For the President to undo sanctions which were passed by Congress, it requires Congress, of course.

On the other hand, a sanction not passed by Congress, and a "Treaty" not passed by Congress, is a whole other matter.  Closing a beach house, or opening a beach house is not a matter for this Congress, no matter how they may vote. A meaningless vote draws flies, always... like a vote to cut taxes...

Poll shows most doubt Trump’s respect for institutions

Two-thirds of Americans, or 65 percent, think Trump doesn’t have much respect for the country’s democratic institutions and traditions or has none at all. Just a third of Americans, or 34 percent, thinks he has a great deal or even a fair amount of respect for them.

Overall, 64 percent disapprove and just 35 percent approve of his job performance.

Trump was unpopular among Americans overall even as he was elected president, but the poll shows that even many Republicans have doubts. Nearly a third of Republicans and independents who lean toward the Republican party think Trump has little to no respect for the country’s democratic institutions, and a quarter disapprove of the job he’s doing as president.

One of the things you discover about being President is that there are all these rules and norms and laws and you've got to pay attention to them. And the people who work for you are also subject to those rules and norms. And that's a piece of advice that I gave to the incoming President.

I am very proud of the fact that we will—knock on wood—leave this administration without significant scandal. We've made mistakes, there have been screw-ups, but I will put the ethics of this administration and our track record in terms of just abiding by the rules and norms and keeping trust with the American people—I will put this administration against any administration in history.

And the reason is because, frankly, we listened to the lawyers. And we had a strong White House Counsel's Office. We had a strong Ethics Office. We had people in every agency whose job it was to remind people, this is how you're supposed to do things. It doesn't mean everybody always did everything exactly the way it's supposed to, because we've got 2 million people working in the Federal Government, if you're including the military, and so we had to just try to institutionalize this as much as we could. And that takes a lot of work. And one of my suggestions to the incoming President is, is that he take that part of the job seriously as well.

Speculation, not leaks by the SC office, leads the W. Post to print this today, in hopes of wiping the Democrat Terror Shooter story off the 24 hour news cycle, and replace it with anything at all... how about the burning public housing tower in England, if you don't follow U.S. politics, or the North Korean release of a US student they have held, and who has been in a coma for about a year...

If Mueller's SC office has leaks already, weeks into buying furniture and office space, and initial hiring of a few high-end Hillary supporters as investigators, we are in far worse shape than anyone thought.

I think Bob Mueller is a worthy person, who will likely take longer than I would like, but will eventually give a respected answer as to the many tangled threads of the 2016 election, and the Obama Administration's misuse of power that has led to this kerfuffle.

I don't think so; the White House is not denying the story, but is rather trying to spin it (albeit a different spin than the one you are attempting -- that all evil in the world leads back to Obama).

"Bob Mueller is a bad dude" seems to be the defensive ploy of the moment, but that's just silly and plays into the hands of Trump's critics, since everybody and their uncle EXCEPT the White House is raving about what an appropriate choice Mueller is, given his unquestioned integrity and competence.

The reason for this ridiculous line of defense (or attack, as it actually is), I suspect, is because the lawyers need to be seen to be doing something in order to justify their fees, even if what they are doing is blatantly absurd, and has no chance of convincing anyone of Trump's innocence.
