The youngest finished his college course today, engineering, top of his class with straight "Distinction" grades.

Yeah!  A dad’s pride has no comparison.  So happy for you both.

My new 5 year old has officially called this "home".  ;D

Usually she would say "at your house". Today she said "back home".  :'(

Yes, baby, you're home. It's always been your home.  :D

That definitely deserves a WOO in my book.

Spending some quality time at the DMV with my grandson. When we left, he was holding his official state issued permit to drive a motor vehicle, as long as an adult is with him. Guess I know what I'll be doing the rest of the summer.

Remmy

PS: My granddaughter would be the first to tell you she drives like an old man... and proud of it.  ^-^

My tribe is having their last dinner with my grandparents tonight before they start heading home late tomorrow.

Hard to believe it's been 2 weeks since I last saw all of them. I want my babies back. I wanna change diapers again. I want the seven to kick her shoes off and let them fly off to wherever.

 :D

The day is still early, but a letter to columnist Heloise from a 10-year old Texas girl urging all of us to appreciate opossums certainly made me smile. I love seeing things through the eyes of kids.

I woke up snuggled with two beautiful ladies.  ;D

As much fun as 2 weeks with a 5 year old has been, CJ needed some adult company.

Had a lie-in.

It's the first day in nearly a month that I was woken by my bladder, not my alarm clock.

I'm still doing work on the weekend, but we have plans for the evening...

Watching all the top hats and finery of the ladies at the Royal Ascot Races.
A couple of things different, the height of the jockeys and all the horses seem to run the wrong way. Lol.

Enjoying seeing the world again, seemingly for the first time, through the eyes of a child.  We agreed to be foster parents this summer.  I am amazed that we are getting far more out of it than our ward.  Everyone is the house is cheerful, empathic, helpful, and loving.  I am utterly amazed.

I love little sayings from the other side of the pond.    I didn't know what "lie in" meant, until I read further.

So you slept in.  :)
I'm using "lie in" next chance I get with the family.

My Peruvian would love that, and I got no objections.  She’s more used to taking care of the really little ones though.

Maybe next year.

She would like to adopt, but I think I’m too old.  57-58 is not when I’d want to begin learning parenting.

Sitting by the pool in my adirondack chair, a cool breeze, shorts and a tank top, coffee, my eighties spotify playlist.

It's starting to feel summery.  yay

I am basically your age Jed, and after a couple of miscarriages, have resigned myself to the fact that a baby is something I’m not likely to give my wife, without help from an expensive en vitro procedure(s) that runs $15,000 an attempt.

So we are doing foster care this summer.  Our child is not adoption eligible, and is underweight, developmentally delayed, and lives in an FSU barrack style orphanage that sounds truly horrible.  We are loving every minute.  Feeding him.  Taking him shopping.  Watching him play.  It’s an amazing blessing.  One we will definitely do again.
