I am an atheist, though some personal experiences or hallucinations seem to indicate there is stuff scientists still have yet to discover, I am not even sure how to label what I have seen though, not entirely, but ghosts I have seen (dead pets), and other things (hard to explain but consistent and not drug induced), even shared a few of these hallucinations with cats, not sure if that means I can project the hallucinations into the minds of cats or the other way around...

Anyway, if the god of the old testament, new testament or Qur'an, or their derivatives ever shows itself I won't worship it, I will try to destroy it, for documented in the holy books are atrocities committed by said god, they don't become right just because they were perpetrated by a god.

I am also reasonably sure that I would want to destroy most non monotheistic gods too, for the same reason, a lot of them are, like the one god, really sick fucks that have committed atrocities against humans and nature, at least if one is to believe the holy texts.

I guess that pushes me a bit away from the atheist label heh :)

Yes something, can an atheist believe in souls, I think so lol, souls are not god, I am sure science will eventually find whatever is behind these strange observations, but I don't think it fits the monster ahem god of the bible, and monsters in most other scriptures, I am not alone in my family to see things either, though what I see does not scare me, I enjoy the feeling of there being an entire world beyond our world, that I can see glimpses of, adds color to life, rather than remove from it.

Of course even if there is nothing after death I don't really care, it only really bothers those who are left behind, those left alive. Those who are dead, if they don't live on in some form are not suffering, since they don't exist anymore, and that beats the suffering many have to go through in life. Life has been suffering for me, and is from time to time, so sometimes I would welcome oblivion, though life is also often fun, so I try to look forward to the fun times, and to remember the fun times of the past, rather than dwell on the dark and suffering.

To reiterate though, the religions of the world, all of them I know of, I feel are not for me, and of those I know of the three Abrahamic religions, in all their splinter groups, are the worst ones. I think their desire to control the world and what all people do, not just their followers, is a very bad thing, then again it fits with their gods.

I believe in letting people live the lives they want, to do what they want with themselves, and those who want to join them in doing said things. As in never doing something against someone that that someone does not want done to them. There are others that can explain it better than me though :)

Now this is not nearly as good a flame post as my last one in this thread, and it seemed to fizzle too, sorry for failing to entertain Grm :)

How very perceptive of you Vela, I think a woo is in order.
Keep trying, you never know a true believer might just stumble onto this thread while looking for a good wank.
Vela, now that is an evocative name.

Apparently most of them got scared off earlier, then again it really is not their type of place, they should leave Sodom and Gomorrah, the destruction of which are but two examples of the atrocities documented in their holy texts that their god supposedly committed, to the sinners and go elsewhere. Of course they would try to repeat what their god did, there, here too if they could, so we have to be vigilant.

Thanks for the woo btw :) Not that I fully get what the karma is good for, might have to read up on that, but woos do sound better than boos :)

I could post a kids in the hall clip, but I feel somehow like that might not be well received.

Ms Hearts, nice to see you posting words instead of your incomparable erotica. But you may not have noticed that we are in fact in 1408, where not being well received is almost an accolade, please post your clip to continue the debate.

True, you'd never guess I'm a writer.  Better to be thought a fool, etc.

so... i never can remember how to post a video directly on webboards, i know this isn't right but it works.  I'm completely open to correction.  ;)

<object width="425" height="349"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always">

I hate arguing about things that ought to be personal, and the problems come because no one will keep them personal.  Thus, I will not weigh in on this subject except to say that I am spiritual, but protest religion at every turn.

I've thought about the end of me and would be pissed if there was not life after death which this thread really is about. Is there? Do we die and that's it? What about energy not being destroyable? Excuse the crappy spelling. God as a bit that had a day off to start a hobby? Maybe. Enjoy it all.

I can answer the energy not destroyable aspect. The measurable energy of a person is the chemical and physical energy of the body, when we die, it remains in the corpse, if we dumped a living person into a furnace and measured the energy we get from burning them, or we kill them first and then do it, we would get the same amount of energy from it. At least of the kind we can measure.

Also you being pissed about something being some way or another does not change it.

As for god, well... heh... my thoughts on it or them is rather clear by now, though there are exceptions that I might actually not want to destroy, but they are few.

Excuse the crappy spelling.

when posting, use the option on right side, instead of hitting post, hit spell check and respond to the suggestions. thanks

God exists for those who believe in a god and doesn't exist for those who don't.  Pretty simple.

Emancipate yourself from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds.

Trying to cool down the thread watcher? :)

*Vela tosses a pile of Torahs, Bibles and Qur'ans on a pile in the middle of the room, pours 100% pure alcohol on it and lights it with a spark of fire from her fingers*

There fixed :)

*Vela impales a few gods on a stake and barbecues them*

I believe in god and I also believe he gave up on us along time ago. Seriouly people why would our creator continue to waste his time on us? All we do is commit sin after sin day after day. Luckily the devil still cares about us.
