That is funny, CG.   Quite a few months ago, my father came across a video of me and my sister dancing at a wedding. I was 16.  Girl had some strange moves back then.

My step daughter home from college.  She stays with us.  I'm excited she will be in our lives again this summer.  I love that kiddo.  She's really like a friend rather than the step mom/daughter relationship.  It's going to be fun.
She just went through a break up, so we just need to get over that hurdle.  With our arms around her, hopefully she will recover.

Oh, if she is as strong as you have hinted previously, she will. Perspective in our lives let’s us weather these issues better than when it happens the first time and we think the world has ended.

With you to provide that perspective I doubt she will have any problem getting over it.

There are three kinds of people in the world. Those who can count, and those who can't.

I really like helping people deal with their feelings about something so simple, and normal as a breakup.  You know, with all the sick shit I have to deal with as a therapist.  I don't really get to deal with something so minor, with my specialty.  It's all the sick shit, like child molestors, rape victims, and survivors of incest.

So, something so normal, and common as a teenage breakup is just so refreshing.

It was soooo much fun watching them cringe while I was dancing along with their younger selves.  ;D

I would give anything for those old videos to be in 1080P.

We also watched a video they made at their school and some jackass interrupts and quite literally speaks to ME and says: "Hey, Jen's future kid, your mom is smokin' hot and I wish I was your dad."

Tonight we're gonna watch some 80's Halloween tapes.  ;D

Weird shit CJs kids say.

The 7: Mommy, my butt's all wet and itchy.

Me: Is it sweat because it was really warm today?

The 7: I hope so!

Positive feedback on a story so old, I forgot about writing it, so I got to reread it.

That's nice that you had a good time. Yay!

Your comment about leftovers made me think of something.  We have Mark and myself, and the three girls.   Do you know how many of us eat leftovers?  Only 1 of us.  Me!   All of them have this thing about eating leftovers.

It probably goes back to my childhood.  Back then, and today, I rarely finish my whole meal at the restaurant.  They usually serve too much for me.  When we go out to eat, I always have a couple of containers with me for my leftovers.  (here is what I use) For the sake of my Earth, there is no way I'm walking out with a styrofoam box.

I'm glad to see someone else that eats leftovers, MS. :)

Thanks Jules. As we get older both the wife and I find we just don't eat as much. I guess as we're not that active and our bodies are slowing down as we age, we seldom finish what we order.  On top of that so many restaurants seem they need to pile on the food to make it look like you get your money's worth.

As for the take out containers, Styrofoam has been banned in Minneapolis and St. Paul.  All take out containers must either be recyclable or compostable.  We have to check the containers. Number six goes in the organic bag to be composted. All other plastic goes in recycle.

Where we used to have three or four bags of trash a week, we now only have one, occasionally two.  Everything else goes in recycle or organics.

What's bad for the environment is three trucks going down the alley each week, four from spring to fall when they pick up yard waste too.  And, how much energy is used to process all of that?  We have a bunch of do gooders who don't really look at the whole picture.

Same at my house.  Both my grandmothers survived the Great Depression, and food was not to be wasted.  What started out as a roast on Sunday would be repurposed through the week, until it was hash or SOS by Friday.  I cringe when I see my kids scraping food into the trash can.  I hear my grandmothers saying “waste not, want not.”

With the exception of sliced tomatoes, our entire meal last night was leftovers. There's a kitchen magnet that we've had for nearly 50 years. It says:

Our clean plate as kids were due to saving the hungry kids in China.  I still don't know how eating all my food helped out those poor starting Chinese kids. :emot_weird:

hahaha, that's hilarious MS.
When I was younger, eating all the food on our plates at our house saved the starving kids in Africa.

And for us it was India.

It must be a generational thing. It was China for me when growing up. I was lucky though. I did not have to eat what was served if I did not want to but there was nothing until the next meal. Needless to say, it was very rare if I ate three meals a day.

I sort of paraphrase these concepts to argue for eating leftovers.  I say there are too many starving people in the world to throw away perfectly good food.  I consider it sinful, and routinely plan entire meals around using some item about to go bad.  It’s often interpreted as me being cheap, but that’s not at all the driving force behind my discomfort with wasting food.  I cringe in restaurants when I see other people’s tables cleared and perfectly good leftovers headed for the trash.

A wonderful weekend for me is to cook and prepare a dozens dishes, to then use in various combinations as leftovers throughout the week until completely gone.
Question about Tuesday’s dinner:  “Didn’t you make that chili Saturday?”
“Yep, and not only is it better today than it was this weekend, it will be even better tomorrow when I use it for nachos.”

My dad always said the mess hall made it special for us. When I met the battalion Mess Sergeant, I was scared spitless. I thought he was going to be angry with me for not eating his meals.

I was sooo gullible when I was little.

CJ got her hair did up 80s style like my mommy had.  ;D

Everyone fucking hates it!  :emot_laughing:

"What did you do to your beautiful hair!" My mom screamed.

I like it. I'm gonna add pink to it.  8)
