I guess Nestle got the plant repaired out near Hawkins (20 miles NE of Tyler or thereabouts).  There's no mention on the Ozarka website, but there's suddenly spring water in the stores again.  I was down to around 45L of water, which would barely last me 1 month.

I'd snagged some other brand of water in the interim before I found the stashes of Ozarka, and it just tasted weird... plastic-y and flat.

In my case, it's medicinal, and not merely a preference.  I'm that 1 in 10,000 that can't tolerate the crap in tap water nowadays.

I'd noticed LONG ago when Phoenix first switched over to chloramine injection... my guts were in violent uproar after just several days of drinking tap water, and it took a couple of weeks of drinking bottled before they settled down again.

Then I moved to Plano and was periodically hit with the same sort of issues, but very rarely.  Turns out just a few ounces of ice from the ice maker in the fridge was the culprit.  I make ice the old-school way, now... with bottled water.

Fast-forward several more years.  I'm the only one in the family that's been on bottled water for 20+ years.  EVERYONE in my immediate family except me has had their gall bladders removed this year: both brothers 3 or 4 months ago, and my sister just recently.  My youngest brother's girlfriend also had hers removed within days of my brother, so there's a chance that she and he both got hold of SOMETHING toxic in their diet.  They both had gangrenous gall bladders that needed emergency surgery.

So, I'm 1 in 10,000.  But then again, y'all KNEW I was a little weird.  :emot_kiss:

I guess you'll die when the apocalypse comes and there's no bottled water anymore.

I hate to bring this up but isn't it the "chloramines" that caused the problems in Flint?  My understanding is that chloramines are less expensive for municipalities than chlorine so most metropolitan areas have converted to chloramines.

Hmmm it kills fish but is perfectly safe for people, uh huh.

I too drink spring water.  I tell myself that I'm drinking less "Coke" so I would pay for that so its okay to pay for spring water instead.

I'm a bit of a conspiracy nut too so I believe it may not be too long in the future before many areas do not have good water to drink.

Think the riots were bad in Baltimore and other cities over police shootings wait till people don't have water to drink.

Naw, the problem in Flint (and a helluva lot of old cities) is the lead pipes.  DC has the same issue, but it's even worse in DC.  Across the country, there's something like 6 million miles of old lead pipes leaching into the water supply, and the municipalities are ignoring the issue; it hits the news when the lead concentration exceed EPA action levels.  When it's reported, that is.  They're downplaying the reports.

Basically, it's expensive to fix, so they're sticking their heads in the sand and hoping the problem goes away.

There are so many things about Wal-mart that irritate me, but yet I still find myself shopping there on occasion. My little pet name for it is "Wal-fart".  :emot_laughing:
The best thing they ever did was the self check out. Love that.

There's no Wal-Mart in my town, I have to travel three towns away to get to it so I go every two or three months to pick up things I need. I get my shampoos, deoderant, hair spray, stuff like that there because it's way cheaper. I check out Electronics, because the CDs are always cheaper, plus they have a bin of $5 CDs which I recently picked up Daughtry's Leave This Town from.

The funny thing is, I was there once when I first found Leave This Town but didn't have the money, so I did go back a week later and as you said dug all the way to the bottom of the bin. :P I found two copies of the first Daughtry CD from 2006 before I found Leave This Town.
I went back to Wal-Mart today and dug all the way to the bottom of the bin again, to find one of those 2006 Daughtry CDs. This time I found ANOTHER Leave This Town but none of the self-titled Daughtry CDs.
I did found three copies of Def Leppard's Pyromania - which I have on cassette not CD - watch them NOT be there next time. I was tempted to by Cher's Greatest Hits but I picked up Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band Greatest Hits instead. I'd already had Greatest Hits 2 so that rounded out the set.

I do also, so what.??
Sometimes it's just nice to collect them.
Also I have my dad's 8 track player with a huge box of tapes (and the tapes all play fine), I know I'll never install it in my truck, but it's nice to have it, instead of the dump having it. Another thing (gasp, the horror of it) I fricking hate Kindle and the likes of it.....I actually collect "real" books, I think my library at home has around 1,000 books or more (the only pain about having that many books is having to dust them when they get so dusty I can't stand it).

Love,
Liz

I agree, I love buying books. I would have bought Stephen King's Bazaar Of Dreams in hardcover last month if it hadn't been thirty-frickin'-bucks. I can get it through the mail order book clubs for a lot less.

I have a massive collection of vinyl, but CD's?

Yeah, hypocrite, but CD's are worthless. You can get them at a pawn shop 2 for $1.

I slagged my 20-to-30 year old blender making smoothies last night.  It wasn't designed for such a dense load of raw veggies, and the magic smoke came out of it.  I'd *like* to have a Vitamix 5200, but at $450 list price that isn't happening this year.

I'd read ALL sorts of bad reviews about the Ninja blenders falling over and dying, and pretty much no bad reviews about the NutriBullet Pro, so I looked it up and lo! Wally World had it for $73 ($130 list price).  I toddled down to the local "wholly owned by the Chinese" store, and it was fuckin' $99.99 in the store.  What the hell?!?  I double-checked the model against the online ad, and yep, same exact thing, but $27 higher in the store (a 37% mark-up).

I snagged one of the 'sales associates' that looked like she had a clue, and asked her if Wally World would price-match an online price on their own ad.  She said that was an online price, and I said "I have the ad up right now... I can order it within seconds for pickup at this store, and you'll have to run back to the pull one from stock... can we make this easier on both of us?  For $27, I'm willing to wait for 10 minutes."  She said to tell the cashier to let me have it at the online price, even though they're not supposed to.
