oh, let's just cut to the chase. Men are pigs.

Women are angels.   :emot_laughing:

Wife kind of agrees with you. She thinks men are dogs.  And yes, I think of her as an angel. 8)

You haven't seen us all by ourselves with no men around. A little wine, and only estrogen in the area, we can out hound dog you guys.

Being polite and having manners, isn't restricted to any nationality or social group, It is in fact something that everyone "should" have, anywhere at anytime. Using a certain street or neighborhood in "any city" is just a poor excuse to try to explain away, what your parents should have taught you as a child, and further more (believe it or not) being polite and having manners isn't that difficult.

Love,
Liz

the woman got what she was looking for

I would love to see a guy try and say that without getting castrated lol

While you're waiting in vain for that apology, why don't you make yourself useful by getting on your knees and opening your mouth

I know, and that's why I -as a woman- make a point of saying it, because feminazis are always right around the corner to trash men even when they're telling it as it is.

Unfortunately, that phrase by a man has traditionally been used to excuse violence toward women.

At the risk of sounding like I'm defending them (again), aren't manners subjective? Especially in a cultural context?

If "their" culture doesn't consider it "bad manners" to compliment an attractive woman walking down the street, is it right ti impose "our" cultural norms upon them?

Which is also why -- again -- it's curious how the women in this thread are less outraged by this behavior than the men. The OP was by a man, and most men have chimed in with a riff on the "all men are pigs" theme.

I'd take Bexy's comment a step further and both agree that the feminazis love to jump all over stuff like this, and assert that too often men assume that all women react like the feminazis. I realize that phtlc's "castration" line is at least half in jest, but it implies the assumption that all women react that way. And, as this thread clearly demonstrates, that's simply not true.

I never assumed that all women act that way, as I was in the process of responding to Bexy who clearly did not act that way. My point was to say how refreshing it is to hear someone say the things that as a male I generally cannot say.

Indeed, but the fact that virtually all men in this thread have chimed in on the 'all men are pigs' theme and the fact that Phtlc felt he couldn't express a certain statement even if it was true, -to me- points to a disturbing trend in society. While women in a lot of third world countries are still treated as second class citizens, it seems that in our western world the pendulum is often also swinging in the other direction, with men being vilified as some type of 'animals'. And they're holding their tongues because they think most women share the feminazi views. And quite frankly, how are they to know that a lot of women out there do not share those views if we do not speak up? Make a rude comment about a woman? You get called a misogynist pig. Make a rude comment about a race other than white? You get called a racist. Make a rude comment about men, in particular white men? Most people laugh and those who don't, don't speak up against it either. I understand the historical reasons behind it, but that does not make it okay.

this really bothers me.

my take on this is there were a few definite harassment calls.  however the majority were simply compliments or positive greetings to this person for making their day a bit brighter, more positive.

this is not an issue of sex, race, color, creed, or ethnic origin. its simply a group that wishes to remove this bit of joy and positiveness from the world.

if they have that much anger or lack of self confidence or desire for power at its worst, well let them have it. freedom to do as they choose, but please keep your darkness over there.

Boo to you

Happy Halloween one and all.

There is nothing joyful or positive about harassment.  If you think there is, shame on you.

of course to make this um er sociological experiment a bit more valid, these two should "dress down", walk a bit more shoulders slumped and see the reactions.

oh yes, and a control group in the middle.

I'm sure I can predict the results.

until its illegal,,,and after

with a big smile and a wink

to all the beautiful people here at KB and elsewhere,,,

No, it doesn't make it okay. But neither does it make the converse true.

Phtlc's comment made me pause. Not because of what he said, but because he seemed compelled to say it, and his compulsion seemed somewhat anachronistic.

You write, "And they're [men] holding their tongues because they think most women share the feminazi views." Most women do not share feminazi views, and I think the problem lies at least as much with men for forming and laboring under the false assumption that we do.

From what he's described, it seems the situation up there in Canada -- where the bad type of political correctness seems to be running amok -- is different from the U.S. So I give him a big pass for that. And though the pendulum may have swung too far in the opposite direction, that occurred 20-30 years ago, and the pendulum has swung back more toward the middle. (This was, btw, the chief misapprehension that Nutty always labored under.)

And, as I pointed out, the knee-jerk feminazi response is rarely seen on this Board -- a place where people speak much more freely than they do in real life. Every single woman who posted here spoke out against extending some men's behavior to all men. The OP practically begged women to respond with "this proves that all men are pigs," and yet none did.

I guess that depends for a large part on what country you're living in. Indeed, I think a majority of people in my country are quite moderate in their views, but unfortunately it's often the extremists who yell the loudest who's wishes are granted. And in my country, people with moderate views have a tendency not to speak up.

True, but I wonder if perhaps us non-feminazis aren't speaking up loud enough in real life for men to come to the conclusion that not all women think that way?

I realize that my posts may seem as a bit of an overreaction, but in my country we have a similar problem with political correctness to the one in Canada. Probably why I can relate to many of Phtlc's opinions.

You're right on that, and I'm grateful for the great women on this board. I meet enough men-bashing women in real life, it's refreshing to come here!
