Yes,  me mowing my front lawn.

ID card? I don't need no stinkin' ID card. I already know who I am.

Anyone else get "caught" by the Google car?

Our neighbor walking from his car to his garage.  He's in the shadows a little bit.   He's a very large man with a big arm swing and a long stride.   The camera caught him at the perfect time and he looked like bigfoot.

I noticed after the picture of me and the dog had been up a couple years, they'd blurred out my head. Neighbor didn't notice that when she was here yesterday.  Sure they got complaints, maybe even lawsuit threats and started hiding identities.  However...tho' they blurred my face, they did nothing for Ruby. Leaving her cute little face and floppy ears exposed to all the perverts surfing Google maps.   :sign_whatchalookingat:

Of course my house is on there.

I'm looking at it right now. Taken October 2011 apparently.

Several years ago my car was in two places at the same time. Well, not really. The overhead view of my home and place of work were taken at different times. However, in both, my car was parked in the picture.

Now the make my day — recently, I applied for two internal job opportunities with the company I work for. Shortly after applying for the second one, I got a call to come in for an interview. Went last Tuesday and was told that I would be informed one way or the other on Thursday what the result was.

On Wednesday, I got an e-mail saying the time lines on the second opportunity had been moved up and the manager was scrambling to find people to fill that contract. The contract manager was aware of my application and interview for the other job. I informed him that I was interested in his opportunity if the other fell through.

I didn’t get the position I interviewed for which means I’m moving into the other opportunity. I tentatively start the new job (within the same company) on 10 September. After 4 plus years at my current location, I’m excited for the change.

That is all.

My former employer has discovered I am not in fact an interchangeable part.  Apparently things are so fucked up heads are rolling.  They want me back.  Sadly for them my new job is much, much better with better perks and pay.

Revenge is a dish best served with spices, like your employer’s deepest regrets.

It’s a lateral move in the company with a slight drop in pay but better work hours. And, I won’t have to deal with my current supervisor’s juvenile humour. Looking forward to it.

That is all.

About half an hour ago, I started reading this thread from the very beginning.  Within a few pages I had watery eyes and a few pages later I was crying.   A found earring, their Friday night high school football games, money raised for her memorial, describing her laugh as the most beautiful sound in the world, which it was.   Then this...

......found a DVD of the first drive-in movie M and I ever went to together...Forrest Gump.  My evening is planned.

He loved that movie so much, and he thought Karen did also.   She hated it, but never told him.  She only would watch it because it brought him so much joy and he would always refer to it as 'our movie' because it was their first drive-in together.  She only enjoyed that night, because it was with him, not the movie.    In our conversations she'd mention, "We watched that stupid movie again."  I would tell her, "Just tell him you hate it."   She'd laugh, as she did so often, "I can't Jules, it brings him too much happiness watching it with me.  It just makes him so happy."

And now I'm bawling like a baby.

And then, after she passed, he called me a couple of times.  "I'm going to watch Forrest Gump tonight, want to join me."   Of course I couldn't turn him down.

What made my day?  Reading this thread and thinking of happy times.

A couple of years ago, someone I loved dearly told me I was their rock. Today I was told I was their protector.

First day of school.   Seeing my niece with all her friends.   The excitement and her eyes lighting up to find out that someone will be in her class this year (the ones she hadn't already texted to and known would be in her class.)

Fun.  She's been really excited about this day.

I'm with you Jules.  This morning's paper  had pictures and a story of students moving into their dorms at the U of MN.  Smiling students, moms by their side, dads pushing heavy laden carts.

Took me right back to when I lived in Northern Minnesota, driving through the campus of the small university there.  Seeing family groups together getting their youngster off on their continuing education path.

Funny how such a simple thing can evoke warm feelings.

hahaha, CG.     I witnessed a couple of those.

I also saw some kindergartners.   Oh my gosh, some little ones were just bawling their eyes out.  So were a couple of mothers.

Our term doesn't start until next week, but I went in to school today to prepare*, even though my contract doesn't start until 1st Sep - the head "caught" me in my workshop, saw what I was doing, and discussion moved from this term's plans to what I will be doing with my classes in two terms' time, even though the contract is officially only one term.

(*new school, new subject, new examination board, previous incumbent left no records or materials!)
