Actually, it was last night that made our day. Our youngest grandson took his mother's I-phone and gave us a virtual tour of their home, showing off all the Christmas decorations and  giving us a mini-talk on every decoration. So cute.

So sweet of him.
What a precious moment it must have been for you and Missus Tweety Bird.

After a gap of several months my favourite supermarket is re-stocking my favourite Scandinavian delicacy - and now in two varieties instead of one.

I baked a bunch cookies and quick breads (bye bye bananas), then because I had nothing better to do, I drove to friends houses and dropped off gift baskets with the goodies I made.  About 6-7 hours of baking and an hour of driving, everything is gone.  Last to be dropped off was a tray of pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting to my neighbors.  Was kind of stingy as I only had enough ingredients for one batch.  Hope they all enjoy it.

Ugh.  Had lutefisk every Christmas when I was younger.

Neither. Marinaded herring

During my travels in Scandinavia I was never offered Surströmming though.  ;D

Russians live on a diet of dark rye bread and pickled herring.  My wife likes the vinegary variety.  I like the creamed.  That surströmming looks pretty nasty.

Apparently most depictions of Surströmming do not show the correct way to open the tin and serve it. Done correctly it is not as bad as misinformed youtubers make out.

It was even used as a forfeit in an episode of The Grand Tour.

Celebrating my daughter's 50th birthday today. OK she's in upstate New York and I'm in Minnesota, but we get to text.

Sent her a greeting early and she was just getting ready to head to the mountain to ski with hubby.

She hasn't been able to visit since the virus.  Hoping for next fall if vaccine gets to everyone by then.

Well trained and been made compliant....by my cat Neville

Came into work today to sign some paperwork.  Busy morning with meetings and discussions.

So good seeing everyone here.   Most are still working remotely though, so still seems a bit of a ghost town.

I usually don't like to take a Boo cherry before someone reaches 25 woos, but sometimes it must be done.

Last night we went to a town festival that covers all the buildings in lights.  The shops remain open late.  We went with the kids and bumped into another couple of Dan's friends.

We all walked the town together.

Afterward, one of the couples invited us back to their home for a bonfire and drinks.

The kids were not interested so we brought them home and grabbed some drinks and went back.  They have a really nice backyard with a gazebo that has a firepit in the center of it with a hole in the top for smoke to escape.  And to block the wind, then have some roller type shades hidden between the rafters around the edges.    It was so nice being out with a friends and having a drink by a fire.

And this morning I wake up and I just stink of smoke. I've already showered and gathered up our clothes and doing a load of laundry this morning.

Oh, and they had the sweetest dog.  A lab I think.  I had my mask on, except to take a drink, so the pet dander didn't bother me.  Guess who his favorite was all night?  me!  Even when he had enough of me petting him, he laid beside me with his head resting on my shoes.

My step daughter just logged 10 miles walking this morning.  She's happy, she's proud of herself, she's more confident in herself about this weight loss and fitness journey she has started.  And now she just wet downstairs  to work out with dumbbells for half an hour, before showering and heading to her mom's house for the day.

I'm so proud of her.  She doesn't know how much weight she has lost yet.  It's to be a Christmas morning surprise.  She hasn't even stepped on a scale since she started.

I'm getting her two new pair of shoes for Christmas.  She loves the ones she's working out in now and I'm getting her the exact same ones.  You can never have too many running or walking shoes.

Oh, what also made my day.

It was cold, but not too cold.  Our oldest is 22 now and home from college.  She has been struggling with her weight since being home.  She told me she was going for a long walk.  I asked if I could go with her.  She was happy that I said I would.

So get this.  We end up walking 14 miles.  14!!!   She kept a nice brisk pace and never once stopped.  The last 4 miles she was even pumping her arms nicely.  I was so proud of her.  It's the most exercise she's done at once in the past 5 years.

Tomorrow we're walking again.   But not so far.   Her goal is to lose 30.  I will do everything I can to help her reach that goal.  And Sunday she promised to let me teach her some dumbell exercises.  She's seen me workout with them before and is a little apprehensive about me instructing her, hahaha.  I'll go slow and steady with that though.  I don't want to scare her away.

MJ - I hope your step daughter continues walking. It is, to me, the best form of exercise and if she walks with someone, a great way to pass the time.

Can you post it without the solution?

I'd love to try it.  There hasn't been a Soduku I haven't solved.  Well, maybe a couple.

The longer this day goes on the more I realize just how well rested I am.  Last night was the first time spending it at his house.  I knew his bed was comfortable, but I had no idea just how much it would effect my sleep.
