The press conference yesterday was like something I've never seen.   A slide show put together to defend his actions and attack the media for some of their reporting.

Just twilight zonish.

The thing is, I don't hate Trump.  I question many of his actions, but this was just weird. Especially during the task force press conference.  I tuned in for updates, not that.

Trump just can't relinquish control. He needs to be boss and seethes when people under him are smarter then he. And he never fails to let everyone know that he is boss. That three or four minute video had many scratching their heads.

What gets Fauci in trouble is not just correcting Trump’s lies.  Fauci has double the approval rating that Trump has in all this, even most Republicans trust Fauci more.

In mid-March Trump declared a national emergency, then he could not deliver he told the states they should handle it.  Then the New York Times article outlined exactly how he'd ignored the warnings re COVID-19 since January and abrigaded his responsibilities.  Now, in response Trump wants to assert control in the most rediculous way.

I don't hate Trump either, but it angers me that he can't handle his job.

The decision to have Mr. Trump’s name on the checks, a break in protocol, was made by the Treasury Department after Mr. Trump suggested the idea to Steven Mnuchin, the Treasury secretary, according to a department official.

The president’s name will appear in the “memo” section of the check because Mr. Trump is not legally authorized to sign such disbursements.

Maybe this is just an attempt to prevent fraud. There are lots of scammers out there. Seeing Trump's name will assure people that it's a real check, not an attempt by some crook to give you money that didn't come from the government.  I'm sure there's nothing political about this.

The Joint Commission on Taxation report, requested by Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and Representative Llloyd Doggett, concluded that suspending the “pass through” limitation would cost the government over $90 billion in 2020 alone.

“For those earning $1 million annually, a tax break buried in the recent coronavirus relief legislation is so generous that its total cost is more than total new funding for all hospitals in America and more than the total provided to all state and local governments,” said Doggett. “Someone wrongly seized on this health emergency to reward ultrarich beneficiaries, likely including the Trump family, with a tax loophole not available to middle class families. This net operating loss loophole is a loser that should be repealed.”

The usual practice is a civil servant signs the checks; the intent is to avoid political bias.  The intent here with Trump signing IS political.

That and adding the orange clown will delay the checks for anyone getting a paper check.

I’ll get direct deposit, it’s not there as of this morning.

The IRS is rolling out a new tool on their website tonight.  It will allow us to track when to expect our payments.

When I first heard of the proposed payments, my brain took about 3 seconds to go, "New camera!".
