I’ve got to give credit to the TCU Horned Frogs. Undefeated and number eight in the nation. Both my parents graduated from there, and I used to spend Saturdays sneaking into Amon Carter stadium. Not bad for a little Disciples of Christ school.

Under first-year coach Sonny Dykes, the Horned Frogs (7-0, 4-0 in Big 12), who finished only 5-7 last season, joined 2016 Oklahoma as the only teams in Big 12 history to win four consecutive games against opponents ranked in the AP poll. The Frogs are among six undefeated teams in the country.

Fun fact: Queen Elizabeth II was the longest-serving monarch in British history, but did not live to see Texas A&M win a national football championship during her reign. LOL. Aggies.

Sorry counselor, but your statement is somewhat misleading. Allow me to clarify.

The future Queen Elizabeth was born in 1926, and would have turned 13 the same year Texas A&M won the national football championship in 1939.

She was not the reigning monarch at the time, but she was very much alive when the Aggies were voted (by the AP) as the national champion.

Source

(As an aside, TCU was the AP choice the year before in 1938, the one and only time.)

TCU up a spot to #7 this week.

I think Texas will finish out with a winning season, but it is not what we had hoped for. Alabama taking QB Ewers out with a shoulder injury totally fucked up the season. As I say, “almost only counts with horseshoes and hand grenades.“ We’ve lost three games on the final play. But those are three losses, and we still have plenty of tough teams on the schedule.

I think we will split the remaining games, and end up 7-5. Should get us a crappy bowl game.

Manning is the future. Let’s see how is plays out.

After last night's performance, I now think the Vols have a chance against Georgia.

Still wish someone would knock off Ohio State, but don't see it happening at this point. :(

I watched the game. I knew you would be pleased. Go Vols. You’ll remember Texas upset Georgia a few years ago in the Sugar Bowl. Our Longhorn mascot attacked their Bulldog before the game. So I know the Vols can beat the Bulldogs.

Sorry to see the Vols take a loss to Georgia, LucasShade.

But the Longhorns looked surprising good against a Kansas State (#13) team that dismantled OSU (48-0) last week.  Strong win on the road for Texas. (34-27).

Not worried at all about the loss. I wasn't surprised. Only saw a few moments of the game because I was working, and it looked like the run defense was trash.

I don't think they'll lose anymore games, and that should still get them into the playoffs. SEC Championship spot is gone, though.

Now I'm just hoping Michigan can knock off Ohio State, who is overrated.

I have not watched Ohio.  But I did watch the Michigan against Michigan State game.   Not impressed with Michigan at all.  I hope Michigan wins, but I wouldn't be surprised at Ohio beating them up badly.

You mean the game where a fight broke out in the tunnel after the game and a bunch of MSU players have been suspended?

Michigan had a tunnel altercation the next home game also. It’s the only top-tier school that uses a shared tunnel to the locker rooms. Maybe they need to look into alternate arrangements.

There will likely be charges pressed.  If it was just punches, that's one thing.  The helmet being swung and repeatedly hitting the Mich player in the head is intent to injure or something.  Not just assault.  Not sure exactly.  Anybody know a lawyer that can clarify?  ;)

The legal term is assault and battery. Assault is causing an apprehension of harmful contact. Raising a fist to strike one, or pointy a gun at somebody. Battery is the actual harmful contact. So punching someone, hitting them with a football helmet, is battery. It’s usually a class C misdemeanor. But there’s something called aggravated assault. And that is with deadly intent or consequences. It is a felony.

#18 Texas is favored by 7 to beat undefeated #4 TCU at home tonight. Texas has a 12.1 schedule strength rating. 3rd in the nation. TCU has a 7.4 schedule strength rating. 18th in the nation. I think the oddsmakers think TCU is overrated. My guess.

Texas has three losses by a combined 11 points. Two of those on the final play.  Horseshoes and hand grenades…

Should be a good game.

I happened to notice that eight of the top 10 teams have at least an 89% chance of winning this weekend.

The two that don't are:

#4 TCU against unranked Baylor. TCU is given a 51% chance to win.

#10 Utah against #12 Oregon. Utah is given a 52% chance to win.

Ten versus twelve makes sense, but the unbeaten #4 team against an unranked opponent? I can't help but wonder how they come up with these numbers.
