Menopause.

Last 18 hours have gone from furious ‘I want a divorce’ and sleeping on the recliner to sobbing on the phone apologies and ‘I want ice cream’.

Maybe it’s not menopause, and she’s pregnant.

Not like I haven’t rode the menopause bronco before and managed to stay on, but no man should have to go through this twice.

And I really need to get laid.

Isn’t she a little young for that?  You never mentioned her age (that I recall), but I thought she was younger than 45ish.  (Yes Psi, I am aware that menopause onset can occur as soon as early 30’s).

Runs early in her family, onset for her was probably 40.  It’s a little hard to tell, because for a while she took meds to stop her period.  It never resumed.  She’s 42 now.

I remember being young and keeping a calendar for girls not on birth control.  At least I don’t do that any more.

My wife is 38.  Her mother was 42 when she birthed my wife.  So she is still very much in the “let’s have a baby” mode.  I thought the foster child might placate her reproductive inclinations.  It only heightened them.

My wife has been having massive mood swings and hot flushes for a few weeks - at 51, she's realised it's The Change, and she's decided to go to to the GP about HRT.

Oddly, though, no other female member of the family has been through menopause - they've all either had hysterectomies before it happened, or died... :-/

Kids running in the house. I don't know how many times I have to tell them there's no running up or down the stairs, no running anywhere period. The seven and her BFF decided to ignore this rule. 

I had to stop them and remind them we do not run in this house because we could trip and fall and hurt ourselves, or run into someone else. This is very easy to remember.

On a weekly basis having to remind everyone (Dan included):  

"Empty your pockets when you put stuff in the dirty clothes. I'm doing you a favor by doing the laundry ,help me out....  Put the light colored clothes with the lights. Put the darks with the darks.   NO, that is not light, it's dark.  Don't put your shorts/socks/shirts in the dirty clothes inside out.   Bring the empty hangers to the laundry room once in a while.  

I did your laundry, I folded it/hung it.  I brought it to your room for you.   Can you plese hang it up or put it in the drawers. "

I haven’t done laundry in well over 6 months.  She doesn’t like to iron though (like anyone does), so she takes my shirts and pants to her mom to iron.

And when she gets up at 5AM for work Mon/Wed/Fri, I just roll over and go back to sleep.  It doesn’t always work, but I got at least 2 more hours before I need to get up. Coincidentally, Mon/Wed/Fri are also my masturbation mornings, house all to myself.
