I've had many near misses.  Daddy has hit 5 in his life and he is and always was a very careful driver.  Hitting a deer is not the fault of the driver.  I know this.

OK...not ruined, but I've been feeling like it's Saturday all morning. Maybe I'm just trying to avoid Friday the 13th.

As I'm retired, every day is a Saturday really so don't know why I even care. So happy weekend everyone...a day early.

Whats Ruining my friday the 13th? My wifes cousins. They have no plans on returning home until their daddy gives their stuff back. I am not one to judge anothers parenting style, but punishing them now seems a tad too late. I am a firm believer in not being my childrens friend. Friend denotes someone on the same level as you. A child will always be under you, until you are under them in the cold dirt. Its not like I cant be cool and nice to them, but as one half of their creators, its hard to want to try and buddy up with them. I listen to them, sympathize with them, and discipline them when needed, so there is no room for friendship. Cant spank your friends for doing something stupid (unless your kink aligns that way and its mutual and consented too.) So yeah, I want them out of my house. My two remaining teens want them gone. My wife wants to grind them into hamburgers and feed them to their parents. They are the epitome of entitled and disrespectful. Nothing is good, my house sucks, its not a mansion, my pool sucks, because its not huge. I wont let them drive my truck, or my Chevelle I am restoring. They sit around all day and mope and pout. If they werent family I would have told them to agitate gravel days ago.

Like dinner last night. My wife made her famous Full Day pot roast. She sets it up early in the morning, and lets it cook all day with all the trimmings. I would marry her ten times over if she fed that to me almost everyday. It is one of the best meals she makes. She even bakes fresh rolls to go with it after work. The girls were so disrespectful that they literally left the table and ordered a pizza. My wife used every ounce of patience she had not to kill them. I wanted to eat them just for the disrespect. My kids got pissed. Mom does not make this pot roast often. So its special when she does. The reason was she got a promotion at work. So yeah, I called their folks and got the "Let them stay to get it out of their systems" schtick. I said come get them tonight, or you can pick them up from CPS. They whined and bitched about it, and I flatly said I did not give a fuck about their plans, they raised two monsters that I want nothing more to do with. So hopefully they will be gone before I get home. I also will be charging room and board from their parents. So maybe today wont suck as much, as I sit here eating my pot roast sandwich.

Just busy with things.  Working out in the garden and yard.  Going to my fathers house and helping him with his yard. Helping a friend pack up her house she is moving from.  Busy busy busy.  End of the day the last few days I've been whipped.  Plus, we're watching Vikings Valhalla show in the evening on Netflix. So, I'm vegging watching that.   (Hmmm, Vegging--- haven't used that word in 20 years)

Not ignoring KB. I'm just checking in, but logging off pretty quickly to veg

Everyone have a great day.

I'd have posted that in what made my day. Being productive, spending time with your dad, and being able to veg out... sounds like some great days to me.

Two days of what ruined my day.

Friday the 13th, what ruined my day was the 2 hour cluster fuck that was trying to get across the Mexico/US border coming north. It didn't help that the US CBP folks had two lanes closed, 1 lane for Sentri, 5 lanes for Ready Lane access and only 1 lane for all other traffic. Lesson to learn here -- don't cross the border on a Friday.

Yesterday's ruined day started last Wednesday. About an hour outside of Guerrero Negro, our vehicle started acting up. Confusingly, there was no error code (check engine light) showing. Thursday morning, after we had left Guerrero Negro, the check engine light comes on. At our first stop, I pull out my code reader and find that the error is P0740 -- Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid reading error. Because we had a schedule, I chose to keep on going, hopeful that we would reach our Canadian destination prior to checking it out. Well, we were in the process of leaving our hotel in Helena Montana when the transmission failed. We could go in reverse but when putting the vehicle in drive, it would not go anywhere. Got a tow and took the vehicle to a local shop and found out that it was a complete transmission failure and we need a new one.

Now, remember, we are in the middle of Montana. No automatic transmissions just laying around. The shop is bringing in a rebuilt transmission from Washington. Two days to get here. Then there is the problem of putting the job on the schedule. As a result, it looks like we are here for at least a week, possibly longer.

That is all.

Sorry for your problems getting back home JBRG.

On the bright side Montana is a beautiful place to visit. Rent a car and look around. Hope you didn't spend all your pesos in Mexico.

Years ago I met a guy in North Carolina who took a weekend off once a month to drive all the way to Montana, work on his retirement home, then drive all the way back. I'd have loved to hear more about his plans, but every time his wife walked into the room he changed the subject. She told me that she had no intention of quitting her job to go with him. As for what she intended to do when she herself reached retirement age, she responded with a shrug. I never did find out how that particular relationship ended.

The northwestern area of Montana, where Glacier National Park  is located, is very pretty. I have taken Amtrack across the northern edge of the entire state and looked upon miles and miles of golden fields of canola, I think it was, but once you get into the Rockies, the scenery doesn't get much better.

What is worse than having a thunderstorm outside, while stuck in comfortable homes?

Answer : getting caught up in it.
Here we don't have tornadoes,
But this is not insignificant either...

First winds started to blow, like really blow! The windows and doors of every room of the workspace started to bang like that David Guetta song.
Then the trees' leaves started to shed, alongside some whole branches.
Then the power went out.
And the sky went yellow-brown due to all the dust....
No matter how much I tried to close the windows and doors of my room, the wind'd blow them wide open...
And finally, as the dust storm reached it's peak, and very slowly started to reduce in intensity, Lightning struck, thunder boomed and rain took it's place....
Now stuck here for the past 20 minutes, covered very much in dust, waiting for it to subside, so as to avoid any fallen powerlines which might have fallen due to it...

Thank you for that vivid description of the thunderstorm you experienced.

Are thunderstorms like that seasonal in your part of the world?

Yep, during the summer months, more in the countryside though,
P.S.
Finally managed to get out, though now stuck in the traffic jam.
On the plus side, that view of sunlight coming in from the right side of the sky, with the clouds receding towards the left, was great. Also, one of the boogeying trees was a mango one, so got 4 fresh ones.

Edit: Jam over, reason was that a huge billboard had fallen on the road, on a little E-rickshaw, very severely denting it. No one was injured though, as there hadn’t been any carnage.
Apparently a lot of billboards and posters, and tents and banners had been wrecked throughout the very small part of the city traversed to get to home.

Are you sure he didn't mean a week off instead of a weekend?

How far is North Carolina from Montana? Quick answer:  Nonstop drive: 2,074 miles (3338 km)  Driving time: 31 hours, 5 minutes at a steady 67mph (108kph)

That's one way. Assuming you could drive it non-stop, even if you left at noon Friday you wouldn't get to Montana until 7pm Saturday, and you'd be pretty tired by the time you got there.

Bonus bit : rotten icing on the crap-cake —> huge power cut throughout the city.
Edit : a lot of trees and power lines did fall all over the city, hence the power cut…

If I remember correctly, he took a long weekend, started early on Friday morning, drove right through the day and night, and arrived in Montana on Saturday morning. He was proud of the fact he could make the drive with only one pit stop. His wife thought he was completely mad. I wish I could provide details of the route he took, or how fast he drove. I just sat back and listened in awe while his wife glared at him.

Everything’s taken a turn for the worse…
Power’s down….so is the WiFi…
No backup as problem with generator…
Daylight slowly going away…
Data pack is nearly over…
Only light available is the flashlight…

Gosh, I’m making this anti-climatic situation dramatic lol. :emot_laughing:  :emot_laughing:

Got back from the Bison release this afternoon. Slung the camera over my shoulder and picked up the extra lens in it's padded case. Slipped from my fingers and bounced a couple times on the garage floor.

It took me awhile to get up the nerve to look. Finally I did. The UV lens over the main lens was shattered. I couldn't get it to un screw and decided I'll leave that to an expert.

Got it years ago and was about $800 then. I'm in no position to replace it so will have to make do with my others.
