Oh yes, DQ was the best!!

Peanut Buster Parfait was my favorite.  Getting the spoon down to the hot fudge....that hot fudge and cold ice cream.  To die for.
And a vanilla cone dipped in chocolate....biting off a piece of that hardened shell. Yum.

Loved their banana milk shakes.

We stopped at a place today to use the restrooms.  It happened to be a little ice cream shop out in the country.  The cutest little girl was eating the biggest thing of cotton candy I've ever seen.  I used to love that stuff.

Dan did the shopping today.  He took the little one.  She picked Kellogg's Corn Pops.

Another thing I would take to my room when I was younger and eat straight from the box.

Wow, I haven't had Kellogg's Corn Pops since I was in college. Loved them as a kid.

You're probably too young to remember that the original name was Kellogg's Sugar Pops.

What are now just called Frosted Flakes used to be called Sugar Frosted Flakes.

I do know that bit of trivia.

We've toured Kellogg in Battle Creek, MI. It's about 2 hours from our house.  I might even be able to dig up a picture of me and Tony The Tiger around here somewhere.

Have you seen the Jerry Seinfeld comedy called Unfrosted? Netflix's lays out a big, ridiculous war between cereal companies in Battle Creek, including the invention of Pop Tarts. It’s a rather large cast. A fun watch.

Yes, I did see that movie.  Two thumbs down. I was really looking forward to it too. Watched it the first day it was out.

Edit ...thought I posted about it before, and was going to post the link of that post, but couldn't find it.

Fruit Loops cereal. That's always been a fave but I try & stay away from it because I can buy a big box of it and tear it apart (meaning eat all of it in two days) and it's just not good for you, lol. But, I still indulge from time to time.

Once I post a pic of me you'll see that not a ton of junk goes into this body. But when I want choco chip cookies or Fruit Loops, I have it. I'm too old to deny myself anymore.

Good for you, young lady. You only live once, and life's too short to deny yourself any reasonable pleasure. A woo for owning it.

One of my Ukrainian foster kids fell in love with Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes cereal. So I still buy it, and send her a photograph whenever I have a bowl. It’s just a silly way that we stay in touch. She enjoys seeing me eat it. Because she loved it so much. Hoping for a day she can come back and have a bowl with me.  :'(

I grew up poor, so, once I was an adult with a few bucks in my pocket I made the rounds of the fast food restaurants to compare/contrast their burgers and sides. I also went to several steakhouses as well as Italian restaurants.

My preferences:
Burgers-Whataburger
Potato items-Wendy's
Desserts-Sonic

Yes they do. But I only find them at those "At cost plus 10%" places like Grocery Outlet or Grocery Advantage, which is sadly on both ends of Lillian Highway here in town. even have Ohana fruit punch soda from Faygo. Faygo Grape is the only closest substitution I have incase Grapico is sold out.

Pepsi. They make and bottle it. I mean no one had it in the NW or NE, so I am lead to believe its a southeastern thing. To most people down here its just the first grape soda and just another in a long line of them, but to me, it embodies the best of humanity and the world. Sweet, but never enough to kill the grape taste. It tastes good with just about any food, except fried mullet or catfish, because the soda for that is Pepsi or an Orange soda.

This may sound like a M*A*S*H/Radar joke but I still remember Grape Nehi. Yes I grew up in Iowa

The one place that always had it was the livestock auction barn. Loved going to the sales with my dad. Nehi Grape soda plus Cherry Humps candy bars. That's the only place I saw them.

You can get Nehi down here, peach, grape. And for the Humps, there is a candy shop worth looking into in Pensacola proper. "Remember When" candy and fudge shop. I believe I seen that candy bar in there with the Zagnut and the mary something chews. Also has anyone heard of or remember cowboy root beer? Its a dead tie with IBC in flavor, smoothness and fizz. when I cant smoke I always carry the classic candy cigarettes, those tasty chalky sticks are far better than actually smoking.

As for candy my dad bought us, would have to be chik o stiks, the peanut butter bars, caramel things with the cream in the center and when he took me and my brother fishing, he often brought along those colorful coconut candy bar things, or hoarshound candy drops.

Oh lots of memories. Wish travel was still in my wheelhouse. There is a giant candy store up here that has some old time candy. I remember they had Black Jack chewing gum. Mother hated when I bought it...turned my tongue and teeth black for all day.

How were you on Bazooka Joe? I tried to piece a full story together with as much as I chewed with the comics on the wrapper.
