The Tigers are a lock to win the national championship. Guaranteed.

If I were a betting man, I’d bet otherwise.

That said, it sure was a good game last night and I was cheering for Clemson.

I'll take that bet.... ;D  Think the LSU Tigers set about 10 different types of records in their game while the Clemson Tigers hung tough and beat an Ohio State team that pretty much beat themselves with penalties.  Should be a good final between two really good QBs and their teams.

I got it.  LOL.  Woo.

LSU is going to win this.  Oklahoma is a much better team than the score indicated.  Kudos to Clemson for their come from behind win, but it’s LSU’s year.

Didn’t realize until the start of the championship game it was the Tigers vs. the Tigers.  I thought ‘wow’, that’s a lot of Tigers on the field and maybe Jules should send them a baseball team.

I’m sure the Bengals will pick up some guard at Podunk U in the first round and give the Redskins Burrows.

For that matter, didn’t see for sure if Trevor Lawrence was going NFL early?

LSU or Clemson could have probably beaten half the NFL teams. No getting excited about the Bears getting either one since they passed on Mahomes and Watson the last time.

Longhorns beat up on UT El Paso.  The Miners are coming off a 1-11 season.  Horns pulled their first string at the half.  Then they started rotating deeper into the chart.  By the end of the game they were using true freshmen who aren’t even on the depth chart.  Everyone got a chance to play.  It was a scrimmage.  Final score:  59-3.

I hope no fans were in attendance.

I cringed when LSU said they were limiting their stadium to 1/4th capacity.

That's still over 25,000 people.

There is no reason these athletes should be playing.

18,000 in attendance.  UT is already spiking.  Expect more soon.  In the Power 5, football is money.  Money is God.  God is more important than the health, safety, and welfare of students, coaches, and faculty.

My son did not attend the game.  He is remote learning this semester while we figure out how this is all going down.

I hope these athletes are documenting being forced to play when one gets a heart condition down the road from COVID-19.

Exactly!

"They're young, they're healthy, they'll quickly recover."

About that...

Grieving parents share warning as more colleges mull football season: "We took the risk"

Quote
Two of college football's biggest conferences, the Pac-12 and the Big 10, are now rethinking their plans to suspend the season over coronavirus concerns as more and more students return to school. However some people, like the parents of 20-year-old Jamain Stephens, are worried the schools are rushing towards potentially devastating risks.

"He was literally the light of my life," Stephens' mother, Kelly Allen, told CBS News' Nikki Battiste. "Just an infectious personality, an infectious smile, and just a good guy to his core."

Stephens was a defensive lineman at California University of Pennsylvania, a Division II school that suspended all fall sports competition in July. His mother said Stephens returned to school in part to work out with his teammates.

He died in early September. Although his cause of death has not been disclosed, Stephens' family said he died of a blood clot to the heart after testing positive for COVID-19.

Now, with colleges returning to campus life and NCAA sports underway, Allen said she is worried for other students like Stephens.

"I'm very, very nervous for these young men and women… These kids, their lives are priceless. And it's just not worth it. It's not worth it," she said.

So far, 76 Division I college football programs have decided playing the season is worth it. Several have postponed their opening games after coronavirus outbreaks.

In seven of the 11 states where Big 10 schools play, the rate of positive COVID-19 cases is above the recommended rate for reopening, as are two of the six states where Pac-12 schools play.

"College football is kind of a mess right now," The Athletic senior writer Nicole Auerbach said.

She said the sudden shift towards a possible season is likely driven by lost revenue and increased virus testing, but that may not be enough to justify a return to the field.

"Your football player might be following every single rule. They might be dealing with social distancing in the football facility," Auerbach explained. "And then they walk outside of that facility and they're going to be around students who are partying, hanging out, playing video games, going to a cafeteria."

According to Jamain Stephens' father, former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle Jamain Stephens, that is a risk that students and their families need to be wary of.

"Sports give us a release. Right. You know, it gives us freedom from all of this drama… we are not in a state of mind with it all to make the right decision," Stephens said. "And as you know, we're sitting here right now talking about the loss of my son because we took the risk."

The Big Ten buckled to pressure and will play 8 games over a 9 week period beginning next month. Just when I  thought they were one of the smarter conferences sitting this season out....

Iowa has to pay the racist strength coach they fired somehow.

The four sports they cut aren't gonna cover that bill.

Big 10 "buckled to pressure" a long time ago, and finally are seeing the error of their ways. Big 12 should immediately follow and begin play soonest.

  The End Is Not Near!

Schools playing major sports... why are all Students not back in class now?  No good reason to delay until after the November election...
