And the God damned client didn’t show up.  I drive 3 hours in the rain, and you couldn’t set an alarm clock for a 20 minute drive across town?

My Peruvian told me yesterday she was driving on the Interstate at 85 mph.  I asked why was she driving unsafely way over the speed limit.  She replied, ‘I was running out of gas, and wanted to make it home.’

I explained that she was probably burning the gas faster that way then asked why she didn’t just stop for gas.  It seems she didn’t know about the lever under the dash to open it.

You know those newfangled gas cans with the no spill spigots?  Well, I spilled gas all over the fucking place using the new can I bought and ready to toss it in the trash.  Except, you can’t find the normal ones any more (that I never had problems with spills before).  These new ones spill gas no matter what I do?

Meanwhile, I need more gas for my lawn tractor.  Gotta replace the bent blade on it first.  I tried once doing that, hours of cussing later I took it to someone who did it for $25.  Won’t be doing that myself ever again.

So, you're staying, or going?  Sounds like you have some options to consider.  If it's any help, there's not crazies on every corner, there are nice places in, and around the Metroplex.  I really liked Staten Island, it's pretty much Suburban America, but it is pretty expensive.  (Compared to heartland, it's not that bad compared to say the Bay Area of California, or Seattle.)  That's really the only place I spent long enough to say I have lived there, though.

Good tools aren’t cheap, but they also aren’t always necessary.  A $10 plastic can will fill the lawnmower on occasion just as well.  Actually I’m all electric now.

My sister and her wifey are ready to start their careers, and for some unknown fucking reason they decided to start with the big city. They promised to try and keep their goals local to stay with the family. Now they want to leave us and head off to New York and take their daughter with them, of course.

I can't do anything to stop them, they're adults. They could take their kid and leave right now if they wanted to and I'd have no say. What I do have say in is that they are still broke and I don't have to help them afford to go. Maybe if they stay here, get some money saved up, they could go. But right now they'd still be financially dependent on us to survive. I can just refuse to give them anything. Come to think of it, I don't HAVE to give them anything anyway. They're adults. I have enough children to take care of as it is. It costs a small fortune just to feed them every week.

 

I think I've decided to cut off my donations to their standard of living. Move to New York and take Lizzie away from us on someone else's dime. Ask your mother, she's a lawyer. Or ask my mom. Have your wife ask her family to donate. You don't need my help anymore. My kids are my priority from now on.

I used to buy Harbor Freight stuff.   Now I have inherited all of my brother in laws tools and equipment.   BIG (HUGE, GINORMOUS) difference.   You really do get what you pay for with that sort of stuff.

As someone who cooks, the Ingredients have a bigger impact on the finished product, but having the proper tools makes it a little easier.  I use forks, and chopsticks for like 80% of everything.  (Comes from being homelss, and not having a kitchen, much less an assortment of whisks, and spatulae.)

You can beat egg whites to a stiff peak with a fork, you just have to add a pinch of elbow grease.  Now, I hate cleaning out whisks, blenders, and food processors, when I could have just pureed it with a knife, and wiped down the cutting board while I waited for it to caramelize in the sautee.

In graduate school when I was broke, having hamburger helper was a treat.

Upon consideration, when I feel the need for a new gas can in the future I just might go with a metal expensive one as posted.  They look rugged and reliable.  However, I just took out a home equity loan to pay for a wedding and some home remodeling (new wife just told me the new vanity installed in the bathroom this morning is leaking, so had to get the plumbers to go back), AND I just bought her a new car.  So, I think I’m going to scavenge in my garage and see if some of my old style simple spouts on my old 1 gallon plastic gas cans fit on my newer 5 gallon plastic cans and toss those shitty newfangled spouts in the trash where they belong and never buy another like that again.  I may even rant on the websites of the makers of those things.
