I have a unique suggestion: Maybe we can do some actual scholarly research devoid of the emotional outbursts ?

References need to be sited, and sources listed or we know that you have no substance to the arguments posted and you run the risk of your noise being ignored...as it should be.

I was under the impression this was also an opinion (non restrictive) forum where it is encouraged to start a discussion expressing an idea.
To criticize a poster for stating their thoughts is not conducive to participation even tho the sarcastic one is the owner of the board or one of her henchpersons. It reeks of a former admin known for his way or the highway.

Staci, there is a great difference between stating an opinion and presenting something as factual. Joan consistently does the latter when it is her only her opinion.

Many posts in politics are mainly a person's personal opinion. If we have to start listing sources or references, then it goes from an opinion to some formal response. Granted some topics have gotten a bit heated but mostly posters are pretty cool about it.

As for Merkel, she did the right thing by accepting refugees but now she is experiencing a lot of backlash because the numbers are becoming overwhelming, as it is in many of the European countries, putting stress on these countries in many ways.

Don't you want the truth ? you didn't mention that. You may do whatever you like but as for me I prefer the truth. Speaking of politic and religious concepts I know why they become heated, because you have a huge investment in your desire to be right. Instead of wanting to be right, just find the truth, the real truth and nothing but. If you do this I think you will find what you are really looking for.

I've got problems with folks that just repeat sound bites in reaction to something without thinking.  If it is your opinion, you should be able to defend it.

ChirpingGirl has been nothing but a bundle of negativity when she started her posts by declaring Caitlin Jenner a "thing" and not a woman.  He views were all based on daytime talk shows and people magazine.

"OMG!  Jenner is just doing this for attention!" the talk show hosts said, and so Chirping repeated verbatim.  She is a pile of re-activity without a single original thought in her own head.  Near as I can tell, she never met a paparazzi she didn't like.
