A quick Google search, and I'm right: that *IS* Sasha Grey!  :aol_threesome:

I didn't recognize the scene, but I can spot enough of her face to have recognized her.

Remember the Golden Rule: you do me, and I\'ll do you (paraphrased)

So now rope, take a look over at the masturbation thread and see if you know what movie that gif is from.

I don't think our philosophical debate  on the possible existence of a god is moved forward by the mindless anti Christian cartoons which seem to now populate this thread. i.e like the last post from Gia :(
At the end of the day there are good people who are Christians and bad people who are Christians, just like the rest of us. They all have a right to believe in their own private way, but the bad ones seem to take it personally when your choice is different to theirs and some make it their life's work to force you to join them in their beliefs.

What I find disappointing about these pics and graphics is that they represent crude biases and prejudices.

In this day and age, I find it surprising that people -- especially educated and intelligent people -- feel compelled to resort to furthering biases and prejudices in this manner.

I just set off a new wave of Viking and Celtic terrorism.  Look out Lindisfarne.

Be very careful. I mocked the elder God once, and ended up where I am today. You don't want that.

Upon returning home after a lifelong absence, you may find that the journey back was more impressionable than the arrival, and those you met along the way have already shaped your future.

And then there is he who should not be talked about. I will risk the mention of his name so that you will know your peril, the Dread Cthulhu.

i saw in this in the interweb LOL, anyway, I am putting it in the God thread.

Benjamin Franklin stated this when congress was divided on points of the consitution

"Mr. President
The small progress we have made after 4 or five weeks close attendance & continual reasonings with each other---our different sentiments on almost every question, several of the last producing as many noes as ays, is methinks a melancholy proof of the imperfection of the Human Understanding. We indeed seem to feel our own want of political wisdom, since we have been running about in search of it. We have gone back to ancient history for models of Government, and examined the different forms of those Republics which having been formed with the seeds of their own dissolution now no longer exist. And we have viewed Modern States all round Europe, but find none of their Constitutions suitable to our circumstances.

In this situation of this Assembly, groping as it were in the dark to find political truth, and scarce able to distinguish it when presented to us, how has it happened, Sir, that we have not hitherto once thought of humbly applying to the Father of lights to illuminate our understandings? In the beginning of the Contest with G. Britain, when we were sensible of danger we had daily prayer in this room for the divine protection.-Our prayers, Sir, were heard, & they were graciously answered. All of us who were engaged in the struggle must have observed frequent instances of a superintending providence in our favor. To that kind providence we owe this happy opportunity of consulting in peace on the means of establishing our future national felicity. And have we now forgotten that powerful friend? or do we imagine that we no longer need his assistance?

I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth that God Governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without his aid? We have been assured, Sir, in the sacred writings, that "except the Lord build the House they labour in vain that build it." I firmly believe this; and I also believe that without his concurring aid we shall succeed in this political building no better, than the Builders of Babel: We shall be divided by our little partial local interests; our projects will be confounded, and we ourselves shall become a reproach and bye word down to future ages. And what is worse, mankind may hereafter from this unfortunate instance, despair of establishing Governments by Human wisdom and leave it to chance, war and conquest.

I therefore beg leave to move-that henceforth prayers imploring the assistance of Heaven, and its blessings on our deliberations, be held in this Assembly every morning before we proceed to business, and that one or more of the Clergy of this City be requested to officiate in that Service"

less than a week later we had our constitution.

n reply to Lois's pictures of the universe and Jesus, if God created the universe he can make the rules, a bit like a message board admin.

But

I would say masturbating is pleasurable and this can't an accident and so God must have wanted mankind to masturbate. Some guy must have got that one wrong.

APRIL 8, 1788 Farrand's Records--CXCV. Benjamin Franklin to the Editor of the Federal Gazette.2

To conclude, I beg I may not be understood to infer, that our general Convention was divinely inspired when it form'd the new federal Constitution, merely because that Constitution has been unreasonably and vehemently opposed; yet I must own I have so much Faith in the general Government of the World by Providence, that I can hardly conceive a Transaction of such momentous Importance to the Welfare of Millions now existing, and to exist in the Posterity of a great Nation, should be suffered to pass without being in some degree influenc'd, guided and governed by that omnipotent, omnipresent R beneficent Ruler, in whom all inferior Spirits live & move and have their Being.--

At the risk of seeking to contradict what I've written elsewhere in this thread, both Toe's and Lostforkate's quotes from Benjamin Franklin are subjective opinions, and little more than that.

It all hinges on the definition of the word "proof." When understood in a non-scientific manner, Franklin's statement, "I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth that God Governs in the affairs of men," he is speaking more of "demonstrations in nature that might speak to the existence of a Supreme Being." And the same goes for Thomas Aquinas's famous "Proofs" of the existence of God. Aquinas never intended them to be "proofs" in a scientific or logical sense. In fact, I think Aquinas meant something very close to what Franklin asserted.

Yet those "demonstrations in nature that might speak to the existence of a Supreme Being" are not, in m opinion, to be gainsaid. And when contradicted by scientific explanations (e.g. the wonderful beauty of a sunset is actually the refraction of light through the atmosphere, or the miracle of childbirth is actually a purely biological response to an evolutionary imperative), the true point is often lost.

Astronomer's can look to the farthest corners of the universe, and not find God there. And physicist and look to the tiniest and most basic sub-atomic particle, and not find good there. But he can be found there, when he is sought with the right eyes.
