The tequila used in most bars are lower quality and have added sugars or sweeteners to help with taste. Just like any other alchohol there are much better qualities with much smoother tastes. Some bottles go for almost $7500. Im not an expert and dont know all the details of american vs french barrels and what not, but if your bottle doesnt have Añejo on it, it's not worth drinking in my opinion. Those are distilled for at least a year, most for three.
Patrón is the most commonly known, but if it isnt Roca Patrón Reposado I wont drink it.
My brand of choice is either Esperanto seleccion añejo or which is cheaper and used in my margaritas.
Like Jules, it does cause excessive gravity to effect the fabric surrounding my body.
And if you walk into my apartment with a bottle of Clase Azul Reposado or even better, Don Julio 1942. My panties will hit the floor before the bottle even opens
