Last day with my heart monitor.  Took off the electrodes and leads for the last time (I hope).

Survived my quadruple by-pass and ablation.  Zipper Club member now, but a hell of a lot better than the alternative.  So fuck you death.  I'm feeling better, enjoying life, and plan to squeeze some more enjoyment out of my days.

Great attitude... congats so far and for being so positive for the future... keep it up...

I shimmed the receiver, put cork in the barrel groove of the stock. This was from my Ishvesk Mosin Nagant 91/30 PU sniper. The trigger is very smooth and crisp on this, unlike my Tula PU.

100 yards. The zen works for me.

Gus (Basset Hound) and I hit the highway and headed west to walk with our friend Ruby (also Basset Hound)  See my post of July 18th
http://www.kristensboard.com/forums/index.php?topic=28521.msg470903#msg470903

She and her people are staying at an extended stay hotel while their new house is being built.  "Mom" goes back to teaching soon, so we're going to try and go out 3 times a week to give her some company and relief walks.

I was expected at the hotel.  G-Man and I walked in and the lady at the desk said, "Hi you must be Bob."  Gus greeted her and the other lady there then they made me a key card for future visits.  As Gus and I started to head to the room, the woman started to give me their mail to put in the room, then took it back and said, "No, I want to come with you and say hi to Ruby."  As I suspected, she's now Queen of the Hotel!

My sister in law just got engaged to a very nice man. She is so happy. She's had a hard life, but things look like they are finally turning around for her. We are so happy for them both.

I know, YOU folks don't think anything about it.  I've been a vegetarian for ages, so it's still a novelty for me.  I did a bulk cook-up this afternoon of some mango & lime baked chicken to keep me going the next couple of weeks.  The pic below is about 6 1/2 pounds (3 kilos) of assorted free-range chicken bits (two sizes of legs and a few breasts).

Of course, life always throws you curve balls.  When I started the marinade yesterday evening, the gallon double-zipper freezer Ziplock bag I was using blew the zipper, liberally spraying me, the counters and cabinet fronts, the oven, and the floor with
6 cloves garlic, peeled
12 oz (340 g) mango peeled, pitted & cubed
¼ cup (60 ml) fresh lime juice (about 2 limes)
¼ cup + 2 tbsp (90 ml) coconut aminos
¼ cup (60 ml) avocado oil
¼ cup (60 ml) spring water
3 tbsp (20 g) minced fresh ginger
2 tbsp (15 ml) fish sauce (Red Boat 40°N 'cos I couldn't find Son)
Zest of 2 limes
and the 6 1/2 pounds of chicken

D'oh!

Just so you know, 'free range' is NOT the same thing as 'cage free'.  To qualify for 'cage free', all they have to do is open the door of the cage for 5 minutes per day.

Remember the Golden Rule: you do me, and I\'ll do you (paraphrased)

Chickens are idiots.

I know a guy who runs a farm, pigs, sheep, chickens, all free-range.  The chickens have a big field to wander in, even a small copse, but they insist on sticking to the few feet beside the barn, or wandering underneath a raised section.

I like that my chickens don't go far.  One side of my yard has a fence just 4 feet high, and they don't fly over it although they could.  It  helps that I have a large yard as well.

What I really need now is a goat to munch all the Bermuda grass that has grown since the start of the monsoon.  It is so high I'm losing my cats in it.  Still it is so fun to watch them pouncing around in it and chasing the grasshoppers and lizards.

There are no grasshoppers or lizards in the chicken's area. Chickens are merciless predators.  Fascinating to watch them swallow lizards whole.

Here's a picture of me from our visit to the Minnesota State Fair today.

I'm about halfway down the street, third person from the left.  Naw, I'm not afrain to post myself online.

Yes, we had a great time.  Got an electric scooter for the wife and the rest of use plowed open a path for her though the crowd.  Saw lots of livestock. (Yes Liz, there were horses. Wife even got to pet a miniature horse.  Only came up to her waist as she sat on her scooter.)

Of course we kept fueled by fair food.  All fried and most of it on a stick.  Of course there were MINI DONUTS!

Now just have to rest my aching feet.  Daughter and her hubby will be here for several more days, so more fun visits in store.

I used to work at Rudy Boschwitz's Milk House, back when he still owned Plywood Minnesota.  He's 87 now, so I doubt he still does that.  I have great memories of the Minnesota State Fair.  Not as big as the State Fair of Texas, but one of the best in America.
