Lack of scientific education may or may not be your problem, but reading comprehension certainly is.

AvatarofTruth, I my comprehension of your post(s) is quite passable, no problem.
My comprehension of what is 'between the lines' is even better.....your problem.

GRM, We agree on more than you realise. I have been godless since I was about 10 years old; even at that age I had a reliable bullshit antenae . I absolutely detest the major church hierarchies and their insidious manipulation of the masses.
Having said that, I find there is a function for religion , even if it is only temporary. I often work in areas where the church is the only functional government. So what do you do while you persuade the population that the Evangelists are evil?
If they are happy rattling their tambourines on Sunday, leave them alone, if the priest starts telling them , for instance, don't use condoms, then I will happily destroy the priest.
Regards L.

In other words, you have no answer to my query. Scientia non habet inimicum nisp ignorantem. Twas ever thus.

"Perhaps you could explain the relationship between theDuke's statement "Yes God exists just look around you you think a big bang could have caused all you see around you ?" and this graph I posted:"

Obviously there is no relationship.
Read my response to GRM above and you may realise why I defend Duke's right to waffle on about his concept of the universe without being put upon by some egotistical twat.

Obviously there is no relationship.

Actually, there is. The graph is from the COBE mission, which measured cosmic microwave background radiation and used those measurements to determine that the big bang did indeed occur. The scientists involved won the Nobel prize for physics. I even mentioned this in a post in this thread previous to my spar with theDuke.

So by your estimate theDuke is entitled to post the ludicrous notion of irreducible complexity and not be 'put on', but I can't post a refutation without similarly being put on by you, it that right?

Well this is Room 1408 and so you can refute, flame, swear, call other members names, as much as you want to, there's nothing I like better than a good fight using the English language.

To "spar" suggests pugilistic competitiveness. You simply dumped on the Duke, then had a shot at his literary skills. He expressed himself in English. Is that his mother tongue? What the hell if its not , it made you wet for a few seconds didn't it Avata?

"pugilistic competitiveness"? Nice tautology.

I had a specific problem with theDuke's argument, which I presented clearly. Pointing out his grammatical inadequacies was just icing. Why, feeling insecure?

Are you used to people smiling and nodding while you post inane drivel? Of course, your real problem isn't with my attack on theDuke, it was just the first post you could find to try and spar with me on KB. What, RC boring you already?

This is Room 1408, and discourse in here comes with the expectation of sparring and insults. I enjoy a good argument as much as anyone else, and I'm very competitive, but did it make me wet? Last time I checked my adrenal glands weren't in my vag.

'Drivel' now that has a familiar ring! ???? Of course! That was the term I used when you posted your nonesense about Tibet on RC.

You then proceeded to alienate everyone on RC's "crossfire" with your condescending posts , personal barbs and plagerism.

My previous {RC} assessment of your social skills is hereby reaffirmed.

What Grm, and some others who are new to me, have accomplished here is impressive. It seems at least as enjoyable as the RC of old. Except for you.

Not that it answers the question.

Obviously they hate me over here. Grm would have deleted my account long ago, but you know how he is. I told him to get rid of the discussion boards altogether, but does he listen? You on the other hand must find something enjoyable about me, you bothered to come all the way over from RC.

BTW, you misspelled plagiarism. Why bother using spell check at all?

Yep, covered that.

I'm amazed there hasn't been an ISP melt down, all your devotees clawing at their key boards, oh for just one chance to have words with the sainted avator.

My ego is a mass of incandescent gas, a gigantic nuclear furnace, where hydrogen is built into helium at a temperature of millions of degrees.

wow!  Does god God exist?  Thank you all for your comments.  I have not been blessed(see?) with a quick scientific wit or the sword carrying faith of a Christian Soldier.  However, I have pondered over this question in my own inadequate way.
I do fault the intellect or lack of it for most of our problems here on earth.  We have the reason and the ability to make this a better place.  I dont argue whether this is god-given or not.  I only argue that we dont use it.  So every day I wake up and thank the powers within and out for the chance to change even a teeny bit of this hell hole we live in.  And I succeed most days.  Not world stopping things mind you, just random(of course is not random)acts of kindness and a little contribution to the extension of our time here on the planet.
I have faith, have stopped trying to justify it in a non- scientific way and I dont have the whereforall to justify it scientifically.  I do think that all the major religions are based on the same truths and each message is tailored for a specific time and place in history.  If that message of hope is brought to us by inspired human beings and not thru them from a god, then so much the better.  That gives me even more hope that the goodness of man will win over the evil.
So this is me, a true believer in the power in each of us, god-given or intellectually inspired.

Does God exist? For anyone with an open, enquiring mind there can only be one conclusion, extremely unlikely. I think of myself as an atheist, i.e there definitely isn't a god, but no one can prove there isn't one, so I guess I'm an atheist/slightly agnostic. Those who believe, just believe, why? Their parents believed and passed on their blind faith to their offspring. The belief in god causes more horror and distress to humankind than any good it purports. Isn't it time we ditched  god and started using our brains?

Well put sir...   I think everyone should go look up Richard Dawkins.  And read his book  The God Delusion

Now... I should maybe post this in my Quantum Physics post in the Science thread, but, If there IS a creator, and he has an influence on this world, (i.e. answers your prayers) then that IS a scientific hypothesis. It is either right or wrong.  I see no evidence of a supernatural creator, so jumping to such a conclusion for me just doesn't make sense. It's true that i can't disprove the existance of god,  but I also can't disprove the existance  of the giant spaghetti monster.  So having "faith" in the spaghetti monster doesn't make much sense either.  Any of you who are religious are actually atheist to many other gods   like Thor and Zeus and Ra.  If you are christian then you think the buddhists and muslims are wrong.  You guys base your faith off of a book written in the bronze age, which hardly applies to our society at all these days.  And it seems most Christians pick and choose what to believe in the bible. They believe the story of creation, but if you lie with your wife on your wedding night and she isn't a virgin is it ok to stone her to death???  the part about homosexuality being an abonitation is fucked up. It's true you can't reproduce this way, and if everyone was gay then the species would die out.  But homosexuality is a natural thing that has been happening in almost all species for a long fucking time.  If your god disapproves of this it is his fault for making them that way is it not?

shit it's 5 a.m. i have to go to sleep.   lol i could go on and on and on but not now... another day lol ;D

there are alot of good posts in here,  i'm gonna take some time when i come here again to read them
