Quote from: joan1984 on March 22, 2013, 12:08:42 AMAs has been athos manner for the past year, regarding any post I made not conforming with his supposed but never clearly debated politics and related topics, he is wrong again. Not saying I am missing his defacing of my avatars (many of them) with some nonsense or other about the mayor of chicago, or his posting panel after panel of repetitive and on occasion clever cut and paste spam, but his sudden escape, from two sites in one evening was unexpected, and puzzling. No one ever provided me, or anyone I know, clique, group, throng, or whatever his last characterization was recently, with athos IP address. Those who may have seen the data made a point of not sharing it with me, and I respect them for it. These are people I have known for many years, and they would no more breech their position with me, than with anyone else.Glad that is cleared up. Now you may each speculate what so spooked athos as to break his shameless pattern, and bolt from not only KB but another well known site overnight. The people who know, would not confirm the matching IP addresses to me, advising athos be engaged in chat, and drawn into civil conversation, and the same for the user joan123. I did not press for a formal complaint, when a procedure was noted for such, and was satisfied by the ability to block him offered on the other site.Staci's comment was a well timed bluff. She did not claim to have his IP, only that IP Addy's don't lie, inference being joan123's contact info, and that of athos131, at the other site. athos still continued his usual way, belligerent bluster, denials, until GB sussed it out, laid out very clearly the situation, and I posted one word: bingo. He then bolted. So now that the mystery of who said what or did what or what ethics were not breached but were assumed to have been by the said party, I hope some will rethink initial thoughts from this morning.I would welcome athos back to KB, as a fellow member, with a proviso he simply take his melds before posting, and go pick on someone Else's posts for a change. Besides he still needs a few more smites to attain his stated goal, surpassing Grm's all time record. I would be very pleased to have no reason to help him attain that goal, personally.Being here since 2008, i never noticed athos posts, and when i looked into it was a bit surprised that I had not before the Joe Paterno Obituary thread a year or so ago. Ships passing in the night. His smites, and rude comments to a friend of mine, caught my attention. I weighed in, then saw him attack another friend, and soon the fuss had little to do with some town in PA that only one person on this board knows intimately, and more with redressing perceived wrongs... athos no doubt had similar feelings, based upon the year long campaign we all have endured, and several friends of mine drew away, stopped posting mostly, left for other sites, but the fight continued unabated, with some pauses here and there. So, an apology to all at KB for having to see this awful episode, hopefully now closed.I regret some of the things I posted to athos in threads here. I meant most of what i said at the time, and acted from pique and frustration. I would like to think athos was reacting in the same manner, and actually has a civil side somewhere deep inside. The stalking, taking over of avatars, defacement of them, defacement of threads with unrelated spam and nonsense reminded me of the psycho posts some made in destroying the YL room in Chatzy, a descendant of Leslita Chat, in 2007 and 2008, which brought many from there to KB, with the full support of Grm, and thanks to Gia leading the way, many stayed. There is lots of good at KB, and this fuss needs to be put to rest now. Thank you for listening. (I reserve the right to revise and extend my remarks, after reading them, lol)I'll take non-apology apologies, for $200 Alex.

Dude, give it a rest. Too much Donald will make you crazy.
The inability of people to help themselves, to elect and demand performance from politicians who claim to have their best interests in mind, is amazing.
After watching Duke's comments, San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz appeared taken aback during an interview on CNN, calling the remarks "irresponsible" and saying they upset and frustrated her."Maybe from where she's standing, it's a good-news story," Cruz said. "When you're drinking from a creek, it's not a good-news story. When you don't have food for a baby, it's not a good-news story."Cruz praised the federal government for getting "boots on the ground," and she thanked President Trump for calling the capital. But she said the situation in Puerto Rico has worsened as people have struggled to get basic supplies such as food and water."Dammit, this is not a good-news story," Cruz said. "This is a people-are-dying story. This is a life-or-death story. … When you have people out there dying, literally scraping for food, where is the good news?"
The Pinocchio TestThough the details of the tax plan are sparse, both Cohn and Mnuchin made statements that are simply false. Of course the wealthy will do well under the tax cut, even if certain deductions are eliminated, and it’s silly to pretend otherwise. And it’s a fantasy to claim that the tax cut will pay for itself — and even reduce the deficit — especially in an economy that already has low unemployment and a booming stock market.Four Pinocchios

The people of Puerto Rico, many of them, did not prepare adequately as their household lack of necessary food, baby formula and clean stored water shows. Residents there know how ineffective their power system is during a storm, know about flooding that near always occurs during lesser storms, and need to know 'there is no one waiting for their call', from past experience. Self sufficiency is what is necessary, whether that means creating suitable safe storage and shelter at home, or leaving prior to the storm to assure public shelter space for the family. Expecting outside help is irresponsible in the short term, and residents there as well as politicians know the reality, need to look inward for answers. The MSM and Democrats in the US are well aware, and are taking no adequate actions worthy of the reality for this island nation, and need to report accordingly on how 'disaster' is being minimized, rather than looking for some worst case issue to blame on Washington. They know, should know, the inability of their Island politicians when it comes to competence in planning and getting help out to all the island residents in an emergency, and they should know to take individual responsibility for their own households, to the greatest degree possible. That is the spirit of, and the reality, of my statement, and I stand by it. The Governor or 'head' political leader was on many TV shows in the past few days extolling gratitude and thanking the U.S. Federal Administration and FEMA for support they received in advance and so far since the storm. What some mayor wishes to vent about is not unexpected, and also not worth the reporting by anyone who is not themselves prepared to offer direct air to that mayor, in my opinion. Opinions are like... Athos, for lack of a word... actions matter, and our Nation is taking actions to further provide assistance to this US Territory.Congress is responsible to move the bills necessary for economic measures in further support of this Territory. Residents there need to look toward those they voted for locally, for more immediate emergency help, when needed.Quote from: Lois on September 29, 2017, 05:47:35 PMQuote from: joan1984 on September 28, 2017, 06:56:15 PMThe inability of people to help themselves, to elect and demand performance from politicians who claim to have their best interests in mind, is amazing.Yep, that's why we got Trump.

You're both right. Joan's post is sort of a masterpiece of self deception and posturing.
In service of his self-celebratory project, Trump has enlisted Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rosselló, willingly or not. Over and over, Trump has noted Rosselló’s gratitude. But the governor is in a difficult situation. He knows that he is largely dependent on Washington in both the immediate and long-term aftermath of the storm. Even as he has thanked Trump profusely, Rosselló has also repeatedly begged for the federal government to do more. The federal government has shown a willingness to deal roughly with Puerto Rico in recent years, resisting a bankruptcy that might help it discharge its crippling debts and seizing control of the island’s financial restructuring. The governor must know that Trump has shown a tendency to punish those who criticize him. “A massive effort is underway, and we have been really treated very, very nicely by the governor and by everybody else,” Trump said Tuesday. “They know how hard we’re working and what a good job we’re doing.” Why would Trump focus on how he had been treated by the leaders of Puerto Rico, when they are the ones recovering from a storm? One could imagine Rosselló interpreting that as a veiled threat not to complain about the president. Conveniently, the lack of any criticism from Rosselló allows Trump to claim victory.
