I’ve got a Legal Assistant that has been a consistent source of problems for me. Missed assignments, blown deadlines, poor bedside manner with clients, etc. I am increasingly spending my time doing purely clerical work that he mishandled or simply did not do in the first place.

So today he brings in a document for my review, and it’s a big hot bowl of mess. I asked him if he understood generally accepted accounting principles, and he told me he did not know what that was. And I said well this document reflects that fact. So I open excel and spent two hours correcting his settlement summary sheet. It’s basically a client’s income statement that reflects all proceeds recovered, and all expenses paid, at the end of a case.

I finally have some thing that is workable. I handed it to him and said “proofread this for me and send it to the client immediately.“ Two hours later I go by his office and ask if he had sent the document as instructed, and he told me he did not, because it was all wrong. He opened my document in Excel and undid everything that I had spent two hours doing to correct the document.

Well my head exploded. Not doing your job is bad enough, but undoing my job, badly? He’s taking it to a whole nother level. I just went home early, I didn’t have time to blow a gasket and read him the riot act. It’s been one of those days.

It’s been one of those days.

I have a friend that hates the office she works in along with a few co-workers that aren't up to the job.  Whenever I ask her how her day was, her usual response is, "Full of fuckery, hon. Full of fuckery."

Wife was dealing with a runny nose yesterday. This morning she woke up with a full blown cold. Will be testing both of us to make sure it's just a cold.

Remember those days when coughs and sneezes meant "just a cold". How COVID has changed the world.

Since the heat has been turned on, I've been waking up a little stuffy.  It all clears after my morning exercise.

Hoping it's just a small sinus infection and not the Cobid

When the cold snap hit, and the furnace went on for the first time, of course it blew out a lot of dust and smoke. And then the air got dry. And then I developed a little bit of a cough. Started spitting up phlegm, then yesterday I started coughing up blood. And I am wondering if I need to go to the doctor. Seriously. I hate this fucking time of the year. Good news is my vaccinations are all current. I don’t think it’s anything serious. But every time I talk more than two or three sentences, I start coughing. And I get paid to talk. Ugh.

In other news: My brother got drunk and abusive (again) last night. He wonders why no one likes him. Because he is an angry, resentful motherfucker. Just like my dad (not too surprisingly, they hate each other). I blocked him. I think I may just leave it that way this time.

Wow! It seems there is a lot of crap going around. For the dry, heated air, try putting a couple of medium size mixing bowls of water in the bedrooms to humidify the air.

As for the grand fuckery at work, fire the dumb fuck's ass.

And now for my what ruined my day -- my usual dosage of coffee did not get consumed. Got up a smidgeon later than usual to go to the local organic market. I got about 3/4 of a mug into me. The wife a little bit less. We got to the market about an hour after we usually do. I didn't buy any citrus because all the good quality oranges were already sold.

We had our usual chat with our coffee vendor then left the market at about quarter after 10. We should have been home in 10-15 minutes. Nope. We ran into a friend on the sidewalk and ended up chatting with her and her new friend for about 20 minutes.  After we had concluded that conversation we were heading back to our vehicle where upon we ran into another friend. half an hour later, we finally climbed into the van and headed home. So, we "wasted" damn near an hour socializing and as a result kind of ran out of coffee drinking time.

I suppose it all boils down to perspective. This afternoon, down on the Malecon, is an 11 hour craft beer and pizza festival. I'm hoping it improves my day.

That is all.

Got T- boned on the way to the grocery store this afternoon. Pretty sure the car will end up being totaled as it's a 2012. I was making a left at a busy intersection when BAM!!! Some fucker must have run a red light and hit my passenger side.
Looking back at where my car ended up, the other driver pushed me several feet into the other lane of traffic.

I had the breath knocked out of me. From the seat belt mostly. FYI... when you're hit the seat.belts tighten up.
And I mean hard. Chest still hurts along the outline of the chest strap. Both side air bags deployed.

Still at the ER for a check up just in case. In 60 years of driving this is the first accident I've been in.

Contact the D.A.V. if need be. They'll give rides to all your appointments until you can get your own vehicle.

You need to be more careful out there Love. Grateful it wasn't worse, but not a good thing to hear about.  :emot_kiss:

Thanks Shiela. I have a contact to help me with transportation. Careful is my middle name. In 60 years I've never even had a fender bender. This guy had to have run a red light.
He was going fast enough to push my car several feet sideways after hitting me.

Wow!  Glad you are alright. Usually a day or two later when you will feel the effects of the crash on your body. Just glad you are okay.

In the classic hyperextension hyperflexion injury, muscles, ligaments, and tendons are pulled past their normal limits. You have a sheering of tissue, and a micro vascular bleed out that causes edema. That’s the fancy name for swelling. But all of that tissue is innervated, and the swelling does cause problems. You may feel fine at the scene, but usually the following day you’ll be noticing pains. And the day after that, it’s usually the worst people feel. But you need to take anti-inflammatories, hot or cold packs, gentle stretching of the affected areas. It’s important to minimize the formation of scar tissue. Although I suspect Bob has more scar tissue in his body than Hulk Hogan.

Yeah I think it's catching up to me. Aching a little and stiff getting around the house. I know it will pass.soon. After 60 years of driving that's my first accident. Not really knowing what happened or where the guy came from is disconcerting.

I can make good guesses tho'. Thanks for your good wishes.

I used to work for Ron Meshbesher’s firm. So let me know if you need an introduction.

Don't know if there's much that can be done. I didn't see anything so what can he work with. Besides, he likes cases that make headlines.

Before I always used Barry Voss. Of course.he got disbarred several years ago. I think.he got set up BTW.
