You've mentioned this to me a couple of times this past month about coworkers not pulling their own weight.  I think your decision to look elsewhere for employment is a smart decision. It's grinding on you and affecting you personally. There is a better place for you. Any firm would be lucky to have you. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who’s reached out to me.

It is affecting me, because I don’t have much of a family or a social life at the moment. And I do enjoy work.

After doing this 37+ years, I actually care about my clients, and I take pride and doing a good job for them.

So when I see a bunch of idiots who not only don’t give a shit about the client, but also have no pride and their own reputation or work product, it just sort of goes against everything I was taught was important as a young lawyer.

And I think that’s the real problem I see in the legal profession now is a lot of young people who have not been mentored , and have no sense of professionalism.

Isnt that a hygiene thing? Guys have told me and I've seen the "for the boys" videos on youtube, that the morning after sex, there can be multiple streams... man needs to wash his junk...
Also, why'd he have a boner?

A boner when waking up is normal.  It's called morning wood.  He wakes up early, ready to fuck the day away.  If I was as ready as my dick is in the morning, I wouldn't need 24 ounces of coffee before my first meeting.

Frequent or persistent split urine stream is usually an indication of an underlying problem in the urethra or in the bladder. Common causes of persistent split urine stream are meatal stenosis, urethral stricture, and an enlarged prostate.

Dimensional lumber at Home Depot ruined my day.  I'm finishing my office space and tried to do some soffit framing.  The 2x2x8's were wavier than wet spaghetti, and not a single one of my frames match.  I got so frustrated with that shitty wood that I said the hell with the ceiling and am going to paint it for an "industrial" look.  Which, of course means getting a paint sprayer.

Lesson learned.  Go to a local lumber yard instead of Home Depot or Lowes for lumber.  I have to frame out some stepwalls as part of this project, so that's where I'm going for the 2x4's I'll need.

My Legal Assistant‘s father died today from his stroke.

Office was closed for the fourth day this week. We still don’t have power. We’ve lost a whole week of productivity due to the ice storm. I sincerely hope they can get things up and running by Monday.

Taking M to the airport tomorrow, she's going back to Michigan.   Love her being around and will miss her.  And she loves her (evil) stepmother. Haha

this goes way back when we discussed how important it is for a stepmom to relate and open conversations for any matter which you have certainly done. Well done honey.

If a stepmother is needed,

then Jules would be my top choice. Following your relationships with the girls for several years I've seen all the love and care a real mother would give. You've navigated the ups and downs of having an instant family like a pro. Through sickness and all the good times you've been a Mom.

A WOO for all you've done Mom.

Well trained and been made compliant....by my cat Neville

If my dad gets married to his girlfriend my stepmom would be named Julie.  Think I'll call her Jules though.

When I first joined we had a chat about children and your kids and I have always thought of you as an ideal mother or stepmother. You. Are. A. Rockstar!

Sad to say that it is not only the legal profession where the young have no sense of professionalism.

We grew up in an age where there was a sense of community, loyalty, and honor. We behaved in our friends’ houses, because our parents all knew each other, and acted in loco parentis for the other. We participated in community and religious organizations. We had only three or four television networks, and we all watched the same shows and news programming. And we agreed to politely disagree over political and social matters, if necessary. We didn’t paint each other out to be the devil, and for the most part, we valued the right to vote enough to actually stand in line and exercise it.

Today, there is no cohesiveness, no loyalty, and for the most part little honesty. People change jobs the way we used to change underwear. And everything is based on a 15 second attention span. We really don’t know how to have in-depth conversations about anything any longer.

I know I sound like a grumpy old man, but it’s really just a strange new world.

SMILF, haha, took me a minute. My brain is foggy this morning.

To be clear, M was a legal adult when we first met.  His youngest was 15.  Though I didn't get along great with the younger one, we still respected each other. And over time we grew to truly enjoy each other's company.  M and I have been like besties since the moment we first met.
They don't call me 'mom', they call me by a shortened version of my real name. (For those that know my real name, take off the last two letters)

I didn't do much parenting. Dan and their mother did an excellent job of raising two very bright, very smart, strong women.  Their mom perhaps should get most of the credit. And now raising one of my own that has just entered her teens, I realize how hard of a job it must have been on her. M even admits that she and her sister put their mother through hell.

So technically I am "the step mother ", but I lucked out and gained friends instead of step children.

Not grumpy, PH. Just a person who has lived through what a few of us on here have.  I would also add a sense of entitlement. The stories I hear from people I know in Human Resources. Unbelievable.
