Donald enjoys a nice Golden Shower apparently. https://twitter.com/Zigmanfreud/status/818975114867851264

I agree.

I've no problem with what you perfectly describe as "the way a few people are using their fame as platforms, you would think he is the devil incarnate." That's their right. And, at an event like the Golden Globes, that's expected (if utterly predictable). I mean, could you imagine the chorus of boos if a presenter or winner there were to have voiced support of Trump, or even cautioned people to take a wait and see attitude? They'd never work in that town again.

Most criticisms of trump thus far -- including most criticisms of Trump here on KB, have been based on what people predict he might/will do. Nothing wrong with that in theory, but, as you say, wait until he takes office and actually does something, and then "heap scorn on the guy."

Or impeach him...
  ;)

Hollywood events are just people preaching to the choir, in my opinion.  Although they do have millions of people watching, who may be influenced somewhat with what they are saying.  But the time for all this is before the election, not after.

I am listening to Trumps press conference.

I am so ducking tired of these assholes who can't and won't answer the questions but instead place the blame on "fake news". My reaction to this tactic is to consider what the Trump administration says as propaganda, pure and simple. Stop blaming others and answer the fucking question. Quit fucking whining.

Whining and blaming others is a sign of weakness.

Trumps language is so immature, ego-centric, and so low brow. What a fucking clown.

His speech is worse than George Bush's.

He is the least presidential person we could have gotten.

No gravitas.

Once again, Trump thinks that foreign trade deals is a business deal, it's not.

He also just put his foot into his mouth on the ACA. No plan, for the "total disaster". Claims a plan to replace the ACA. Good luck on that.

He fucking doesn't even understand insurance.

We are going to have "secret plans".

How in the hell does Trump think he is going to get Mexico to reimburse the US for building a wall?

This simply illustrates how clueless he is.

He is showing how much he thinks he has royal powers.

It is also very clear that Trump has no sense of propriety.

He also has no idea what an intelligence leak is and what is open to public.

What? Are you suggesting we AREN'T going to have better healthcare that's also cheaper, with lower deductibles and we'll have it within two weeks?

Oh ye of little faith, Katiebee! Life under Emperor Trump will be roses and cotton candy.

He is the least presidential person we could have gotten.

Probably true.  But in this last presidential election, both candidates were the worst either party offered.

The worst thing about all this is that so many were willing to believe the worst rumors about a woman, but not facts about a man.

Ummm, you mean the things he actually said? Words from his own mouth and broadcast?

Fake news!

Besides, I don't think it's true that "so many were willing to believe the worst rumors about a woman, but not facts about a man."

Clinton's problem -- and she and her campaign are as much to blame for this as anyone else -- was that "so many" gave undue importance to, or exaggerated, things that she did, in fact, say and do.

As for Trump, Shlong Connery makes the same mistake than many others have made in evaluating the 2016 presidential election. If you drill down, I'd suspect you'd find very few who voted for Trump who "didn't believe" the stories about him. These were, as Katie points out, "things he actually said" and "words from his own mouth and broadcast." Yes, many Trump supporters simply ignored them, but that's far different.

The biggest problem -- something that politicians, political commentators, and left-wing commentators on social media (and, of course, in real life) -- is that these things, in either Clinton's or Trump's background -- played only a minor role in determining the election's outcome.

Some people say the Russians and the FBI's actions made no difference.  But I disagree.  It feels all to coordinated to keep the subject of Hillary's emails front and center.  There even seemed to be a deliberate act to confuse HRC state department emails with the hacks on DNC and the compromising of Podesta's email account. Many comments I've read showed that this attempt to confuse these issues was successful.

Putin I understand.  It's in his best interest to show that our system is a joke.  But what was everyone else's excuse?

I understand what you're saying here, but the question is whether, in fact, these attempts WERE successful. Or, whether the effort "to keep the subject of Hillary's emails front and center" affected the outcome of the election.

The hacks were real, and the releasing of confidential information was real. And the Right did certainly make a mighty effort to keep these and other things before the public up to Election Day.

But did they truly swing the election Trump's way? There's no way of proving whether or not they did, but I would argue that the overwhelming majority of voters who might have been swayed by this information would never have voted for Clinton in the first place. The media, politicians, and media commentators love the talk about "undecided voters." I strongly suspect that the vast majority of voters had already made up their minds by mid-summer.

I think it swayed the election.  How many HRC voters stayed home?  How many undecideds were swayed in the final days?

Of course there will never be a way to prove it one way or the other.

I have to agree with Lois on this one. A couple of hundred thousand votes would have given the election to Hillary.

The best proof that it likely had an effect is that they took the various risks to sway the election process (the Russians, Comey, Assange, etc.). They will pay a price for doing so. Why bother unless you think it will make the difference?

But of course...this is all unprovable speculation.

I heartily agree that the principal reason Trump won is because HRC voters did, in fact, stay home.

But I don't attribute it to the "scandals" (real of imaginary), but rather, to the fact that she ran a lackluster campaign, and there was such a strong sense of an assured victory that potential HRC voters felt the election result was foregone, and there votes weren't needed.

Reading the NY Times, for example, one would have thought Clinton would have won in an Electoral landslide. The same was true in many other mainstream media sources (CNN, Washington Post, etc.). And the same was true right here on KB, where many -- including several people reading this right now -- foretold a Clinton landslide.

But, again, you're right: I can't prove any of this...

Hillary's biggest problem was that she was lazy. She ran a lazy lackluster campaign. She thought she had it in the bag (and all of the polls told her she did) but the wise candidate ALWAYS fights tooth and nail right up until the last moment for every single vote. She didn't.

The last couple of weeks I barely heard a word from Hillary's camp. I heard about Donald all day every day. And, yes, Trump got lots of free media coverage. But Clinton had a billion dollars to work with, which would have allowed her to get her message across anyway -- if only she'd had one to get across.

Her overall campaign strategy (Let's show them clips of Trump that they have already seen on the news a million times) was designed by idiots who should be banned from politics for life.

Hillary had a good platform.  It's too bad she did not highlight it.
