My Roomba just went down the stairs.  Dan will need to get the tool kit out for this repair.  Or a lot of duct tape.

Or both. I can't say our Roomba ever went down the stairs but we did have a lot of "Error - move Roomba to another location and restart."

That is all.

The middle one came home from college on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Well, she went to her mom's house, but didn't come see her dad.  Dan is a little upset. Not mad, but he has hurt feelings.  He's not letting on to anyone but me.  I just explained that kids that age are only worried about themselves only and don't think about others, and not to take it personally.  He knows she loves him but he still loves seeing his children and spending time with them every chance he gets.  That's why we love the oldest living with us.

My youngest, my mini me, is becoming increasingly independent and distant. He just got elected president of his fraternity. I was president of mine also. But I rarely hear from him, and see him even less frequently. We live only about 20 minutes apart in the same city. But I hear from my other children more frequently. So I understand how Dan feels. It’s not hurt in the sense of feeling rejected. It is hurt in the realization the time is moving on, and your baby is an adult. And you’ll be an old man someday, living alone, full of regret…

My ex, his mother, is very demanding of his attention, and refuses to provide financial assistance for college unless he comes by for a visit at least once a month. So a few weeks ago, I got a phone call from him that he had finished dinner at his mother’s house, and was about to pop a turtle. “Do you think I could come by your place and take a shit on the way home?” I replied, “Don’t use metaphors with me.”

Hope she doesn't browse through the shoe boxes in your closet. But knowing teens, they wouldn't be shocked.  ;D ;D

I know the experience. 11 or so years ago, my youngest came home with her oldest child (two at the time) and when she went home, we felt like the only reason she even bothered coming was to go out with friends and have us babysit. Tell Dan that sometimes, that's just the way they are. Today is her 34th birthday and the "it's all about me" stage is still in full effect. Some out grow it. Some don't.

That is all.

This is why I'm always going by my dad's house. Love spending time with him and hes always smiles and full of jokes. (Minus packers games of late). When we're young we always see dads as authority and strength of the family and dont always think about how emotional you men can actually be.  You all need reassurance just like we do, and sometimes it can be easy for us to forget that.

Gonna go ahead and put this here.
While in Boston, did you make it to Fanuel Hall?  Great seafood restaurants there.

We HATED Boston. The traffic was absolutely horrendous. I was less stressed out driving combat zones while overseas. There is no order people cutting you off left and right, and when we tried, everybody honked at us. In a round about one guy literally drove over the middle circle and cut in right in front of us. We honked he flipped us off and threw a water bottle out his window at our vehicle. He missed but still.  Speed limit is 35 and everybody doing 70-80. Tailgating like nobodies business.

Another time during a green light while we were waiting on an arrow, some jackass drove in the lane going straight and then cut in at the front to turn left... who does this shit? We are not used to that kind of chaos and utter selfishness on the road. Yes there are people who will cut in left and right swerving through traffic, but your the odd one out if you DONT do that in boston traffic.

Then the homeless people swarming your vehicle when waiting at a red light. Had one guy start screaming at us because shannon checked to make sure the doors are lock when he approached. Started waving his sign around saying he has nothing and wasnt going to kill us with a sign. Amand sitting in back put down her window just a crack and said "we locked our doors because we dont know if your a psycho, and right now you're definitely acting like one." Wr yelled at her for antagonizing him, and thankfully the light turned green and we drove off.

Then there is the dead stop traffic jams that add at least 10-15 minutes to any drive.

Oh, and because we ended up showing up a day early we got a room at a different hotel because it would have been an addition $1000 to add one night to the reservation we already had.  The other three nights were $900 all together.  And this hotel was a DUMP. The door didn't seem the shut all the way. No deadbolt, but a rusty chain. We pushed furniture in front of the door for added security, and you could hear everything the neighbors were doing.  They had kids and loved blasting cartoons on the tv... we regret not dishing out that extra grand.

Next time we go, if we do it again, we're getting a hotel in Salem.  Will be worth the extra money to stay out of Boston as much as possible.

Perfectly clear skies last night when the sun went down.  I got an email notification that the ISS would be visible at 7:15 am. And it was going to pass almost exactly overhead.

Time: Sat Nov 05 7:15 AM
Visible: 6 min
Max Height: 88°
Appears: 19° above NW
Disappears: 10° above SE"

So, I got up, and it was cloudy.  😞

I guess it didn't ruin my day, but I always like to see the ISS flyover when possible.

But last night when I received the email and mentioned to everyone in an excited voice that 7:15 am we could see it, they all said, "please don't wake me up."   I told them they are all fuddy duds.

In central Boston, the streets curve every which way because they just paved over former cow paths. In the back bay area, the streets are more a grid system.  My first time flying into Boston, I saw the hotel I was staying at, but couldn't get to it because of all the winding streets.

Well daughter and son-in-law pull.out early tomorrow morning heading back to their home in New York. It's been great having them here. This time it seems harder to see them go.

They'll be back in the spring again. I just hope I'll still be able to get around then.

We had a real nice visit this time. Just have to wait and see what the future brings. Regular phone calls, some video chats make the time between visits go faster. :D

I hate changing the clock.   Sunset was at 6:18pm, now it will be 5:18pm.   I wish Michigan would get off of daylights savings.  Hate hate hate.

Spring is worse because we lose an hour.  It never used to affect me, but in my old age it does.

I've gotten to old to care about time changes. Being retired has most to do with that as we have no schedule to keep.

Other than the cell phone and computer, none of the clocks are self changing. It's a chore I hate doing.

Last night I took the clock in the kitchen down to reset that one. The little wheel thingy for resetting the clock had fallen off. I was able to turn the nub of a post where it had been with a pair of pliers. There will.be another clock needed before that one's battery runs down and needs replacement.

As for the clock in the car...we'll spring will come again in a few months and that clock will be correct again. :emot_laughing:

The only clock that still requires changing in my house is the one on the stove. And nobody really uses that. Every other time keeping device, including the car, syncs with the Internet. So everything automatically changed. Which is good. I always hated that walking around changing the clocks thing.

The Senate passed a bill to have permanent daylight time. But the  House has refused to vote on it for some reason. Permanent daylight time would give an extra hour of daylight in the evenings, but it would also mean starting the work and school day in the dark.
