Hey folks, let's try to keep the memes in the meme thread ok?

An occasional meme is fine when accompanied by comment, but this is getting a bit much.

Good call Boss Lady.  The previous memes from this page have been split and merged.

The mods are getting too lax with our members.  They're running roughshod.  We'll tighten the screws.  *Jules rubs her hands menacingly*

I has a flavor.

Guess that’s why I have posts missing.  I’m sure they were Trump related in a Trump thread making a statement about Trump I agreed with.  I’ll add my own words if it helps.

At one point several years ago, posting memes in the discussion threads was strongly discouraged (I don't exactly recall, but they might even have been banned). There's another discussion board I contribute to that has the same practice. That decision made perfect sense to me, since they're discussion threads.

And that's why this thread was created:

I used to post memes and GRM really didnt like it.  He felt it discouraged real discussion.

I also think apostophes dont need to be included from contractions.  Mostly because my apostrophe key sticks a lot.

This is a meme.

Third times the charm?

This is a political cartoon copied from a news site and hardly different from the numerous linked news articles found in these non-meme threads.

That said, I’m not going to push this issue.  It’s not worth it.  I never interacted with GRM, and I’ve repeatedly gotten the impression I wouldn’t have wanted to.

While I agree this could be a problem for some, I don’t typically have a problem engaging in real discussion.

Today. Tuesday, 15th of December, 2020, Mitch McConnell finally recognizes Joe Biden as President.  What a shame that supposedly grown adults cannot act like adults. Will his boss recognize Joe Biden?

It;s terrible that Trump's lackadaisical approach to the Corona virus and basic precautions has led to a tragedy among his staff.

White House Security Director Suffers Amputations, Three-Month Hospital Stay For Covid-19

The director of the White House’s security office is reportedly recovering from Covid-19 after a difficult three-month hospitalization which involved the amputation of his right foot and lower leg, one of the most horrific cases to emerge out of a wave of infections that has swept through the White House.

Saw Lois’ post and had an ‘Oh shit!’ moment.  This person that had their foot amputated, I know him and his wife, known them for many years.  I’ve been so out of touch with people, I hear about this on KB.  As you see below, I heard he had COVID, just didn’t hear he had it bad, just assumed mild symptoms; he’s a big strapping former Marine.

Was driving today and happened to see a friend outside his house and stopped to talk.  I haven’t seen the group of guys I sometimes hang with since probably Feb, him even longer.  I figured he’d be more up on how everyone is doing than me, so I asked if anyone we know got COVID-19.  Seems one guy had a mild heart attack, didn’t know it, just had been feeling tired; he tested negative for COVID.  He needs surgery.

Only one person among this extended group of 20+ guys got COVID.  In retrospect I should have thought about him being at high risk considering his job.  He works in the middle of a superspreader place, The White House.  His job there is apolitical, security related.

Still, comparing Trump with Hitler and Stalin is frankly silly. There are frankly zero bases of comparison between them. And at this point, ranting about Trump is very old news.

Many years ago I read in Guns & Ammo magazine of all places an author stating (and I’m paraphrasing here), ‘You can tell who is losing an argument, because they’re the first to make comparisons to Hitler or Nazis.’

That said, just because Trump had his authoritative instincts ‘mostly’ thwarted doesn’t mean the comparison has no merit.  He tried to sic the DOJ on Hillary, Joe and Obama for imagined ‘crimes’ among countless other authoritative actions.

And as much as we wish it, he and his Trumptards aren’t going away for a very long time and will continue to damage and divide the country.  It won’t be ‘old news’ for a long time I’m afraid.

I am not a fan at all of people calling trump supporters nazis, or calling trumpster, Hitler.  I find it very disrespectful for the poor souls that suffered the holocaust.  Trumpster had not put a single person through that type of horror, let alone thousands.

That being said, if he had the ability to do it, I could see him casting muslims to that type if fate.

There are points of comparison but I completely agree that likening Trump supporters to Nazis is a great disservice to Holocaust victims.

Sorry, but that’s horseshit.  What does a disservice to Holocaust victims is ignoring those parallels in today’s world.

Lest we forget, because so many have or didn’t pay attention that day in school.  Pardon me waxing philosophical or a bit morbidly, but I’ve stood in front of that rot iron sign ‘Arbeit macht frei’ and wandered among the prison barracks that stretched in all directions, seen the bullet holes in the walls and found myself unable to speak above a whisper.

‘Never again’ needs to be stated repeatedly.

Difference of opinion Sir.

I feel it is disrespectful.  To me, it would be like approaching an amputee and saying "I feel your pain, I cut myself while cooking yesterday".

I could visit those landmarks repeatedly, and even though could understand there was torture and death there and have an idea of it, does not mean I can empathize with those who lived it.

Again, just my opinion, and now I'm done with this conversation

Showing empathy, feeling their pain, doesn’t mean you’re saying you know their pain or minimizes it my dear.  The enormity of what I saw still affects me.

You probably didn’t see where I found out today from a post by Lois that someone I know is now an amputee due to COVID.  I got no clue what I’m going to say to him when I see him again.

And I’m guessing the Proud Boys and others with the swastika tattoos had me confused.

I feel we are digressing from the original thought, being there and feeling what you felt is one thing, justifying that all trump supporters are nazis because some are is completely different.

I did see your post about your friend, and perhaps my comment stung slightly.  Maybe you felt the same sting I do whenever comments label my Dad a nazi.  He voted trump in 2016 and supported him for majority of his term.  This pandemic opened his eyes, and he said he would not vote trump again.

As for your friend.  I know somebody who lost his left arm in Iraq, and something he always said was, "I wish people would just stop treating me different, I'm still the same guy, just lighter."  He would comment on the tone of voice, and the looks he got.

I wish your friend all the best Sir

I hope I haven’t implied all Trump supporters are Nazis.  I really only view those supporters that actually self-identify as Nazis, as such.  I’m thinking of the ones with torches chanting things like ‘Jews will not replace us’ that Trump later referred to as among ‘very fine people on both sides.’

NAZI = Fascist , but Fascist does not = NAZI

However, folks use the terms interchageably and it does not necessarily mean they are accusing those they label so with crimes of holocaust.  I think we all know this.

But for those who object, what shoulld we call those who tattoo swastikas on themselves and proudly procalim themselves NAZI?

I have noticed that those embracing this label are primarily white nationalists that hate Jews and any group they deem "not white".  Are they not NAZI's because they have not the power to start a holocaust yet?

Where the NAZIs not NAZIs before the actual holocaust started?

Good point Lois. It has to start somewhere.

We have a President who restricted Muslims from immigrating, tried to build a wall on the Mexican boarder, separated children from their parents and put them in cages, deporting the parents. There still hundreds of kids being held with no way to reunite them with families.

That he was defeated and still thousands proclaim fraud is not that far off from how other dictators operated. Thankfully our system put a stop to this idiot...yet his followers are still out there.

Well trained and been made compliant....by my cat Neville

Please do not misunderstand my point, I'm just saying that simple because somebody supported or supports trump is a nazi, neo-nazi, skinhead, proud boy, KKK, or whatever.  I am not denying that those people are his fans.  As I said before, I'm quite sure trumpster would lock up muslims just because, if had the power to do it.

It is all too often that I hear trump support = nazi.  I get that people utterly hate trumpster, but that is extreme.

And as this whole discussion started, to be fair, weren't children and parents being separated during Obama's time in Office?  And no doubt it is most likely a terrible, and traumatic experience for them, I'm pretty sure they were give proper food, water, hygiene facilities, and healthcare.  Not exactly Holocaust 2.0

Oh my god I cant stand being on this side of the discussion, but I'll do it the second I feel somebody is attacking my Dad or other family members.

Antisemites, racists, White nationalists, White supremacists, Neo-Confederates, KKK supporters Islamophobes, and any other distaff group you are to mentioned are "out there," they always have been "out there," and they always will be "out there." And yes, eternal vigilance, etc.

It's true that Trump supporters are still "out there." But even though "thousands proclaim fraud" -- in fact, even if 100,000 "proclaim fraud" -- those 100,0000 people represent a whopping 0.14% of those who voted for Trump. And their opinions will continue to resonate only as long as Democrats and others on the left allow them to. I understand that this is part of the Facebookization of modern polemical discourse, where even microscopic minorities are deemed virtually overwhelming in their effect, but these "fraud proclaimers" will not go away until we choose to ignore them.

When democrats and republicans come together to vote against their own party, at a huge risk of being cancelled, and you see such a huge reaction constantly for four years. As they Put in a guy barely functional.when Republicans refuse to see any of the cases of fraud no matter how baseless you think they are. All the scandals all the defamation and you think the establishment is right and the people wanting change are the bad people? If you could really think for yourself and not believe what media tells you, would you think maybe I’m wrong?

Yesterday,  Trump told the EPA to loosen the standards for shower heads, claiming the now 2.5 gallons a minute flow is not enough to do his hair. He also insisted the restricted flow makes showering longer and harder.

We are very fortunate to have a president that is an expert in everything. NOT
