Addendum to post about daughter making my bed:

I got out of her way and went to the living room. Daughter  called that she was done but she didn't have a mint for the pillow. :D

Well we got a laugh out of that.  Later I went into the bedroom and there was a chocolate covered cherry on the pillow. Daughter was gone but I busted out laughing. I  always pick up several when I'm at the VA. Daughter grabbed one when I wasn't looking. Best joke played on me in a long time.

It makes my heart smile hearing about you and your daughter love. Fun, love, and good times when you can are the best parts of life. The distance between you two is definitely something I could never do with my dad, but it does make these moments all that much more special.  I am so happy you're having such a wonderful time.💋

Blood sugar was at 81 this evening. Great numbers at a time when I’m cutting back more on my daily insulin injections

My Uncle is diabetic. I don't know a whole lot about it, but to hear you're maintaining such a good level of blood sugar with reduced insulin is amazing. 😘

Thank you Sheila. It’s been a long road to get where I am now. A lot of my own not wanting to change but a part was on doctors that weren’t willing to do anything but up my insulin. Took changing a health care system to get a doctor that wanted to get aggressive with treatment. That helped open my eyes to things I needed to do also.

My morning numbers are higher then I would want to see but the doc said they are still OK. Really with how much I’ve cut back on insulin injections over the last 6-9 months means my body is actually starting to work correctly. Or at least better then it has in over 20 years.

A big thing for me was any cut took months to heal. Now they are healing in a normal time frame. That’s HUGE!!  Just another thing to be happy about.

And having it under control now means I can have cataract surgery also with a lot less worries of bleeding and my eyes not healing.

Seeing that FOXIHOTGIRL logged in earlier today.   Just seeing that, I know she's still around. :)

Yay, glad you are enjoying their visit.   I wouldn't squabble about a mint or a chocolate covered cherry.  Either would be eaten lickety split

It’s Friday, I am in love.

My girls all know that Friday is my favorite day. So they got together and all sent me some extra sexy photos and videos early this morning. I woke up and had a very good start to the day. Three of them actually.

Then I met with my child boss, and was told I meet or exceed all expectations (amazing what you can accomplish when you actually come to work every day). They are giving me a $25,000 annual raise, retroactive to January 1. So I’ll have a nice little extra bit in my paycheck next Friday.

Wife and I made it to our Friday night get-together with friends. Dinner then talking after. So good to see everyone again.

Only low point was when we were in the car to head home. When it was time to go home wife said something about going home. Usually we say going home to the cat. Now the house is empty. Been about a month since losing Neville.  Still getting reminders about him all the time.

I don't teach on Fridays, so today I'm wearing jeans, sneakers, a white long-sleeved tee, and my bright green Guinness t-shirt. Oh, and my panties are also green.

Whenever possible, I used to keep my Fridays clear of lessons. After reading your post, I dug out my schedule spreadsheet and confirmed that I was able to negotiate a Monday-Thursday week for the last 15 years before retirement. The long weekends made a world of difference. Unfortunately a couple of non-negotiable spells in administration spoiled the straight run and triggered persistent insomnia.

I tell my staff not to schedule court proceedings on Mondays or Fridays. Because there’s nothing worse than being in a hearing or mediation or deposition that nobody wants to be in. Everyone is looking at their watch and thinking about how hung over they are from Sunday, or what their plans are for the weekend. So we use Mondays and Fridays for organizing and doing paperwork. And then we do most of the heavy lifting in mid-week. It’s always worked best for me that way.

What WILL make my day -- pool party this afternoon. A friend with a pool has decided that with nothing better to do, he would have some friends over for drinks and snacks around the pool. The water is warm enough that we can go in if we wish.

And in a week and a half, he's going away for a month and a half and we will have free use of the pool on the condition we drink his wine and the beer he buys for me (he's celiac and cannot drink beer). Oh, and we will need to water his plants.

That is all.

Another family meal today. My daughter, wife's son and son in law. We went to our favorite Italian restaurant on east side of St. Paul. Besides great food the portions are huge. One serving is really two meals... for most people. We all had take home boxes, all except wife's son. The lady at the cash register when she heard he finished all his lasagna she said he's only the third person to do that. Yeah, he's overweight.

So good time was had by all. They head back to New York on Saturday. Good news is they'll be back in the summer and again late fall. :D

There was an Italian restaurant near me called Angelico  or something like that. They had a deal on Friday's feast for two that cost $40. It could easily feed four people. Pasta is so filling.

I remember my grandfather telling me stories about the Great Depression. My grandmother and he lived in a small area they constructed above the warehouse of their fledgling business. They did not have enough money to eat, but a local Italian joint had an ”all the spaghetti you can eat” special on Tuesdays for a dime.  Granddad ate only once a week. Spaghetti until he was about to burst, so my grandmother could have her dainty morsels. That my friends is love.

Such great news Obi. Both my boys run. Not marathons but daily runs. They run a 50k each year up north but that’s the extent of distance.

Thanks Coach, three of my children have run marathons.  Don't know where that gene has come from, I couldn't run 26 yards let alone 26 miles and Mrs Obi has no interest in any sport whatsoever.

I ran a half marathon once. I figured it couldnt be too much, as I ran all the time and did a lot of ruck marches while in the Army. My ex and I decided to give it a try. Never making that mistake again. Never felt so tired and them sore the next day.  Kudos to you kids for doing a whole marathon.

I'll be heading up north with Allan today to meet more of his extended family. Not sure how many I'll meet outside his Aunt Uncle and a few cousins, but I'll find out once we're there. Probably be gone a few days, not sure if or when I'll be able to visit KB.

Talk to you soon later. I'll let you all know how it all goes.
