Got word last night that a friend broke his hip. It's the hip he had replaced years ago. I think wife said he broke the socket that the ball fits in.

Just heard a little while ago they had started surgery, about 5-7 hours.

To top it off, he has COPD. He quit going out of the house a long time ago and won't do any exercises to help. Don't know how he's going to handle rehab for this .

So sorry to hear about your friend love.

They will probably do something in water. Not a swimming pool, but in a tub where he can keep his chest above water. It wont be easy, but read is never easy. Hope it isnt too much for him.

What's too much to for him his his mental attitude. He's lost interest in most any thing. Sleeps late. Stays in the basement. Gets confused with his medication. They got him a machine that has a timer to deliver his pills at the proper time. He kept opening that and messing up the pills. So wife took the key and hid it. Some how he still managed to break into it

When we visit, he seems normal. I get all the horror stories.from the wife. Just have to see what I can do to help.

I can post text. But if I try to post media, I get a 503. True with Chrome and Safari. Home and office networks. Weird.

I had that a couple of days ago, but it only seemed to last a few minutes.

My best friend isn't doing well at all after breaking his hip Saturday. He had a four hour surgery on Sunday to repair the hip but sounds like he broke his mind too.

He doesn't know what's going on. Keeps talking about going home and trying to get out of bed. Doesn't realize he's broken his hip. Worse, he's pulled out his catheter three times. Now they've left the little balloon like thing inflated.

Yesterday his hemoglobin levels tanked, even though he's been giving blood.

He has a nurse at his bedside around the clock. What I hated hearing was he's being very abusive towards them. All the good care I've gotten, I know how nice the nurs s are. And he's not that kind of person. He's always been nice to people and helping out when he can . This is a complete 180 for him.

Two very ungrateful clients. I settled two different cases for good money, I agreed to reduce my fees, negotiated huge reductions from their medical care providers, and they both balked at signing  paperwork to finalize matters. Long telephone conferences with people calling me every name in the book.  They epitomize Toe’s Law:

Client satisfaction is inversely proportional to results obtained.

Meaning, the better job you do for someone, the more likely they are to call you a son of a bitch and file a complaint with the state bar.

Unfortunately for these clients, we’ve already signed a mediation agreement, and so they are obligated contractually to comply with the settlements. But it’s really sad to spend a good part of your year working on projects, only to have clients who don’t have the common sense to recognize or be grateful for your skills and efforts.

I have a theory it’s a moon phase. And the bat shit crazy ones all come out. Halloween effect.

I smell a possible slander/Libel settlement coming your way, use it to buy a Maclaren Senna and ride to work in style.

Received a phone call today from the school district.
They called to notify us that 'A'  is close to exceeding the maximum number of days she can do remote learning. Yet, I have an email from the school district stating there is no limit on remote days, dated August 15th. Dan mentioned this and they said, "Oh, that was revised on October 4th."
"We haven't received communication stating such," Dan replied.
"It will be announced in the October 15th parent newsletter."
It was on speaker and when I heard this, in anger I yelled, "Are you fucking kidding me."  It came out surprisingly clear.  It usually does when I scream.
So, we are headed straight home tomorrow.  4 hour drive. We were planning on coming home on Friday.  So, she will be in class on Tuesday morning.
She has done well on every test and turned in every assignment.  Her online attendance is 98%. The times she missed was due to bad internet connections.

They tried that shit here with my youngest, who does love going to school, but would rather be in her comfy pj's and study. So I send her to school, by bus, forcing the county to send a bus into the neighborhood to get her because the closest school bus stop is near a highway and that shit wont fly.

So sorry your vaca got cut short. It's a beautiful time of year to be traveling in that part of the country. A$$hats who run the school must be crazy to put a new policy in effect without giving the parents prior notice. So A will be back in class being the bright student she is. :emot_kiss:

So they haven't even announced the new policy yet officially, but they're already starting to count it against her? Are you fucking kidding me, indeed

And these are the people in charge of educating children.  Perhaps they should attend some classes themselves. Preferably some they have no control over.

They wonder why people home school.

Don't be surprised to see "A" come home with an assignment requiring that she needs to write 100 times that "my mother should not swear when on the speaker".  ;D ;D

I can just imagine MJ going ballistic if they used her outburst as a reason to punish the kid.

Yesterday was my firstborn daughter's birthday and while searching for something else I pulled her file out of my old metal file cabinet and found a sheet of paper where she had written 25 sentences that said, "Belching in public is not socially acceptable." That was dated June 1990.

Apparently it wasn't enough. Below that in the file, dated November of the same year, was a sheet with 100 handwritten sentences that said, "I will not belch in public because it is rude."

I don't remember either time it happened, but the first sentence on each page was my handwriting.

There were other things in her file that I didn't remember, but I'm glad I tucked some of those little gems away to save for the future.

Belching in public? I'm sure you have more personal stuff tucked away that you want to keep private.

My daughter and son in law celebrated their 12th Anniversary yesterday. They were to be here for a visit, but plans changed due to her work. Wife and I are celebrating our 32nd Anniversary today. Having daughters anniversary the day before ours makes ours easier to remember. :D

Had to walk 3 blocks to get our morning coffee today. Ran out of coffee in the apartment yesterday. Leaving here on Monday. Not worth spending $11 on a bag of coffee for 3 or 4 days and throwing out half the bag.

That is all.
