Lois, are your numbers 'incorrect'? I used your statement about what the 'average' American citizen earns. Seemed about right to me...

LMGTFY

Now, take the average monthly expenses of a 2 child family, divide by 160 (40 hours per week, 4 weeks) and you'll get $25.74 an hour.

Check your math.

I wasn't checking Her math.  I was adding the variable, cost of living, on the other end of the disparity.  $7.50<$25.74.  The $20.00/hr Average she listed?  Also <$25.74/hr.  The 2 parent/2 child single income household, with a 40 hour workweek has been the standard for the Department of Labor, decades before the minimum wage was fixed, decades ago.  This is not difficult math.  You want to get into differential calculus?  Because that is what it would take for you to learn Socio-economics.

When they came for the Trade Unionists, I did nothing, because I wasn't a trade-unionist...

Oh wait, I was. (ISA)  I suppose I should be greatful that my identity is that low on their list?  I'll go ahead, and pin a pink triangle on my smock...

The minimum wage should be lifted to $22/hour STAT.  There is no reason that the minimum wage should not have kept up with inflation.

What amount a employee and employer agree upon for that individual's labor should be between them, negotiated with the aid of the Federal Minimum Wage for the position/category used as a base in such negotiations.

Each State may, should the Citizens of that State agree, establish it's own amount for an Hourly Minimum Wage, at variance or not with the Federal Minimum Wage. In the case of businesses doing interstate commerce, the higher amount, either the State or Federal Minimum Wage would then apply, as the base against which the negotiated individual wage/salary is established between the Employer and Employee.

Benefits, if any, offered by the Employer in the aim of Employee retention are over and above the hourly rates established, and often make a difference as to where the individual employee wishes to work.

The minimum wage should be lifted to $22/hour STAT.  There is no reason that the minimum wage should not have kept up with inflation.

You really are a piece of work. Congratulations on regurgitating theory. The reality is much different.

There are three kinds of people in the world. Those who can count, and those who can't.

You really are a piece of work. Congratulations on regurgitating theory. The reality is much different.

The reality is that a individual with American citizenship, educational documents and work experience in the field to which they seek employment, is able to ask for whatever starting wage they may wish.

The American employer who seeks to fill an open position expects, even asks each applicant, for their preferred salary demand, and either accepts that demand, or perhaps counter offers, and makes clear the expectations of the position, and the benefits that go with the offer of employment.

Some compromise is sought between the asking and offering amounts, and thus a contract, an agreement is made.

Win-Win.

A citizen without experience, without the needed educational documents, and without some other (of value to the employer for the job opening) advantage to promote their quest, is left to accept the offer from the Employer, if one is even offered.

One facing repeated rejection may wish to reevaluate their situation, seek the credentials via education for the position(s) they may desire, and meanwhile, seek other openings where the demands for skills more closely match their own.

No skill, no education of value for the position, no experience, then the person has little choice but to accept the offering of a prospective employer for any position offered, while that individual seeks to better their situation.

Any employer will offer a wage they believe will assure the person hired will show up daily, and seek to perform the work needed to retain employment.
Some simply have more "worth" with which to negotiate, or they demonstrate by their work for some time their intrinsic value to the Employer, than seek to negotiate for a more suitable sum.

How do you reconcile the people that live in (say) New Jersey but work in New York where pay and cost of living is higher......then again, how about living in New Jersey and working in PA. where cost of living is much cheaper and pay can be lower (but not below the minimum wage) than New Jersey..??.....Nationally, a minimum wage standard is a fair thing....the variance of cost of living in each (or a particular state) varies widely .......the playing field has to be level.

Love,
Liz

And now, while we're paying attention to an economic scholar explaining how people get hired, the Don has declared himself the Absolute Power to pardon himself.  And you know what they say about Absolute Power...

People will level their own playing field, by choosing where to work, with the good of their own lives, their families, their obligations and desires, forming the choices the individual makes.

Want a higher salary for similar work, then apply to work where greater wages result from greater productivity demands of those Employers, be they local, or perhaps more distant, and figure out how to travel if needed to seek such work, which is likely.

Work different hours, perhaps, than is available locally. Take additional work, be it in your same field, or driving for Lyft/Uber, or a part time position in addition to your usual employment, whatever it takes to bring your income into line with your lifestyle demands and monetary needs.

The responsibility is no one else's but the individual citizen to reconcile their standard of living with their ability to earn the needed income. Live within your means is an old and true statement, and must be the individual's responsibility.

No one said it would be easy. No one will do it for you. If you believe you have maxed out your opportunity to earn money, and your standard of living exceeds that income, then it is up to you, the individual, to adjust your living standards as needed so the two reconcile.  Meanwhile, plan your escape, plan your future.
Make yourself more valuable through education, and perhaps location. Pick up stakes and move, whatever it takes, it is on you to perform and adjust.

Florida man faces groping charge after flight from Houston

Quote
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — A Florida man is accused of groping a female passenger while on a flight Sunday from Houston to Albuquerque and later telling authorities that the president of the United States says it's OK to grab women by their private parts.

Promising a added 10% Tax Reduction could not help get votes of otherwise Democrat leaning voters... they want higher taxes, not lower taxes, right?

Silly President Trump, thinking promising tax cuts would draw voters away from the Party of Tax Increases, and Nasty Women, when we all know they want higher taxes, chaos and resistance, and Impeachment(s) after November, and any good economic times be damned.

We all know Democrats will win at least the House of Representatives, cause the Democrats and leftist Media tell us so, and have for many months... winning Democrats and leftists will shut down anything President Trump or conservative Republicans/Independents want to do from here on out... What is he thinking?

  Right? amiright? #resist...

You're joking, right?  Why aren't you in Trump's cabinet, since you seem to know the entire Democratic game plan for the next 2 years?  Are your tits not big enough, or do you just talk too much?  Invest in a boob job, learn to keep your mouth shut, and apply for the next season of Celebrity Apprentice:  White House Edition.

He could use all the help he can get.  If they are the "Party of nasty women," then why the fuck aren't you a Democrat?

Joan, he made that statement to keep independents from voting against his party’s candidates. A base canard that has no hope of success or even being discussed in Congress. Not even the Republicans can justify a rax cut that would add another 10% to the deficit. Yeah the Republicans are the party that can’t do math.
Reality has been explained to you before. Do you just like being called stupid?

That’s just part of being a Republican.  Close your eyes tight and stick fingers in your ears so no real sense gets in while spouting nonsensical ideology.
