Jed -you are smart waiting for second or third opinions. Some doctors love to operate. More money in their pocket.  Hope your ankle gets better.

I’m the one pushing for surgery.  They know they have to eliminate all the cheaper causes/solutions before the insurance will pay for surgery.

Been through this with my first wife.  They’ll put you through hell with the cheaper treatments until more expensive is a last resort.  It’s not the healthcare provider’s fault, it’s the insurance companies.

Insurance companies and lawyers - major reason health care costs are so high, in my opinion.

Don’t blame this on me.  Eliminate the middle man.  UnitedHealth Group’s CEO David Wichmann earned $21.5 Million in 2018.  Total executive compensation at UnitedHealth exceeded $79 Million.

My ankle was killing me all weekend.  Sunday I had to ask my Peruvian to take the trash to the street.  I just couldn’t do it.  I figured out it’s post traumatic arthritis, although the doc wants to rule out an autoimmune cause.  Seeing a rheumatologist in 3 weeks.  I know it’s related to twisting my ankle hiking in 2017, but before they will do surgery, all possible causes need to be eliminated.

I saw him today for a cortisone shot, and I got a black ankle brace.  The brace looks like something the sheriff’s department would put on me to monitor my whereabouts.

Cortisone shot worked, a little lingering pain but I’m not limping today.  Even skipped the brace, but probably shouldn’t have.  I’ll wear it tomorrow.

Many doctors will run all types of tests, not because they think they are needed but because of the off chance their patient may either change doctors or sue them for not running more tests, whether needed or not. This drives up the price of health care.

Just about everybody in my family is a doctor, and I can assure you they are not running tests because they are afraid of lawyers. What my family members complain about are clients that use WebMD and show up self diagnosed demanding medications they saw on TV but don’t need. More often than not, they’ll write script, just to get the people out there.  In the world of the Internet, people doctor shop until they find somebody that will tell them what they want to hear. I personally have clients that have seen 15 different doctors trying to diagnose a simple autoimmune problem, because they would not believe what the first 14 doctors told them or the last one.

My Aunt Amy's dad passed away on tuesday.  Very sweet man, never seen him without a smile on his face, and absolutely loved peanut brittle.  Always joked he had a second pair of teeth just for his brittle.

I really really dislike funerals. Viewing at 9:00, hour long service at 11:00.  Food/drink till 2:00 then off to the mausoleum, there between 2:30 and 4:00.

When it's my time, I'm leaving a note on my front door, walking into the woods and disappearing.  Note will say I'm dead, do a shot for me, move on.

I'm not joking, in my will it says the theme from the last starfighter must be played when I'm sent into oblivion forever.

How members in some American Indian tribes did it. Instead of being a burden on their members, they would go off and die, their belief that their bodies will turn into dust and fall among the leaves and grasses. Then the animals of the forest and plains will feast on those leaves and grasses, keeping the spirit of those who have died.

Never seen it.

See that's exactly what I want.  Let me mourn loss in my way, but if I dont show up then I look like I dont care.  So I went with my dad and was there to support my aunt Amy and cousin.

Funny, I was about to post this and I got a message from someone asking if I'm okay.  Yes, I'm fine.  Just kind down.  Nothing in particular.  Just gloomy.

I love eeyore, what I always thought was great about him as that he never quit, never gave up. No matter how many times his house was knocked down, that determined little bugger just kept building.

I found out my ex brother-in-law died of pancreatic cancer last year.  Surfing to learn more, I found out my ex was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, and had a double mastectomy.  Which is a shame, because she had the world’s best breasts.  I posted a photo of her doppelgänger (her daughter) here:
