Unfortunately not.   I've been hibernating from exercising.  I will not run in the cold, and I hated the treadmill.

I've got an empty house tonight so I just put in 40 minutes on the treadmill and 20 minutes of dumbells, kettleballs, pushups and lunges.   When I wake up Wednesday morning, every muscle in my body will be screaming at me.

My next homegym purchase is a heavy bag.

There's been talk the last couple weeks, but today it's official.  Tomorrow will be my last day at the dog park with my buddy Gus, the Basset Hound.  He's somewhere around 12 years old and last couple of years has had an inflamed disk that affects his back legs.  They've had him on anti-inflammatories and he's ok, tho' occasionally a bit wobbly.

He loves the dog park.  He greets all the other dogs and people, walking up with his head held high and tail up in the air wagging like crazy.  He's one of the most popular dogs at the dog park and it's the highlight of  his day.  He loves to run and chase after other dogs, even with his back problems.  At home, "Mom" says his back legs go out from under him, and she admits her hardwood and tile floors are slippery.

I've offered to keep him on a leash at the dog park, so he won't run.  He'd still see his human and canine friends and continue to make new friends.  But alas, NO.  I have to wonder if there's money problems as there was a divorce several month ago, so only one income plus support pmts.

I'm sure when her work gets in the way I'll be called upon to come walk him from time to time.

Yeah...I'm going to miss the dog park too.  So much fun watching the dogs at play and visiting with the other people. :(

Thanks Jules.  Our pack (three ppl. and 4 dogs) were all up set.  Also, I have a bit box of Milk Bones in the trunk of the Basset Limo.  So, after the walk, all four dogs race to the back of the car, wait for me to pop the trunk and get a dog park treat.

I’m confused.  You have a dog(s) of your own, correct?  So you are losing Gus (for now), but not the dog park entirely, or is Gus your only reason to be at the park?

We recently lost our JRT, and were devastated.  Although it felt too soon, we acquired a pug puppy from friends.  Turned out to be a good decision.

We have cats, no dogs.  The two Bassets wife, then I took to the dog park were from two different neighbors.  Ruby and her people moved out of the area mid July and sadly she died the first of December, three days after moving into the new home they just built.

There was a third Basset, when wife first started but her ppl started having kids. Dad became a stay at home dad and they didn't need a dog walker anymore, so we picked up Gus.  I took over when wife broke both ankles on an icy day at the dog park.  Nearly 12 years of Basset love'n.

L to R, Gus, Tuffy (now in California) Ruby (RIP) Taken several years ago. Gus a lot grayer in the muzzle now. :D

Not my business, but how about a Basset of your own?

I was eating my bagel this morning when the little pug showed up and started licking the cream cheese off my plate.  I cried a little, because I always called our JRT my "bagel hound," because she loved a bite of bagel.

Which is to state the obvious.  You can't replace a beloved pet; however, the fact that you have been able to share love with a dog and bond in the past, is a pretty good indicator that you'll be able to do so again in the future.

Hah.  Can't imagine what the cats would do to me if I tried that.

We're on our last two pets I think.  I hate the thought of my cats outliving me.  Unless we foster an old sick cat on it's way out, I'm just hoping to live to the end of my cats' combined 18 lives. :emot_laughing:

Dude,

1.  You're not that old.
2.  A puppy will put life in your years and add years to your life.

Itchy throat from yesterday is now burning.  SHIT SHIT SHIT.   I don't want to be sick.    Mark got me some medicine Tylenol Severer Cold and Flu.  I'm going to be lazy today under a blanket on the couch and hope to be cared for.   Mark is a very good care giver when I'm sick. :)

Hoping I didnt get anybody sick at the nursing home yesterday.  The itchy throat was on my mind walking in, but I still didn't think it was anything.   So I was extra careful about being too close or touching anything. I'm confident I didn't pass it on.

Yep, definitely sick.  Mark took the girls to a movie.  No school for them tomorrow or Tuesday.   Who wants to come take care of me. please  Mark make me chicken broth soup and some thick noodles..
Actually it's not too bad, just a sore throat and light headache.  Not too bad.   I have my blanket, a recliner chair and watching USA vs Norway in curling. I'm trying to understand it.  I know it's a bit like bocce ball, but on ice.  I don't understand it all too well.

Thank you.  Spiraled downhill as the day progressed.  Hope it's only a cold now.  I've got body aches, chills, super sore throat, pounding headache.  Eyes feel like they're being pushed out of my head.  Mark is sleeping in the room we set up for his girls tonight.  His daughter is staying with her mom.  Chris taking care of my niece.   Life is sucky right now.

All this on my 2 year anniversary at KB.   :'(    Sorry I had to cancel the party. ;)

Sorry Jules, feel better soon.

Seems like everyone I know has been very sick at least once this winter.

If this is a cold, it's a pretty severe-sounding one. Probably best to get a house call, get some assurance it is just a cold.

Me too.  Just talked to a girl who is also sick, and yesterday another girl I know is sick.  This flu season is the worst in a long time.

Dogs broke into my back yard on Thursday and slaughtered most of my hens.  They also killed Little Mama, one of my cats.

They returned on Friday, broke through my repairs to the fence and killed another of my chickens.  Then Saturday morning they came again and now I can't find my last chicken.

I spent the day drafting a demand for compensation letter and mailed it to the dogs' owner.
