Why are the email addresses of authors being removed from stories?

There is no rule posted about whether or not a person can post their own email address on the board. The "rule" came about because of spammers who would join the board, make one post with their email in it, then never come back. It was certainly never meant to rob author's of what little payment they get for writing stories.

When an author posts a story, the email address that they post along with it is often the only thing denoting authorship or ownership. To censor an author's email address from their story post is asinine. It sends the message that authors are not welcome here.

If an author's email address is censored from a story, it makes the story that much more susceptible to theft and plagiarism. If a story is copied from here, an author used to be able to hope that at least their email address might stay in the body of text, and they might still get feedback from it, wherever it ended up at on the web.

Due to the board's current policies, guests are unable to view profiles, thus they have no access to any contact information that might be posted on an author's profile. If a guest were to be so inclined as to join the board in order to send private feedback, they would not be able to until they made X amount of posts (whatever it is now).

If the policy of KB is to not allow authors to post their contact information within their story posts, I will not be posting a story here ever again.

Why are moderators censoring the authors that post here? How much contact information has been stripped away from the story boards so far?

Lurid. Tho I understand your reasons for wanting to be able to post your email within your story post, rope has made it very clear many times over the years that in allowing this, the bits play havoc on the server causing many issues including the board going off line in the past.

I will ask that the rules be updated to include this also.

If there is that big of an issue to having to have your email posted, submit your stories to A Webber and get them posted onto the archives site where that is allowed. This is nothing new and you have been aware of it for as many years as I have.

As for guests and new members having to get to a certain count before getting accsess to procfiles, you can blame me for that 100%. After getting more than 1 profile post from 0 post members asking me which of our female members would be the best ones to cyber fuck, I requested that this rule b put into place.

Would it be a solution (server problem-wise) to add e-mails in post in the form of e.g.:

chris1 @ yahoo . com
chris1 at yahoo dot com  ?

That's something that rope would need to answer. If it's ok, then the mods would correct it to that instead of deleting email addys when we find them

Asking Lurid Sinner to solicit the assistance of RF is tantamount to me asking GRM to borrow a dollar. Also will give Lurid a woo for speaking his mind and to combat the negative karma given to him by the 'furniture guy".

one of the originals

I have contacted RF to see if there is a still a problem with posting your email in your story.  Possibly we can allow the email posted in a way that 'bots won't kill our server.

9.  NEW RULE:  Emails in posts must be written as follows:  name at gmail/yahoo/hotmail dot com.

This prevents spam bots from clogging up the board and crashing the server while they harvest email accounts to send spam to.  It will also save you from getting tons of spam!

Lois, thanks for clearing that up.

The question now is can Lurid's threads be restored or will they have to be reposted to the site?

My stories can be found here

Lurid can only answer that, he requested them to be deleted.

I fully removed the threads per his request but the actual original posts had already been removed by the OP. At that point no replies made any sense whatsoever.

Now that there has been an explanation for a workaround for his original issue, I would hope that he does repost the original threads. He is talented and I know there are others here that would like them reposted also
