Agreed, Baltimore Cops need to take a good look at their actual activities, and find a way to construct "seat belts" that are "safe" for the Officer to use on their charges. I suppose a hood over the prisoner's head would be one solution...
This first trial was to be the bellwether, as this was the strongest case the Prosecution had, and a guilty as charged verdict here was predicted to create opportunity for plea bargaining to have some of the others charged to testify against other Officers as their trials come up. Messed up those plans, seems.
January 6, 2016 is the Van Driver's case, and a negotiated sentence was hoped in the first trial, to encourage this Defendant to testify against the van driving Officer. That appears out the window at this point. Hopefully cold weather will help in keeping Baltimorons indoors during subsequent trials, and save the city.
