Never before, have I ever been truly grateful for the thermostat which was installed in the hotel room. (And coincidentally was my first ever experience with a thermostat.)

I am of counsel to an organization that facilitates Ukrainian adoptions and fostering. I’ve been doing this for years, and have fostered a number of children in that time. They are extended family. So this isn’t just what’s ruining my day, it’s kind of what’s ruining my whole year.

We spent a week on the phone, made hundreds and hundreds of phone calls, did fundraising, and managed to get 30+ children across the border in three different buses on Thursday. Unfortunately none of my children made the trip. So I was quite heartbroken by that.

Add to that, my uncle’s death, trouble at work and home, and I didn’t sleep for about six days. So that’s why y’all haven’t seen me around here. I just haven’t had a minute to fuck with things.

That’s when a friend reminded me that “there’s a reason they tell you to put your oxygen mask on first, you can’t help anyone else if you’re under distress.“ So I am trying to get a little sleep, turning the phone off at night, and trying not to cry my eyes out when I read the morning news accounts concerning what’s going on in Ukraine.

It truly is unbelievable what is going on there. Was watching the news then other morning and they were talking with a teacher who was hiding in a stairwell with dozens of people, and she was saying that the Russians were targeting hospitals and schools, and this attack is more ruthless than the nazi's. She said that not even Hitler attacked their schools and hospitals.

Fuel prices rose another 10 (Euro) Cent per liter since yesterday. Now we are at 2.10 €/l (about 8,66 $/gallon) and it will probably go up quite a bit in the next days/weeks

Not only was the photo taken by a woman, and shared by her, the female subject of said photo then promptly shared it in her social media.

Bumpy day today…
Messed up while chatting with a friend, just one hour from waking.
Temporarily pulled a nerve or something near the left hip or something, leading to unbearable pain for a couple of moments and some uncomfortableness while walking for the next hour or so while at the workplace.
And after returning home, accidentally Almost used the lift/elevator.
Tried my best to get out the complete second part of my character’s account in Writer Bloque’s roleplay, but couldn’t due to unavoidable issues. (And I had to break it into three parts…) Sorry about that…
Tomorrow is a really important thing, and I don’t know whether I’m prepared for it or not…
 :facepalm:
As of now, gonna hit the haystack in a few minutes…

Weee, another 10 cent raise today. That's 10% in just 2 days. Two more weeks and the people here might just work to pay for rent and commuting costs.

I need reading glasses.  For the past 6 weeks or so, I have to zoom in on most things on my iPad.  And People magazine is getting harder and harder to read.

Woke up at 2:00 AM and couldn't get back to sleep.
Later I was on the computer around 5:00. Felt real tired and had a pain in my chest. Laid down and half hour later decided to go to VA.

Got instant attention when I said chest pain. Had full crew filling my room and wired up to ekg. Later a doctor came in and said it is my heart. On a blood thinner and will be admitted in a while

I'll keep you informed as I learn more.

The club of my sister's boyfriend also got into financial struggle due to the Ukraine war, since they cancelled the contract with their main sponsor Gazprom. Though Schalke 04 is a much smaller light than Chelsea, especially after falling into the the second Bundesliga.

I've had bifocals/progressives/reading glasses for almost 20 years now. And because I love you and don't want you to have to zoom in, here's 36 point font.  ;D
