Pacific time, USC dominated against Rutgers 42 to 20.

I’ve seen a number of articles this season that state Big Ten teams that move across more than two time zones to play consistently lose, and also consistently fail to beat the spread. Which just makes you wonder why a team from New Jersey should go to California and finish a game at 2:45 AM local NJ time.

For me, there were three games that stood out for me this Saturday:

1) At one point, Duke was behind 21-7 to SMU, but battled back to tie it up at 21 all by the end of regulation. SMU got a TD in their first OT, but so did Duke. Where the end came was that Duke tried and failed in the 2 point attempt.

2) Midway through the 3rd quarter, #14 Texas A & M was losing to #8 LSU by a score of 17-7. A & M fought back and at the end of the third, took the lead, 21-17. LSU battled back, but never got any closer than 4 points as A & M beat LSU 38-23.

3) This is a "Who cares?" game, but 3-4 UTSA was taking on 2-5 Tulsa. Early in the 3rd, UTSA was up 35-7, but then the comeback started. Tulsa tied it up at 45 all with 1:06 remaining, but Tulsa still had an extra point to go, and they delivered for a one point win.

In related news, Colorado is now bowl eligible with a 23-34 win over Cincinnati.

I was impressed by the BYU win. They attend to just basic football and each one does their job. Overall solid team with good coaching.

I expect Miami will get ranked over Texas after this weekend.  At this rate, they're going to have quite a task to narrow down and rank the zero-loss and one-loss teams for the final 12.

You nailed it Rajah. They flipped positions. Miami went from 6 to 5 and Texas went from 5 to 6.

There are still 7 unbeaten teams in the top 25, but only 4 are in the top ten.

Big game this weekend will be #3 Penn State against #4 Ohio State.

Can't believe next weekend it will be November.

Yay for my Golden Gophers. They beat Illinois 25-17. Ok, I don't know how good this is as I don't follow college football. I just like seeing the home town team win. :D

That A&M loss to South Carolina was the biggest drubbing of a top 10 team this week. You can’t be too critical of Penn State losing to a highly respected OSU. The analysts say that South Carolina is just a few plays away from being a seven and one team. But they really made A&M look inadequate. I just hope the Aggies aren’t ready to take it out on Texas in a few weeks. But we know they are.

Georgia Tech  (6-4) beat previously unbeaten Miami 23-28. Real exciting game.

#3 Georgia lost to #16 Ole Miss  28-10  Dominant performance by Ole Miss.

6-3 South Carolina beat 6-4 Vanderbilt  28-7   SC is surging after beating Texas A & M last week.

No. 17 Iowa State Cyclones lost to Kansas Jayhawks   36-45  Strong performance by Kansas.

Texas should be #3 in the AP poll tomorrow. Hook ‘em.

As a Vols fan, I'm just glad to see they walked over the steaming pile that is the Florida Gators.

Stayed up past 1 in the morning to see BYU break Utah’s heart. I don’t care about either team, but BYU is threatening to complicate the CFP.

Maybe not. They'll go undefeated.  Alabama will finish with 3 losses.  Alabama will be ranked higher in the final poll and BYU will be left with the Frito Bowl.  Or with Nick Sabin gone will that not happen?
