I turned on the TV while I was washing clothes about an hour ago and VH1 Classics was airing "Land Of Confusion" by Genesis, one of my favorite music videos as a child.
I started thinking about stuff that never occurred to me as a kid, because how many kids other than Alex P. Keaton cared or care about Political stuff at a young age?
So I was wondering if Genesis got any backlash over the content of the music video, especially its portrayal of then President Ronald Reagon? I went on Google and tried various searches but all I kept finding was full, detailed descriptions of the music video itself, and not reactions to it.
Does any here remember of any Political outcry or any kind of outcry against the music video?

Never heard of any at the time of it's release but it did win the short-lived Grammy Award for Best Concept Music Video at 30th Annual Grammy Awards, but lost an MTV Video Music Award for Best Video of the Year in 1987 to former Lead Singer of Genesis, Peter Gabriel for his video for the song, "Sledgehammer", I can imagine that did not set well for the band at the time as Peter was doing just as good as them. During Regan's era there was never too many outcries over making fun of him, his Wife Nancy or his Administration as he and the rest of them basically ignored that stuff. I think as a President he had more things on his mind than a Political Satire of a Music Video on his character. I'm sure he was used to it because he was a former Hollywood Actor and of course as we all know how people spread gossip about Hollywood Celebrities even in today's society.

Ya I remember there being a bit of nonsense about it, but it was more about Thatcher if I remember right. And that bit at the end where her bellybutton, if youre less interesting, or her lady parts, if youre more imaginative, where changed to a mouth. Thought it was pretty funny myself

There was not much of an internet then.  So while some folks might not have liked the video they could not do much except mutter to themselves.

According to Wikipedia it was Madonna not Margaret Thatcher with the singing lipstick painted belly button.

Ya, Margaret was earlier in the video, but I dont remember what she did. Was she shown being in bed with Ronnie? Its all kind of blending together in my memory now.

No, Ronald Reagan was in bed with wife Nancy. I believe Margaret Thatcher was shown on a news report.
