Just a week and a half after visiting me, get word my Iowa sister was admitted to the hospital...gall bladder suspected. Just got word a little while ago that she was being prepped for surgery to remove gallbladder. To top things off, they discovered she has COVID.

They do the surgery laparoscopic now...5 small incisions. She's expected to be out in just a few days.

So here I sit 200 miles north.on I35... other sister near I35 to the south and neither able to be there. Waiting......

Sounds like she came through the surgery ok. I texted her tonight and ended up falling asleep in my chair watching TV.

Will try calling her tomorrow. Meanwhile I got some good news. My MRI Friday looked good. No sign of a tumor in my brain. Then the PET scan I had this morning looked good there's been a lot of lessening of lesions on my bones. Shows I'm getting results from my treatment. My Oncology Nurse called late this afternoon and she sounded quite excited.

I'll learn more Wednesday when I see her. I'm cautiously.encouraged. I don't think I'm cured, but maybe I've picked up a bit more time. :D

I had my gall bladder removed 9-10 years ago. Laproscopic. 4 incisions. Day surgery. Showed up at 6 AM, into the surgical suite at 10 AM. No idea when I came out. Doctor came by about an hour or so after I had awaken and told me my gall bladder was the size of a baseball. Went home at about 6 PM with a drain sticking out of one of the incisions, 10 Percocet and prescriptions for Tylenol 3 (Tylenol with codeine) a laxative and something else. Took 1 Percocet before going back to the hospital the next day to get the drain removed.

Walked into the day surgery ward and went to the counter. The nurse on duty came up and said "Hi." I responded with "just a little bit."

Very glad to hear your treatments are going well. Your sister will be back to 100% physically ready to do stuff in about 6 weeks (I was told no heavy lifting for 6 weeks.) Was off work for 10 days.

Thanks all. Had a few texts with sister this morning. Liquid diet so she's bitching at nurses. She fights all her medical personnel then wonders why her treatment is bad.

No doubt the fact she has COVID is keeping her in hospital longer.

I'm having a MRI redone. Doctor that read Friday's wasn't happy so taking more pictures.

Anxious to get full report on all the imaging tomorrow and what it all means. Can't see the reports on line as the VA had a third party do it.

Need to get this moved to what made my day.

I’m in the middle of Nowhere, Virginia.
Surprised I have internet tonight. 
I have 19 messages that I will respond to when I get back to civilization. I have 5 pages of unread messages. 

Visited Shenandoah National Park, new River National Park, Manassas, Virginia where the first shots were fired during the Civil War, along with other Civil War sites.  So much history where I’m at.  Love being here and learning.  So many things I’m just now learning. 

Back home appx Sept 10. Might have better internet when we visit Cuyahoga National Park. 

What ruined my day. … No sex in 8 days, and likely the next 8 days.  No more kids joining us on vacation.

I haven't been to Manassas, but if you haven't been and like Civil War sites, check out Fort Sumter in Charleston, South Carolina sometime if you haven't. Its a wonderful place.

Glad you're getting to visit so many great places. I've never been near the east coast. I'm not counting Ft. Jackson, SC.or Ft. Gordon, GA.

I would have loved to see some Civil War sites, but I'm happy with all I've seen. Just enjoy the new experiences.

As for the kids... can you send them on a long hike? Give them some bread crumbs so they don't get lost. ;D

Civil war site tours, MJ, and you did not drive down with the family to NAS Pensacola, to see the 3 forts, which only one still stands, Barrancas? A good time, for sure, even take the time to visit The Naval Aviation Museum too, if you ever make it down here. I drive into Pensacola often, pretty nice place to walk around.
