He might go after Clinton just because he's a vindictive asshat, too. Remember; Trump's general operating philosophy is "always get even" for any perceived slight. Clinton had the audacity to run against him. That is enough.

I would not put that past him, but I think getting Comey out of the way was a delaying tactic because the FBI (and others) were closing in.

If Trump actually IS innocent, he acts as guilty as anyone I've even seen who is.

So many choices. Seems a full review of the Clinton Investigation is in order, by the Justice Department, along with the acting FBI Director, who remains in place, and has full access to the evidence.

Maybe a Special Prosecutor is warranted to resolve Clinton's matters. Such an appointment would allow full access into Obama Administration actions, or any inactions, and a full vetting of all involved, with no pressure as to time table.

Attorney General Sessions has recused himself from the Clinton matter.

As for the timing, was just yesterday, or the day prior, when Clapper, under oath before Congress, stated that no evidence of collusion, no evidence of any Trump involvement with Russians to effect the 2016 Election has been found.

This allowed some distance for the Trump Administration, as recommended by the Assistant Attorney General, and with Agreement of the Attorney General, to act and remove James Comey from office.

Seems there have been bipartisan calls from Congress for such action, and the time for leadership on this issue was now.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome.


But I'm certain a show trial like that done by the Nazis or the Soviets would satisfy you.

Actually he did say this, but he also said he was unaware of any investigation concerning same.  In other words, he was out of the loop.  So his words don't mean much.

As for Joan being upset about public perjury, why don't we hold Trump to the same standards?  Count the lies.  There is really no comparison.

Sorry, Lois: Clapper's exact quote is in the article below, and he most certainly DID NOT say what Joan (or Trump, or Trump's spokespeople) claimed he said. Katiebee got it right. His exact words are contained in the article linked below, but this summarizes it accurately:

Here's the game the way it's being played:

Interviewer: "Northwest, are you aware if Joan finished high school?"

Northwest: "No. I know nothing about that."

Headlines the next day: "Northwest testifies under oath - Joan didn't finish high school"

The exact words are everything to understanding the meaning, and Trump is CLEARLY distorting the meaning of Clapper's comments. To what effect, one has to wonder, since it makes Trump look guilty as hell. If Trump was in the clear, why the hell would he need to distort everything that is being said?

Collusion does not require that Trump actively spoke with any rush. It only requires that he knew that his campaign was engaged with the Russians, cooperating with them, and that he approved of it, or at the very least did not stop it.

Oh, please include a list of the names of Clinton associates and campaign staff who communicated with Russians during the same time period.

For this purpose WikiLeaks does not count... we already know Clinton folks were chatting them up regularly, and one paid with his life, seems.
