I agree Kwik Trips are great. There's not too many in the metro area and the mostly in outlaying areas. Speedway was SA and before that Super America. Now they've been bought by 7-Eleven. Which is funny as it was Super America that bought the 7 Eleven's back in the 80s. Everything comes full circle.

Our favorite is the Holiday Station Stores. Have the best coffee.

We saw those but we couldn't get the RV in.  Even some in the U.P.



What ruined my day........ The wind and rain the last few days brought down a ton of leaves.   Firing up the lawn mower and mulching the sh*t out of them.  It's too cold though.  Maybe I will wait for tomorrow.  70's coming, so says the weatherman.

My Sasha was feeling poorly, abdominal swelling, fatigue.  She thought it was constipation, but then the jaundice set in. She went to the doctor, who sent her to the hospital for testing. The diagnosis is cirrhosis of the liver.

TIL cirrhosis slows the normal flow of blood through the liver, thus increasing pressure in the vein that brings blood to the liver from the intestines and spleen. The increased pressure in the portal vein can cause fluid to accumulate in the legs (edema) and in the abdomen (ascites). Sasha has serious ascites, and she’s been in the hospital for almost three weeks now.

Sasha doesn’t drink, but like my ICSO (it’s complicated significant other), she had a back injury a few years ago and takes a lot of drugs and injections. She is killing her liver. 34 years old. Such a sexy beautiful woman. Damn Russians.

Either I know how to pick them, or getting involved with Toe is a curse.  Public service message.

DO NOT EVER BLAME YOURSELF. EVER. People will always do as they please, even when the path is unclear they will go with what is easiest for them. You are a good man, but the personal problems of your lovers are on them, unless you are directly involved with it. Try and get her help as best you can, but understand its ultimately on the person to either get help and get better or not. She seems like a lovely woman, and I hope she can get the treatment she needs and you can continue your torrid love affair with her, but I will not offer pretty empty words for you. Blaming yourself will only lead you down a slippery slope of self loathing and denial of the reality around you. I watched many good men almost kill themselves over those stupid questions "Is it my fault?" "What could I have done differently?" Nothing. There is nothing you can do except try to help her see the need for help, because from that point on its on her whether she seeks it or not. You are too good of a man to put any stock in thinking you are cursed.

Oh, I agree.  I just can’t believe ICSO gets kidney failure in July and Sasha gets cirrhosis in October.  What are the odds of that? Here I am, the old man, still enjoying relatively good health (knock on wood).

Life is insanely funny like that. Like the cruelest joke it could play. But I am here for you, like my great grandmother said to me before passing "Nothing beautiful in life is supposed to last, crying for it is useless because it takes the beautiful colors of the memories of it away." I'm feeling perfectly fine this morning.  I did cover up with a heavy blanket on top of my normal sheet and blanket.  I couldn't fall asleep (likely because of my evening nap), but last looked at the clock at appx 1:45.    At 2:30 I had to pee.  Fell right back to sleep, thankfully.  At 4:00 I woke up drenched in sweat.  Pushed the heavy blanket off.   Got up about 40 minutes ago.  No chills, no headache.  Feeling a little weak.    M took A to school for me. And now Barb is coming over about 10am to check up on me.  I told her I was fine and she said okay, but then mentioned she baked some lemon bread that I LOVE and she was just prepping the icing for it.   Well!  I told her to quit screwing around and get her ass over here.

And keeping with the subject topic.  What ruined my day?   I didn't win the Powerball.

Daughter and husband are in town for a couple weeks. Had a lot of fun so far.

Went out for big dinner at a favorite Italian Restaurant at noon. Took wife's son along too. Big family affair.

Got to the restaurant and got a handicapped spot for wife and me. As I was easing my way out of my seat a little old lady came up to my door and asked if I needed any help.

I said thanks, but just need to take my time. I got out and shut my door so she could get in hers. Dang...she only came up to my shoulder and must have been half my weight.

Otherwise it was a great day and a great meal. We all had a lot of fun. Naturally there were lots of laughs about my getting such a sweet offer of help.
