Getting over this cold and feeling better.  On the flip side I was asked to come to work today to help out.  Apparently the bug is going around work and I'm hoping it didnt start with me.
Only have a few more weekends free before the schedule change and this one was completely destroyed.

We went to Cozumel last spring and had a nice time.  Took a tequila tasting tour too.  It’s a nice contrast to Cancún, which is just crazy touristy.

Looked out the bathroom window after opening the shade and saw a hawk on the ground.   Kept watching and he lifted off carrying a squirrel.   Walked into the family room and looked in the trees for him.   Spotted him.  Mr squirrel.  Got out the binoculars and watched Mr Hawk tear Mr Squirrel to pieces.  He ate all but the fur it looked like.  When he was done he flipped what was left off the branch and it tumbled to the ground.

CJ doesn't want beaches, bikinis and tequila. CJ wants a blanky, babies to snuggle with and hot cocoa to share.  :D

Those who wanna go can go. But not me.

Oh god, just reading that... why on earth would you watch... I throw peanuts out on my landing of my apartment just to watch the squirrels eat.  $36 at fleet farm.  Now I'm thinking I'm feeding squirrels and hawks  :'(

Nature.   Oh heck yes I was disgusted by it, but how often do you see that.  Rarely.

There were some issues at work and they needed my help to prepare documents to submit to the accountant for our taxes.   Soooo, I had to go to work today.  The drive in wasn't bad, but the drive home was filled with f*ckery (my new fave word).   Six accidents in about 23 miles and what is normally 45 minutes at that time was 1 hour 30 minutes.  I don't miss working every day, ugh, the time I've spent on the road over the last 5 years of working and having to drive through Detroit everyday.

It was nice seeing everybody though.  And the one girl that took over for me announced she's pregnant today.  Nice, but who they going to get in 6 months when she takes maternity leave.   HEY, don't look at me, I'm used to this retirement stuff.

Oh yeah, also, Dan went over to his daughters place on the other side of the state.  Still having car trouble, but he's got it fixed now.   They're having dinner then he's coming home.  So, 10:00ish.   I guess I'll binge watch Outlander while messing around on here this evening.

Isn't retirement great?  And to think we are as busy now as when we were working.

Yep, we're keeping busy.  At least the alarm isn't going off at 4:50 in the morning anymore.   And I'm happy I don't spend almost 1 hour 45 minutes a day commuting.  Don't miss either of those things.

I slept until 8:30am this morning.  YAY me!  And Dan was a sweetheart and packed a lunch and took the youngest to school.  She wasn't happy because he insisted they walk.   hahaha, he got what he deserved, and had to carry her in one arm and her backpack with the other arm.

It was nice sleeping in.  Even though I don't have to wake to a 4:50 alarm, I still usually wake up about 6am, and stay awake.

My ankle was killing me all weekend.  Sunday I had to ask my Peruvian to take the trash to the street.  I just couldn’t do it.  I figured out it’s post traumatic arthritis, although the doc wants to rule out an autoimmune cause.  Seeing a rheumatologist in 3 weeks.  I know it’s related to twisting my ankle hiking in 2017, but before they will do surgery, all possible causes need to be eliminated.

I saw him today for a cortisone shot, and I got a black ankle brace.  The brace looks like something the sheriff’s department would put on me to monitor my whereabouts.

Would you prefer marshmallows or whipped cream in your cocoa?  8)

Jed -you are smart waiting for second or third opinions. Some doctors love to operate. More money in their pocket.  Hope your ankle gets better.

Yes staci, good call.  The doctors have been trying to blame this on gout ever since I went in 2017 just after twisting my ankle.  But I kept telling them:
I know what gout feels like, and this ain’t it,
The gout meds which work miracles in making gout pain go away are no help at all,
And, I twisted my ankle, so how can this pain not be due to that injury.

The proof was recently the orthopedic doctor pulled some synovial fluid out of my swollen  ankle and I submitted it for uric acid crystal testing - negative.  They also ran tests for infection including Lyme’s - also negative.

I expect once we rule out antoimmune, we can schedule surgery.  He’ll scrape out the inflamed tissue and pack in some sort of cartilage supplement.  I’ll hobble in a boot for a few weeks and hope to be hiking again this fall.
