Waking up to find my neighborhood in flames. Another person has died. Stores looted.  Talk of the National Guard being brought in. All because of a few out of control cops.

I am so sorry to hear of this.  Wishing you safety in these troubled times.  I lived in Minneapolis years ago, and was very shocked by the video.  I did not think your city would be a “killer cop” situs, but it shows (again) the inherent racism in the system is everywhere.  MLK said "riots are the language of the unheard.”  Stay safe.

This all strikes so close to home. It's one thing to watch something like this on TV from somewhere else. To see pictures and video of a location where I'd been just a few hours before is gut wrenching.

I was in this Target picking up a few things only a few hours before the looters broke into the closed store.

As we headed home, we had to detour a few blocks, as protesters had blocked the street we usually take.  It was a peaceful demonstration then, but turned ugly a few hours later.

I finished the three part series, on the life of Ulysses S. Grant, last night. It was a harsh reminder of the role racism has played in our country‘s history. Certainly the cause of the Civil War, Reconstruction, Jim Crow, the Klan, the Civil Rights Movement, the Voting Rights Act, Desegregation, etc.  We’re heavily invested in it, and the public for a large part seems to turn a blind eye. Every one of these incidents should serve as an opportunity to pause and reflect, then move in a better direction. I’m afraid our current administration is trying to turn the hands of time backwards. It won’t work.  We will ultimately get there, but not in my lifetime.

Rest assured if anyone tried this with my property CJ would go weapons free.

Shopping for makeup.

No, not for me. My wife can no longer drive and she was running low so we ventured out to Wally World and spent an hour going up and down the same three aisles.

I was gobsmacked by the approximately 1.4 gazillion different products, each one offered in about 0.37 gazillion different skin tones.

One eyebrow thingy was sold in a package weighing 4/100ths of an ounce. To buy a full ounce would have cost $2,170.00! Seriously?

On to the kitchen gadgets. We are now the proud owners of a new oven thermometer, a new set of spatulas and a pizza cutter. That only took 30-minutes.

Oh crap! She's heading for women's apparel.

Just kill me now.

All the riots and fires caught up with me and hit me hard. I left the house to go to the local gas station 4 blocks away. I was going to pick up a newspaper as the carriers aren't delivering, fearing for their safety.

As I neared the gas station where I've filled my car, gotten it washed, picked up coffee and maybe a donut, for so many years, all I saw was a blackened smoking shell of a building with firemen doing a final mop up.

I lost it, still behind the wheel of the car.  I was racked with uncontrollable sobs. The weight of what I've watched for four days now hit me hard. The mobs were just a few blocks from me.  Across the street the drug store that had be looted was reentered and set on fire. That was put out with out doing much damage.

Our local mine supermarket was all boarded up, but appeared undamaged. I saw a fireman turning off the hydrant and told her, voice cracking, that I was sorry what they were having to go through. She replied she was sorry for what we were going through.  I cried somemore.

No idea how this will end...I just pray it ends soon.

Very sorry to hear, msslave. No one wins in these tragic cases. Mistrust will grow. A vicious cycle.

There are a few spots on the west side of Chicago that still bear the scars of the 1968 riots that followed the assassination of Martin Luther King.

Emancipate yourself from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds.

I could say something, but none of it would be helpful. It’s a dark time in our country. Kristallnacht in reverse. I pray for your safety. And I’m so sorry for the anguish you, and many others, are feeling at the moment.

Thanks For and Rick.

I lived in Minneapolis for a number of years, and consider it a second home town. Most of my friends know of this, and they’ve been contacting me this week expressing their incredulity and concern.  My office was just south of downtown, on Park Avenue.  Stay safe my friend.

So far only businesses and government buildings have been targeted. No reports of damage in residential areas. It's a volital situation...who knows what is next.

Residential areas probably have more guns.

Made my friend at the temp job cry.  :'(

CJ's sorry, but it's time to go back to normal life. We'll see each other all the time. We're literally a couple minutes apart.  ;D

Made my first "Boo" in 8 years on KB. Never thought I'd do that.

Didn't think I was that kind of guy, but guess I am.

I use main stream social media for several reasons and one of those reasons happened last week.  Quick back story, I was attending tech school a while back and for one of the classes I needed to make a profile on LinkedIn.  Kept going to the class and then eventually forgot about it.  I kept getting emails and notices saying so and so is doing this and that on LinkedIn.  Well last week one of my more unsavory ex's looked me up on it, and now I keep getting emails. And he keeps sending me messages.  Just so you understand Corey, he makes Eric, the "I'm going to bang the new chick on dog food" guy, look like a choir boy.  A lot of emotional abuse, no physical.

He gave me the I changed speech and wants to know where I live to see if we can get together some time.  I wanted to reply, to say something, but Jake told me not to and to just delete the account.  I didn't delete it but said I did and kept getting the messages. If I deleted the account Corey would know that I seen his messages. Jake found out we had an argument and I haven't talked to him in about a week.  Until today anyways.

I filled most of my new journal with this over the last few days. But I finally deleted the LinkedIn account without saying anything.

This is a very niche disappointment (culturally, geographically and age related), but hey it's my day ruined - learning that Geoffrey Boycott is leaving BBC's "Test Match Special".

 :(

Princess, would you like to see it light up and hum when I wave it about

I thought my gym was reopening today. Alas, not.
I got an email saying maybe next week. Other gyms have opened but in this area they're delaying due to the riots two weeks ago.

Guess Chirp will have to wait awhile longer to see pictures of my re-toned butt.  Or, I can send a before shot of my flabby cheeks. ;D

Why are you so obsessed with your butt? It's a religion for you, isn't it?
