I have a cat about the same age, Simba had a bout with urinary tract infection that caused a similar problem.  He was a fat cat before and ate a lot. But after the infection he got real skinny and has stayed that way.  He is more finicky with his food now, i have to change the type of food often to keep him interested in eating it.  I'm sure the vet checked your cat for such an infection but just in case I'll relay a good clue of that problem.  The cat will be shy with the litter box, won't pee and the cat will "wet the bed".  If you are finding pee spots under your cat when it sleeps then it is a problem with their bladder or kidneys.  When Simba had his infection he was still acrive but didn't want to eat, he also was a little warmer than usual.  I hope fpr the best for your beautiful cat.

Atleast, she spent all her life with you and your family, making happy memories for all of you, while also enjoying the best company and care a cat could get.
I’m with Staci on checking her teeth, as, although I know very little about cats, it could be inflammation in the gums,
Still, as the vet themselves has said liver, and has taken care of her always, thus knowing her medical history, I doubt it would be something else. Still, very much sorry to hear. 😔😔
Hope whatever it is, she overcomes it, and becomes healthy once again.

[Clitical Thinking]

Took our youngest to the vet today. She's lost nearly half her weight since first of July. Spent hundreds on blood tests and X-rays with no definite answers. She's just not eating...not even treats which she was a total pig about.

Doc thinks it's her liver. Her skin is yellowish and he said liver felt hard. They wanted to do ultra sound ($500.00 +) then feed her with tubes at $200.00 a day in the clinic for several days.

She turned 14 last spring and we're in no position financially to pay that much. She still is doing her favorite things, roaming the house, going outside and hunting and sitting on my lap at night as we watch TV. Doesn't seem in pain, I'm sure she feels the hunger. Trying a different cat food tonight.

We'll watch her close and when it's time, take that last trip to the Vet. Yes, there will be lots of tears.

The oldest cat that I know of that has come through our clinic was 17... I could be remembering wrong.

The two cats we had before the current pair made it to 17 & ,19.
My boy I lost when he was 19, I was just turning 60. Doing the math I realized I'd had him nearly a third of my life.

Well, doesn't that suck the big one. Some one told my mother once upon a time that the cure for a cold was garlic sandwiches and hot rum toddies. I think the rum was to make you too drunk to notice the symptoms and the garlic was to keep others safe by making them not want to be too close to you.

Extra day of "work" today and I stopped at the shop for a coffee, and I ran into Ben. It was fine we talked like we used to, but then he started talking about his brother, and how we ran into each other at the pub. I'm in a great mood, and I don't want something like this lingering in my head all day or whatever, so i just asked him not to talk about it. I said he's a nice guy, but he's really young. He could tell by my clothes that I was on my way to work, but before I left, I bought a shot of RumChata for my coffee. 🤫

I have a feeling it's going to linger anyways.
