In the USA, a toddler shoots someone on average of once a week.

In the spirit of GG/GG, Iowa passed a law that says that babies can handle loaded guns. No doubt so they can protect themselves from toddlers trying to shoot them.

The homeowner needs more time at the range... one of the two assailants survived to be transported to the hospital.

I'd have made sure to get head shots on both.  Dead people can't sue you.  Two to the center of mass to slow them down, then a head shot to each one.  Problem solved.

Repeat this mantra over and over: "I thought they were gonna kill me.  I thought they were gonna kill me."  Don't ever deviate from that simple explanation.  Don't get cocky, or you charged with manslaughter at a minimum.

Remember the Golden Rule: you do me, and I\'ll do you (paraphrased)

^This.  Without training/experience, a gun does not make you any more effective, only more dangerous.  In your home, you're more likely to shoot up your stuff panic firing, and maybe scaring off the invaders.  Just like a car, it doesn't magically transport you to safety, you have to learn how to use it, only cars aren't designed for killing people.  (They still do.)

I expect Yellow Wall will give you an applaud for this, but in its current form will be too cowardly to respond where I know it so desperately wants to.

Sounds like an insult, well deserved! Not a 'try to insult', as troll tries to spin.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - An attempted robbery turned into a shooting at a Terre Haute apartment complex on Monday.

A cab driver picked up 17-year-old Daivionne Young near Larry Bird Avenue in the downtown Terre Haute area.

The shooting happened near 19th Street in the Greenwood Manor Apartment complex.

According to the Terre Haute Police Department, a cab driver from First Choice Cab picked up Young in downtown Terre Haute and drove him to Greenwood Manor to drop him off.

That is when Young allegedly pulled a gun on the driver and tried to rob him.

Police say the cab driver pulled out a gun and shot Young.

"The cab driver pulled out a gun and shot the suspect. Suspect took off. He was located by our uniform division, is in custody, he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital," Terre Haute Police Public Information Officer Ryan Adamson said.

Adamson posted on social media Young, while 17, will be charged as an adult for armed robbery.

Police say there are no other suspects involved in this case.

The cab driver was not hurt.

News 10 talked with a woman who was in one of the apartments at the time.

She told us she saw some of this happen.

"I was upstairs working and I heard a couple of gunshots. I came out on the patio and I seen a black man running with a backpack...and I'm pretty sure he had a knife in his hand, but I'm not really sure, but as soon as I see that, I kind of went back inside," Vicki Schafer said.

Adamson told News 10 the cab driver does not face any charges at this time.

Homeowner tried to defend property
from burglar with stick. When that didn’t work,
he used a gun

THURSTON CO., Wash -- A man in Thurston County was forced to defend himself Friday when a homeless intruder broke into his home.

Police say the suspect trespassed onto the property and refused to leave after being told by the homeowner.  That's when things took a turn for the worse.

The Thurston County Sheriff's Office said when the intruder didn’t leave, he started to come through the back door and attack the homeowner.

Detectives say the homeowner did his best to fend off the burglary suspect in his kitchen, using a piece of wood.  When that wasn’t enough, he fired a single shot, hitting the intruder in the chest.

"The homeowner knew that he did the right thing, and the only thing he could do to protect himself and his wife,” Lt. Rudloff said.

Protection is something neighbor Ernie Brown has to think about for the first time in a long time.  He says he isn't afraid despite the fact that his neighbor shot someone just steps away from his home.  Brown is frustrated about transients making their way into his cul-de-sac.

“There are signs up there telling ‘em they’re not supposed to do that," Brown said.

And that's what you might expect from a former police officer and Marine.  He says he won’t be taking mercy on anyone who breaks into his home.

“They’re not being nice. Why should we be nice to them?" Brown said.

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office won’t be taking mercy on the intruder either.  As soon as he is released from the hospital, they tell us the suspect will be charged with first-degree residential burglary.

In this case, the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office says because the homeowner was within his rights to protect his home, he will not be facing charges.  Police remind people, don’t approach anyone who breaks into your home -- it is always safer to call 911.

Because that's what makes you the Good Guy.  Doing what's right, because it's right, not because they're doing bad.  Doing bad because they're doing bad makes you both Bad guys.

See how that works?  If I'm an asshole, because everyone else is an asshole, then everyone is an asshole.  There are no "Good guys," only assholes.  Assholes with guns are dangerous.

Now, this guy tried nonviolent, then less lethal means, before he was (Allegedly) used to use a Gun.

That's what makes him a good guy.

“I’m like shaking right now,” said neighbor Amanda Baber. “I seriously still can’t believe that this happened. And I heard this morning the helicopters roaring around and I thought it was a little but weird.  But the fact that you told me it happened so close to here, I mean it’s kind of crazy, feels so country, and it’s pretty much the reason we moved here.”

Baber said she’s glad the homeowner was able to react the way she did in such a terrifying situation.

“Praise God that she had the means to protect herself and that she had the strength to do it because in situations like that, you can get pretty fearful and tend to clam up and not know what to do.”

..."in situations like that, you can get pretty fearful and tend to clam up and not know what to do.”

This is true, more often than not, even trained soldiers tend to freeze up, or run in their first firefight.  It's a terrifying situation, and there's no predicting how someone will react.  Training helps, but it's not substitute for Experience.
