It's really unbelievable.    This can't continue much longer.  At least the Republicans are seeing it now.   Thank you Senator Graham for saying it will be Holy Hell if Sessions is fired.

I sure hope you're right. But I'm not going to hold my breath. I'm not sure that Ryan or McConnell really have the willingness to stand up to this guy. I think those two would sell out their mothers for the chance at another tax cut for the rich.

That it should come to this.

I think it would be great if Sessions was fired or resigned.  He's already changed the rules so that Federal Prosecutors are seeking long prison terms for petty drug offences.  It costs lots of money to lock people up.  And that's just part of the real cost.

You're right about one thing, Lois; this whole strange affair with Trump is making for some really strange loyalties. I mean...why the hell would I want to support Sessions? He's about as unenlightened as they come. And yet, when counterpoised to Trump, I do support him

Sometimes I sort of wake up and realize that taking Trump down (which I feel is an absolute necessity) is in fact just turning the presidency over to Pence. How good can I feel about that? Pence and Cruz are two of the worst politicians in the country.

But anything is better than a psycho.

IF there is actually a PLAN, and that is a big IF, by President Trump to replace Jeff Sessions as Attorney General, I think we will all be surprised. AG Sessions is doing exactly what the Trump Agenda seeks to do, acting quietly, fanfare left to others, and moving straight ahead.

Replacement of the AG with some Trump favorite, qualified but not on scene today, will be a complicated, and not so pretty process. The only reason I can think of to do so, is if indeed President Trump wishes the Special Counsel to be dismissed, a "do over" by an Attorney General with jurisdiction.

Some wholesale bloodbath while Congress is in recess could be possible, not wise, but possible, resulting in a few heads rolling at the top of Dept of Justice if those persons serve at the pleasure of the President, and a new recess appointment AG installed in a "acting" capacity, who would do that job with full authority until such time as his appointment is considered by the US Senate and confirmed, or until such time as his recess appointment may 'expire'.

Indeed the President would like to have an Attorney General with full power to carry out his agenda, personally, not recused or limited in any way, and he is frustrated in that regard.  More important than more upheaval at DOJ, I think, is filling the volume of yet to be appointed or hired positions at all Cabinet and White House levels, and displacing the holdover/placeholders in place there now.

The slow walk by the US Senate has compounded this process, a bit, and that such shuffling has occurred at top Cabinet spots, the chain of command key hires, to be made by the sitting Secretary(s) have been a slog.  Filling these slots with recess hires could help this process, sorting out the process when Congress may again be able to take up such activity.

On to Business Tax Cuts and Reform, then Personal Income Tax Reform, then... then... then...

Thank you, John McCain...

The only slow walk is by Trump. He has no idea what he is doing. His actions and statements to date indicate he has no idea what "the rule of law" means, and how it affects him and his actions. Removing AG sessions and stopping the Russian investigation is on a par with Nixons move, which was and is obstruction of justice under our laws.

In such an instance he should be impeached, removed from office and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Trump plan?  :emot_laughing: :emot_laughing: :emot_laughing: :emot_laughing:

Is that possible with as much as he gets sidetracked with petty bullshit?

And are you saying that it is good for the country to lock people up for petty drug offenses?  Do you have any idea how much it costs to incarcerate someone?

And what about families that loose their mothers or fathers and are forced on government assistance?  And what about when these people get out with a criminal record and no job?

The social cost of such a policy is staggering.  Let us help these people however we can to stay out of prison, reform their ways, and remain productive members of society.

Prison should be to protect us from violent offenders - the rest should be dealt with n a different manner.  Or do you prefer spending your tax dollars on prisons and not schools?

I see the Boy Scouts of America are apologising for letting Trump speak at their Jamboree.

Note that Trump ridiculed Obama for never visiting a Jamboree, whilst Trump himself is the first US president not to have been a Boy Scout since the US branch of the organisation was founded?

Ouch! That's going to leave a mark.

Careful about calling attention to his stubby fingers, Peggy. The rest of us are worried that he'll start a nuclear war simply to prove he isn't as ineffectual as he obviously is.

Peggy Noonan: ‘Weak and sniveling’ Trump is not as strong as his wife

Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan says President Trump’s primary problem as a leader is not that he is “inexperienced, crude, an outsider” but that he is “weak and sniveling” and “undermines himself almost daily by ignoring” traditional norms of American masculinity.

“He throws himself, sobbing, on the body politic,” Noonan wrote in her column Thursday.

“He’s a drama queen. It was once said, sarcastically, of George H.W. Bush that he reminded everyone of her first husband. Trump must remind people of their first wife. Actually his wife, Melania, is tougher than he is with her stoicism and grace, her self-discipline and desire to show the world respect by presenting herself with dignity...”

More chaos in LaLa land.

Trump just replaced his chief of staff.

The idiot doesn't understand that this just keeps his administration from being effective.

Trump has NO organizational skills, NO leadership capability, and NO management skills.

He is a total incompetent.

Reince did not know how to flatter Trump enough. The Emperor found someone else that does.

It is scary to think how easily influenced Trump is.

Yeah, but, is John Kelly just coming to the White House to suck his own cock? This seems to be the criteria that's important at the moment.

I have a feeling that should we get a scenario like the guns of August, the current White House with all of its infighting will not be able to react in a unified manner, or even measured manner. We are looking at a nightmare.

Sure. But even without a shooting war, we're still losing:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/say-hello-to-a-post-america-world/2017/07/27/aad19d68-7308-11e7-8f39-eeb7d3a2d304_story.html?utm_term=.e5e9073f13df

The US has surrendered the field, and seventy years of world leadership has been abandoned.
