MSU - UM game.  Players just came on the field.

M left to go to a party.  Barb called and said she couldn't come, feeling sick.  Just Dan, the little one and I.  Little one upstairs FaceTiming with a friend.

I was so looking forward to tonight.  :(

KB and watching the game looks like all I've got going on.

Minnesota beat Iowa today. Long standing rivalry with a silly statue of a pig going to the winner

Iowa has kept Floyd of Rosedale for several years. Now the pig comes home. :D

Yay for the pig coming home!

Michigan draws first blood.      7-0

Looked strong.  Maybe I am wrong about them being #2 in the nation.

***update***

Michigan 14, MSU 0     this is ugly early

***early 2nd quarter update***

Michigan 21, MSU 0.     I don't think Jim Harbaugh is going to take his foot off the gas.  This could go to 50 points

**update**

11 minutes left 42-0

Last week USC fell from the top ten to #18 after losing to Notre Dame. I wonder if they'll still be ranked after losing to Utah, at home. I don't understand how USC was a three point favorite when Utah was ranked four spots higher.

Washington certainly didn't look like the #5 team when they squeaked by a 1-5 Arizona State team by eight points in Seattle. UW's offense only managed three field goals. Their only touchdown came on a pick-six late in the fourth quarter.

That UofM /MSU game was a joke. Poor state is a big mess the last few seasons.

North Carolina was the real loser this week, falling 7 places in the AP poll. Poor Mack Brown. Texas squeezed up one place to #7, despite a less than impressive game against Houston. Georgia stayed #1.  Michigan #2.

Well it’s all over for me now, except Dallas losing to Tampa Bay on Monday. Another season of dashed expectations and ruined hopes. LOL.

Horns hang on to beat Kansas State 30-27 in OT.  I fully expected to lose. Fugly win. Doubt the CFP or coaches polls will be impressed. But it is still better than a loss.

Some really fun to watch games all day Saturday. After the last game went off, I went looking at college fight song lyrics and spent an enjoyable hour or so browsing through them. They're all listed in alphabetical order on one page so you can just scroll down to any of them.

Michigan State's (which is called Victory for Michigan State) lyrics are almost funny given their lack of success this season.

Texas Longhorn's (Texas Fight) has the word 'fight' seventeen times, not counting the title, more than any other school's. The second line is 'It's goodbye to A&M'.

The Aggie War Hymn retaliates with the line 'Goodbye to Texas University, So long to the orange and the white'. The goodbye line is repeated later in the song.

The University of Georgia's song is called Glory, Glory. It consists of only 8 lines and only four different words are used in the whole song.

University of Washington's fight song may be the most aggressive. It's titled Bow Down To Washington and includes the line 'So heaven help the foes of Washington, They're trembling at the feet of mighty Washington'.

Of the sixty-five schools listed, twelve specifically mention one or more rivals in their song (like both Texas and Texas A&M).

Some of the song titles are humorous in and of themselves, but you have to consider that most were written in the early 20th century.

Maybe I watched a little too much college football Saturday.

Texas is joining the SEC next year.  The last time the two rivals played was November 24, 2011. Texas 27, Texas A&M 25.

Many years ago, the student body informally modified the Texas fight song where the crowd chants “Give ‘em hell! Give ‘em hell! Go Horns Go!“ Instead, they shouted “Give ‘em hell! Give ‘em hell! Make ’em eat shit!“ It was quite inspirational; however, the television networks were chagrined. They eventually threatened to refuse to televise UT football games. The University advised spectators, that anyone heard saying the offensive words would be ejected from the game. It took a number of seasons, but eventually the raunchy version was discarded. “Go Horns Go” still sounds odd to me.

If anyone doubts that college football is big business, ask yourself this... when was the last time you paid $75-million to correct a mistake?

Texas A&M fires coach Jimbo Fisher, a move that will cost the school $75M

There’s something about this it doesn’t make sense. Jimbo is six and four on the season, and had an impressive win over Mississippi State on Saturday. We’re going to find out something else is going on. My prediction is a scandal. Either of a personal nature, or NCAA rules violation. If that is the case, there’s probably a clause in his contract that will not require A&M to pay him $75 million. Nobody just throws that kind of money in the toilet.
